Review Time
This was my first experience with made to order stuff but I'm so happy. I was a little concerned about the long waiting but I went with them since it's hard to find nice wholecuts nowadays, but man when they arrived the smell! the looks! it's exactly what I wanted.
I ordered 2 pair of shoes and a matching belt. All tan. 7 months later I received 2 pair of brown shoes (color: oxford) and a tan belt. I took the shoes to the cobbler right when I received them ($90 to have 2 pairs of shoes protected heel+toe caps). I got them home and realized the belt is tan and the shoes are a different color. I reached out to beckett simonon and they agreed I did not receive the color I ordered. Their resolution was for me to keep the shoes I ordered and to send me an oxford colored belt. I reitterated that I didn't order, nor did I want brown shoes, that's why I ordered tan. I proposed a resolution but because I had taken the shoes to the cobbler they could not be returned (even if they had never been worn). Now my option is to have spent a few hundred dollars on shoes I will not wear and spend a few hundred more on reordering the same shoes and crossing my fingers that in 7 more months they will come in the right color.I'm really disappointed. I hyped up this brand, shared it with friends. At least one friend ordered multimple shoes himself. It feels like a bait and switch and I don't trust that if I order again and wait 7 more months I'll get what I paid for again.
I have owned many leather items in my life as my work took me around the world and I needed bags of various descriptions. My old carry-on had to be retired and I decided to order a hand made bag from Beckett Simenon. I didn't know the company (it's apparently new) but I did know that they worked in Colombia, a country I've often visited and whose devotion to quality leather goods is well known. I ordered a new bag. It just arrived. It is the most beautiful peice of leather craftsmanship I've seen in many a day; the Italians, who are masters at this sort of thing, better watch out! They may get some serious competition. I also orded some jodpur boots but they haven't arrived yet so I will have to hold off further comment. But I suspect they will be of comparable quality.
I ordered on April 19th and received a confirmation that the pair of shoes I ordered will be delivered.....in August. August?!! Is it me or does that seem like a sort of casual production timeline? I only hope my shoe size doesn't change by then.
Bought the 5 pack of nelson belts on sale. For the sale price, not a bad deal. However, for regular full price, I would be disappointed. One belt came very wrinkled by the buckle and they did send another no problem. That belt too had some wrinkles more in the middle. They claimed a quality control issue. How do you send the same item again without checking it? Besides the other belts had some small wrinkles around the belt's holes. Yes they are full leather, but the construction quality isn't there. I've also seen reviews mentioning quality control issues.
