Very Poor After-sales Service and QCAfter 2.5 years of light use, the right-hand side of my PX5 headphones just stopped working. I contacted B&W support with the hope of either a warranty or paid repair but they did not want to know. They said PX5s are now obsolete and for an upgrade cost of £210 they would send me PX7 as a replacement! They would not offer a repair. I consider this very poor service and incredibly short product life on what is supposedly a premium product from a reputable supplier. My advice is buy elsewhere!
I have owned three different types of B&W headphones, along with some hi-fi speakers (606 Anniversary edition), so am well acquainted with the brand. The sound quality is, in my opinion, second to none for the price. My P5 headphones are fortunately still going strong, but I can no longer use them with my phone thanks to my phone lacking a 3.5mm jack socket.I bought a pair of PX5s in 2021 from a third party retailer at a good discount on the RRP. These headphones were without a doubt my favourite of all the headphones that I've owned. Unfortunately, the sound on the right can became intermittent. I sent them back to the retailer who replaced them 'no questions asked'. Then the exact same fault happened again with the new pair, and the retailer advised me that as they were no longer being made I should send them back and would be given a full refund, which I did and I was. Top marks for warranty but bottom marks for the same failure happening twice in the first year.I then decided to splurge and buy the PX7s in September 2022, reasoning that as the flagship headphone they would be even better than the PX5s. Again, there was a good discount as there was a new range of headphones that had just been launched. This time I bought direct from the B&W website. Honestly, I liked them slightly less than the PX5s but was still happy with them. Happy that is, until a similar fault - this time in the left can - occurred within the first month of ownership. I hadn't even used them enough to have to charge the battery beyond the initial charge before use.How can this reputable company make such poorly designed/manufactured headphones? They aren't exactly cheap, but it's just shockingly bad to see them all fail in the same way. I won't buy B&W headphones again. To be fair, the customer service to return the item and get the refund in the first 30 days "trial period" was fine. They sent me a UPS label so I could return them, and processed the refund promptly. The whole returns process took 12 days (including me waiting a couple of days to get round to posting the headphones back).I can't overstate how shockingly bad it is to get these kinds of faults on their headphone products. I now wish I'd bought an extended warranty for the speakers too. I've since bought a different brand of headphone.5 stars for the headphones' sound, 1 star for the headphones' build/design quality, 5 stars for the warranty, 4 stars for the customer service, 5 stars for the speakers = 3 stars overall.
Not really happy with the Bowers & Wilkins brand of headphones. A few days ago I purchased a pair of Bowers & Wilkins PX7 Carbon Edition. Shortly after purchasing them, I had a change of mind about the PX7, and wanted to return them for the PI7 headphones (in-ear), but unfortunately I had already opened the packaging. The retailer in NZ where I purchased the PX7, refuses to take them back in exchange for the PI7 in-ear headphones. I have not used the PX7. Is this the kind of service that Bowers & Wilkins gives its customers. If this is how Bowers & Wilkins treats its customers with absolutely no change of mind warranty, then I’ll rather support another brand of headphones like Bang & Olufsen. This is absolutely ridiculous & I’m highly disappointed. Even though I purchased my B&W headphones in NZ, the retailer is still an authorized B&W retailer and represents B&W. I would really like the management of B&W to comment here, and not the store where I purchased the PX7, ‘cos the store doesn’t help at all, and is a total waste of time.
I have bought three pairs of B&W headphones in the past 5 years. This is because the build quality is absolutely atrocious. The only thing worse is their customer care. It’s true the sound quality is incredible (which is why I kept coming back); but no more. The most recent (PX7) didn’t last six full months. This time the faux leather covering of the right earpad split. The retailer said these are replaceable and so they count as consumable, and not covered by the warranty. The retailer doesn’t sell the earpads, however, so they’re not particularly consumable. The B&W website also claims that the earpads are of the same quality as every other part of their product. The Australian distributor wants to charge $70 for a replacement. When I spend $600 on premium headphones I don’t expect ANY part of it to fail in less than six months; and I certainly won’t pay for a replacement when it does.
Bought these and love the sound and look although they are minus a lot of tech but then again that’s their thing . What’s not acceptable is when you get a crack on the glass sides and they don’t replace that piece (when it is do able) basically got you will need to buy a new set (£700) at half price. Just a complete no can do atitude so I have adopted the same atitude. I will never buy anything from bowers and Wilkins again. A company living off self publicity so let’s so how far that goes when you have no more customers left
Couldn't give zero rating. My PX7 has a problem with the left headphone. It looses sound in the left and if you tap lightly the sound comes back on. This is a common fault it would appear. Have a look on the internet and you will find lots of similar complaints. B&W know this but it appears to me that they have not resolved this fault. Great headphones when they work. My headphones are only 3 months out of warranty and they want nearly £160 to repair a well known fault. Beggars belief.
