Review Time
Our experience was the complete opposite to many of those previously recorded on Trust Pilot. On 14 August 2024 we flew Zanzibar-Dar es Salaam, then Dar es Salaam-Lusaka the same day. The first flight (on a smallish Bombardier commuter plane) actually took off slightly ahead of schedule because all passengers were on board. The second, on a brand new 737 Max, was on schedule. Our hold baggage appeared safe and sound on the carousels at Dar and Lusaka. Both check in staff and cabin crew were courteous and efficient. Air Tanzania appears to have benefitted from considerable investment recently with a number of new aircraft. While time will tell, it may be that some of the older adverse reviews on this site do not reflect the current performance of the airline. We would certainly be less hesitant about flying Air Tanzania in future.
I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Air Tanzania, particularly regarding their customer service and refund process.I have been trying to resolve an issue related to a duplicate charge for a flight booking (May 31, 2024, from Arusha to Zanzibar) for several months. Despite reaching out multiple times, I have received no response from the airline, and my refund of €274.99 has yet to be processed.The lack of communication and follow-through is unacceptable for a company that operates in the travel industry, where reliability and trust are essential. As a customer, I should not have to chase after basic resolutions like refunds for charges that should not have occurred in the first place.I sincerely hope Air Tanzania takes steps to improve its customer service and refund processes, as my experience has been far below acceptable standards. Until these issues are addressed, I cannot recommend this airline to others.
Passenger name TAPIWA KANENGONI. I booked a flight from Zimbabwe to Dubai with Tanzanian Airways for my brother as a tourist, at the Dar Salaam airport the lady charged $100 us dollars telling him that the dates are not matching with the visa, really the visa is for 2 months but the return ticket was for 32 days, does this really matter. On top of that one bag is missing.. until now no one is taking accountability despite all the follow up we are doing. I'm really asking for the baggage/refund. The flight was for 03/05/2023 arriving in Dubai the following day,
Honestly if there was an option of giving zero (0) stars I would give that rather than wasting the 1 that I gave. Air Tanzania doesn’t deserve that 1 star also. I’ve flown with Air Tanzania more than twice and I’ve never seen any worst customer service and hospitality than that of Air Tanzania flight. Their seats are uncomfortable, their reclining doesn’t work, the space per seat is not enough for a normal human to sit properly let alone a heavy weight person. Let me not get started on the baggage issues that Air Tanzania has started lately. The bags don’t come with us on the flight apparently there is not enough space. One would think that if the plane has the capicity of holding over 100+ passengers that they would make sure to have enough space on the luggage compartment but no. Air Tanzania is making me laugh now😂 Despite claiming that the bags would arrive the next day it doesn’t and calls aren’t picked and replies aren’t given. Hoping someone would read the reviews and it would save them the money that they’re about to spend on this flight. Have a good day y’all.
I checked my bag in with this airline and this tore up my suitcase. Once I received my suitcase from baggage claim I instantly go to their office to file a claim nobody was there. The door was closed and locked with a paper on the door with a contact number and email. I send a email and text message via WhatsApp. I never hear anything back so I followed up some days later. They finally texted me back and ask me did I file a report with lost and found the day arrival. How would somebody know their protocol to file a claim with lost and found the day of. And they tell me yea we know you don’t know our protocol but we can’t do anything if you didn’t file a report with lost and found the day of. Like what kind of mess is that on top of you all not even texting the same day back which if you all responded the day of I could have done that while I was still there during my lay over. They fact that you all never responded till I texted them again saying how unprofessional they were for never writing me back. I would never suggest this unprofessional flight company. They tear your stuff and take no accountability! Would not recommend!
Our flight was rescheduled from Arusha airport to Kilimanjaro airport and postponed by 6h just 6h before the flight due to "technical" reasons! At the airport itself the new flight was also delayed by 1h. No compensation provided. Terrible communication, not recommended
