Review Time
I concur w many of the reviews and can add more:+Continually new vets, little continuity +Money money money+Charged me £500 for suspected ‘cancer’ when it was a recurrent anal gland issue and should have cost £50 for diagnosis at 1st visit+The vet hit my dogs head on table as he lifted him onto table - they didnt write this in their notes+Their complaint policy is worthless: external routes suggested but vets wont engage w them+when i requested a referral to a specialist they would only do it if i went in for another visit/pay them £50I have been w them over 10 yrs and fortunately had not needed a vet for any serious issues until this yr. this year their incompetent greed has shone through and i have now left their practice: nice big car parks and spaces for my dog to pee in arent enough to keep me.
More money orientated than animals... They squeeze you for everything. I was charged for the vet confirming after 10 seconds my dog had a limp from the video I taped. (even my children could see the limp!!) Vet did not even examine nor treat the dog at that appoinment... Asked to make another appointment. This is only one of the many grieviences I have with Rosemary Lodge. They use to be good with great customer service but now they all seem to read from the same script. Get more money from the pet owners!! Animal care is secondary to the ££ and they don't seem bothered.
I recently had to take my beloved dog Joe to have his monthly librella injection for arthritis - unfortunately the night before he was due to attend he picked up another grass seed in his left ear. This was no problem as our vet Guilia who always shows so much love and care to our dog immediately had him sorted under a mild anaesthetic and he was home early afternoon. They have always given Joe the very best treatment for which I am very grateful.
Can't fault the cleanliness, politeness and excellent care. the young lady vet I saw was very caring and informative. When I got to the counter I thought I had missheard the receptionist when she told me how much I owed, I got the same treatment for 25% of this at my last visit to the practice in Peasedown St John before it merged with BVG. Sadly this is always the case in these situations, they develop the corporate greed mentality and now they seem to have a stranglehold on the immediate area. Does this mean families on lower incomes will have to deprive their children of pets? I certainly would have struggled to have found what amounts to a weeks food shopping when my kids were all at home.
ok first of all.. they do seem to be more money orientated than caring for pets. but each time ive used them they have been nothing but lovely. last week i had to rush my kitty bambie to rosemary lodge on sunday 26th dec. was told on phone have to pay 156 quid. as my cat has insurance i did tell them that all i had to pay was the excess. yet they insisted before seein my pet.i had to pay. i went there at 10pm at night with my cat. she was seen late. but was seen. the vet i had spoke little english but knew what was wrong. i refused to take her home until she was better. she was there for 2 days.i had updates daily and she was not eating as she was terrified. in the end all i had to do was pay the excess and she was cared for.they are the best hospital for animals. when you lose a pet.they always send you a condolence card. they may be money oriented and want lots of money off you when insured.but would offer to put down pet if didnt. but they always put the animal first. one thing that is annoying.is that my vets is chapel in melksham. they chop and change their vets so many times that .before you get a chance to see same one each visit.its always a different one.that you have to keep repeating the problem each visit
Tried to make an appointment through their booking system and it did not work saying phone the group. Phoned to book an appointment to give my dog a tapeworm tablet to return to EU (not a UK dog no health certificate required) they would not administer a tablet, not something they do!!!! Wow or is it woff. Found another vet who was happy to do this and got my appointment.
I used this vet group since 2010 (11yrs) sadly each year the group has lost abit of its morals and in turn appeal for me. When I first joined the group generally went out their way to help their animals and their owner's but in recent years they are nothing more than a money making bussisness. The last 3 years with this group has been nothing but miserable, a few issues from the last 3yrs, large dog breed being invited to attend the cat clinic; vets not informing me about my practice changing to a cat clinic. Rude staff, lack of empathy/euthnics/morals. My actual cats details never seem to easily come up, compassion for animals thrown into the abyss........ The pet plans also a waste of money specially when they refuse to give you the treatments you have paid for which is whats happened to both myself and people I know its shamefull. If you think your doctor surgery Receptionists are something else then you havent meet bath vet groups receptionists they are next level when dealing with sensitive issues and seem very out of place. I used to recommend this vets but I wouldnt anymore they literally just want your money. Reason I left this vet group was Animals don't come first, lining pockets is their game.
After taking my dog here over the bank holiday weekend as she was very poorly was told on first visit she has a temperature and to bring her back the following day to be seen on arrival by a different vet Nicola who Said my dog has meningitis and after the money we had all ready spent told us it would be 5 grand plus!!! Then as we didn't have this money was told to apply for the grant which was refused after several emails phone calls from them to get this money for my dogs treatment I was in absolute dispair my family was so upset as being told by Nicola my dog could become blind and if treatment didn't work death...the only option I had was to borrow money from my family as it was such a large amount and rosemary lodge pushing for payment it seemed to me that money was all they were worried about not my dog so I decided to get a second opinion and took my dog to batheaston vets.the receptionist was kind and caring towards us as was the vet after looking at cookie they told us she had an EAR INFECTION hence the temperature my dog has been treated and is totally back to her happy self...how can rose Mary lodge miss this!!!!! Meningitis and 5 grand plus shame on yourselves you should be shut down..DO NOT SEND your pets here..
We have used this vets for our puppy and it has been a great experience. Their Pet Health Club plan is a great value especially since we feed the food that gets discounted with it, so it pays for itself. It also includes full puppy vaccination course plus yearly booster, two health checks a year, nail trims, and monthly parasite meds. Their consultation prices are standard and clearly listed on their website. However vet costs are always high, especially for serious injuries, so make sure you have pet insurance if you don't think you could afford an unexpected bill of £500+. Vets go to school for 6 to 8 years and the supplies they use are pricey!
Very unhappy with their customer service. On reading other comments I'm not massively surprised now. They have been very rude to me as well and not responded to my complaint about their extortionate prices and lack of customer care when I visited to get one of our cats vaccinated in the summer - in fact they made me feel like some walking mass of virus! I am aware of the dangers of COVID having been a key worker during lockdown, but also am highly trained in customer service and safety in retail, I'm very hygienic - wash my hands all the time and wear a mask and having dealt with the public day to day throughout lockdown I made sure my customers felt ok and safe in such weird circumstances, I did not make them feel like they were muck spreaders. I've been a customer of Bath vets group for years, and am an experienced cat owner. They never used to be like this - so what's changed Rosemary Lodge??? They were once absolutely superb and lovely on reception. I'm also now horrified at the way they've been treating customers on a low income - it stinks of corporate greed which in my opinion has no place with a veterinary service. Animals and their wellbeing must come first with any vets. I objected to the cost of the booster vaccination for my cats this year, and asked why. No answer. Then tried to get some stronghold on prescription - but again it was very expensive, and they were very obstructive to me doing a repeat prescription. So I just left. I'm with another vet now, who explained why vaccines cost such a lot (greedy drugs companies) but the flea treatment and pet club isn't so expensive with the new vets. But above all, the new vets treat me like a human being, not a cash cow. And I feel safe with them handling my cats. And I truly think that if, god forbid, either of my cats got ill, unlike Rosemary lodge, they wouldn't hold my cat to ransom. I can only think because they have a hook up with Bath cats and dogs home they can easily 'rehome' someone's pet if they can't afford the treatment. Interestingly Rosemary Lodge were highly snooty when I told them I'd got my cats from other rescue organisations...and once asked me why I hadn't used Bath Cats and Dogs instead. The other small but irritating thing they did was continue to send email reminders to get my other cat vaccinated despite me informing them I'd left. All very silly, and stank of petty behaviour on the receptionists part. I emailed again and again politely to tell them I'd left and to take us off their books, I got a one line email back after the latest one, saying they would but with no hello or sign off. Very very bad customer service.
