If I could give zero stars I would. Air Tanzania is a dreadful airline. We went to the airport and were told our flight is now 3 hours later and not when we expected. We had no contact prior to our arrival at the airport advising of this. First we were told the flight was cancelled then we were told that the seats assigned to us were broken! We will be lucky to catch our onward flights to Australia now after this disaster. We attempted to complain at the airport and asked to board an earlier flight to no avail. I will never book this airline ever again and I will warn others coming to Tanzania not to use this airline either. There are many better local airlines here.
WORST EFFING AIRLINE ON THE PLANETIf I could review and give it less than one I would. Flight delayed twice in one day. Then changed to a different airport in Arusha that will take two hours to reach the city. So a flight that was supposed to leave at 1600hrs was now delayed to 2100hrs and to a different airport which would take 2 hours to drive. And worst of all their own staff don't know about these changes. And no compensation/refund offered by them.
Our flight had a slight delay which was communicated in a timely manner. The flight itself was great, the staff member responsible for drinks and snacks was very friendly and attentive. Lots of on board communication about departure, arrival, weather at destination etc. my only complaint is that we were boarded during refueling when air con cannot be in use. It was boiling inside the plane but once we prepared to take off the AC kicked in and the rest of the journey was excellent. It’s pretty cool watching the manual take off and landing on bombardier dash 8. Some awesome piloting.

I travelled with my husband and 2 children for our dream holiday, we checked in 4 suitcases and none of them arrived at Zanzibar airport. I was promised the luggage will arrive on Monday (the next day)however I spent all day ringing and all I got told is to call back in 30 minutes. This caused a huge inconvenience to my family without any personal belongings and the airline unable to provide accurate information.I was promised the luggage will arrive on Monday however I spent all day Monday with the help of staff at the hotel. The luggage didn’t arrive until 10pm Monday night despite 2 earlier flights during the day. This has caused huge inconvenience to me and my family. I didn’t trust Zanzibar airport lost/found luggage staff to arrange a delivery therefore I had to make my own arrangements immediately and hired a private taxi, travelled to Zanzibar airport early hours Tuesday and collected my luggage myself. The luggage was with me 41 hours later than what it should have been which has caused a huge inconvenience to my family without any personal belongings and the airline unable to provide accurate information.
Avoid at all costs. I booked a round trip between Zanzibar and Arusha and the experience was disastrous. On the outbound flight, there was a delay of over 4 hours with no email updates, no corrections on the airport screens, and no Air Tanzania staff at the boarding area to provide any clarification. They even refused to accept the electronic boarding pass issued through online check-in and almost denied me boarding.On the return flight, I was forced to check in my carry-on bag, which was returned destroyed — handle completely torn off and wheel structure damaged beyond repair.Air Tanzania refused to take responsibility for both the delay and the damage. Completely unreliable and utterly indifferent to passengers.
Our flight was supposed to depart at 13:40. We received information in the morning that we would delay an hour. When we were supposed to depart at 14:40, they announced we would depart an hour later again. When we were at the gate at 15:40 they didn’t write anything on the board, didn’t announce and didn’t inform anyone. When I looked for a representative they told us there would be another hour delay until 16:40. This is not the first time! They always delay and don’t inform. I do not recommend this company at all. They are unprofessional and these delays are unacceptable.
This company is scammer. They sold the tickets to a non- flight!! We bought tickets from Darüsselam to Arusha and 5 days later, Arusha to Darüsselam. But both of them there was no flight!!! They send us to Klimanjaro; after waiting 7 hours in AirPort. Then send us to Arusha by bus; extra 2 hours !! 5 days later ; same things happened!!! With bus they brought us to Klimanjaro, and after waiting 6 hours we were on the plane. NO COMPENSATION, NO APOLiGIE!!!
