I had an email question about the delivery status of my order and I received a response from Yumi that was prompt, courteous, and informative. I've enjoyed Bokksu in the past when my husband gave me a 12-month subscription for a Christmas gift. Each box was a delight -- the contents were unique and delicious, and the packaging was terrific -- the boxes are pretty and sturdy and have numerous uses once empty!
I’ve been a Bokksu customer on and off for the past 2 years, and each box brings me so much joy! The boxes are beautifully curated with delicious snacks and I love to learn about Japanese culture through the pamphlets. I’ve had troubles with their website and subscription maintenance, but their Customer Happiness representatives are prompt and very helpful. They always quickly resolve my issues. Five stars!
I wish I could actually give zero stars. I ordered a 3 month subscription as a surprise for my girlfriend's birthday. She was so excited for the packages as she loves Japanese snacks--she never got to try these snacks. For each delivery, the link to the tracking number on their website did not work. It would first state that the number was not found before going into an infinite loading loop. We only got a working version of this link after emailing support. For the second delivery, we even received a notification that the box had been delivered, but when we used the link provided by support we saw that it had been returned to sender. Additionally, I believe there was a change in their website which did not allow us to look at past orders (seems like this happened on September 10th?)Overall, both deliveries were returned to sender--I'm pretty sure the third delivery will face the same issue. I paid greater than a 100 dollars for this and got headaches and delivery issues instead. In fact, I'd probably prefer being mugged on the street instead as it would've been a less painful way to lose money.
We had a problem with the package delivery with the local leg of delivery. Upon notification with the Booksu team, after a few exchanges (due to concerns for the request to personally pick up at a not-easy to access dispatch point), the communication finally landed with Emi. The issue was finally resolved with thoughtful and efficient service. Considering that these boxes represent a great effort to support local suppliers in Japan, it also represents a meaningful and joyful moment for the receivers - in this case, my parents, now in their 80's. Appreciated for the great service.Hope that the quality and 'volume' of products can be maintained, as reflected in the pricing. Thank you!
Although there was an issue with the wrong shipping address, Emi took care of it quickly, efficiently, and with great professionalism. The issue may be with the way Shop Pay uses the information they have on a return customer, instead of using the information the store (e.g., Bokksu) receives from their own customer. If I didn't check the shipping address on the confirmation email, the box would have been sent to me and not my family member. But Emi resolved that issue for me. Best customer service I've received in a long time, and I plan to order more boxes for gifts in the future.
I really enjoyed the Bokksu snacks. I love exploring different treats that I have not encountered before and appreciate that these are well curated and support small businesses in Japan as well. And the presentation is gorgeous! A box would be a beautiful gift for a foodie friend. I did make the mistake of signing up for a subscription rather than a single box. As some reviews noted, it's easy to accidentally pick a subscription rather than a single box. My work travel interferes with regular shipments, so I had to cancel. The chat support was fast and professional in processing the cancellation and issuing a refund before the next box shipped. I appreciate the understanding about the situation and excellent customer care.I'll definitely be ordering again and even subscribing when not traveling so much!
They sign you up for a 12 month subscription regardless of what you choose - I was given a one off box as a gift, and ordered only one month. Surprise surprise, next month I suddenly got stung with a 90 AUD renewal out of nowhere. Currently attempting to dispute this with my bank.Also! You can't remove you card details from the site! So now I will likely have to cancel my card to make sure they don't pull any sneaky extra charges.The boxes themselves are nice, but very overpriced for what you get. You can get just as nice snacks at your local asian grocer for much much cheaper. Avoid and don't give them your card details!
