I visited this jeweller on Saturday to look at a 3-carat lab diamond pendant. As I was spending £3,0

I visited this jeweller on Saturday to look at a 3-carat lab diamond pendant. As I was spending £3,000 — which is a very significant amount of money for me — I wanted to feel confident, comfortable, and well informed before making such an important purchase.
A gentleman initially approached me, and while he was polite, he seemed to have very limited knowledge about lab diamonds. I noticed a tall lady with long dark hair who clearly appeared more experienced, and I tried to get her attention. She immediately sensed my uncertainty, made eye contact, and came straight over to assist me, stopping what she was doing without hesitation.
Her knowledge, professionalism, and calm manner instantly put me at ease. She took time to explain everything in detail, including the certification, and answered all of my questions clearly and patiently. Unfortunately, the gentleman repeatedly interrupted her and would not fully allow her to take over, which made the experience feel slightly uncomfortable. Because of this, I decided not to make my purchase that day.
I returned on Monday and again the gentleman immediately approached me, seemingly very determined to secure the sale despite still lacking knowledge on the product. Thankfully, the same lady stepped in again and took over. Once more, her service was outstanding — she was knowledgeable, patient, reassuring, and genuinely focused on making sure I felt confident and happy with my purchase.
Thanks to her exceptional service, I did go ahead and purchase the pendant. She even took the time to personally oversee everything, including counting the cash I had brought with me. However, I noticed that the sale was processed under the gentleman’s name, which I felt was unfair, as she truly carried the sale from start to finish. I sincerely hope that any commission is awarded to her, as she absolutely earned it.
Please pass on my heartfelt thanks to the lovely lady who helped me — unfortunately I didn’t get her name, but she was tall with long dark hair. She was a credit to your business, and I very much hope she will serve me again in the future.
A small suggestion: it would greatly improve customer experience if staff were encouraged to “read the room” and step back when a colleague is clearly more knowledgeable and better suited to support the customer.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, largely thanks to her exceptional service.

Great shop with lovely staff

My husband had made a surprise appointment to view a ring for my birthday. Both Kay and Karen were really welcoming and helpful showing us a number of rings for me to try on. We chose one which was on platinum and as I want yellow gold is being made for me. While trying on rings they also cleaned all my other rings which was lovely. Great shop with lovely staff.

A Disturbing Ordeal – My Late Father’s Rolex Taken, Serviced and Withheld Without Consent

I’m writing this review to warn others to be extremely cautious when dealing with Bradley’s Jewellers in Harrogate after what became a five-month ordeal involving my late father’s Rolex. In June 2025, I took my late father’s Rolex Oyster Perpetual for a simple valuation. I knew it would be sent to the Harrogate branch for assessment and explained that I wanted an idea of value with the possibility of selling depending on what it was worth. When I spoke with Peter Bradley Jnr, he offered me a price. I told him that as I was at work and didn’t know much about watches (something he later took full advantage of), I would need to discuss it with my family first. After I turned down his offer, he immediately tried to pressure me into a part-exchange for jewellery at nearly twice the cash price, a tactic that felt manipulative and opportunistic. A few days later I confirmed I did not wish to sell, and he assured me the watch would be returned the following week. That return never happened. Instead, Peter repeatedly told me the watch would be back “in two weeks,” over and over, for months. What he never disclosed was that he had already sent it to an outside repairer in Manchester for servicing and refurbishment without my knowledge or consent. I was never told who this repairer was or whether they were Rolex-certified, information I still don’t have. You wouldn’t take a Porsche to a Fiat garage for servicing; the same principle applies here. When I finally confronted Peter Bradley Jnr, after weeks of lies and deliberate silence, he admitted the watch had been sent away “by mistake” and called it an “embarrassing error.” He even instructed me not to contact the original branch, isolating me as a customer and keeping full control of the situation while withholding vital information. I was told I should be grateful because they were treating it as a “free service.” Yet after that supposed apology came a demand: unless I paid at least part of the unauthorised service cost, he would “put the watch in the Harrogate shop window for sale.” Hearing that was shocking and deeply distressing, this was my late father’s watch, and I suddenly felt like I was being held to ransom for someone else’s mistake. He behaved as if the watch already belonged to him, taking decisions and making threats over it without any agreement, paperwork, or legal right to do so.In early October 2025, both Peter Bradley Jnr and Janet Bradley called me. The conversation was heated and emotionally draining. Peter maintained that I had agreed to sell him the watch (something I never did) and Janet backed him up even though she had not been involved in any earlier communication. When I asked where the written confirmation or payment was to prove any sale, there was none, because none existed. Peter then said the watch would only be returned if I signed a “legal agreement” stating that if anything went wrong after collection, Bradley’s would bear no responsibility and that I would agree not to post negative reviews. After months of delays and stress, I finally collected my watch on 1 November 2025. At collection, I was presented with a typed statement from Peter Bradley Jnr claiming that I had booked the watch in “with a view to sell,” that I accepted the unauthorised service, and that I agreed not to write negative reviews. I signed only to confirm receipt and wrote a handwritten note underneath making it clear that my signature did not indicate consent or acceptance of those conditions. To this day, I still don’t know exactly what work was carried out on my father’s watch or by whom. Despite repeated requests, and even confirmation from Claire Bradley that they would provide an itemised list, nothing has ever been supplied. This experience caused months of anxiety, sleepless nights, and emotional distress. I placed my trust in a family-run jeweller, only to be met with dishonesty, intimidation, blackmail, and a complete lack of accountability. What began as a straightforward valuation turned into a nightmare that no customer should ever face.

Amazing customer service!

My two sisters and I brought in our late Grandma’s rings to be resized at Bradley’s Northallerton, and we were served by the lovely Lesley. She turned what could have been a sad moment into a really comforting and positive experience. She treated our Grandma’s rings with such care and gentleness & Lesley’s warmth, understanding, and genuine care left a lasting impression on us. She made us feel truly looked after and we just wanted to share how much that meant to us.

Outstanding Customer Service

I have just received the most amazing customer service from Marline - The Manager of Barkers Arcade, Northallerton (Bradley’s Jewellers).I had a problem with my recently purchased (July) George Jenson silver bracelet. Initially it was going to be sent back to Denmark for inspection and repair. After a couple of days I received a phone call from Marline, to offer me a new identical replacement bracelet, as she considered the estimated 3 months possible waiting time, for my original bracelet to be returned to me as excessive. Thankyou Marline for such a first class service from you and all your staff🙂With love and gratitude,Sue and Mick Woodhouse.

I have been a customer of Bradley’s…

I have been a customer of Bradley’s since 1998 and bought many items of jewellery, silver candle sticks, photo frames etc. My husband bought me a ring 5 year’s previous to me visiting Bradley’s shop in Harrogate as three small emeralds had been lost from the ring. On purchase the ring was not big enough so Bradley’s altered the ring. Then COVID struck! I went to see them to see why I have a ring that was inferior having lost stones, they were inset in the ring, so not easy to remove. I first went into the shop with my ring but I was told by a member of their staff, it was too close to Christmas and would I bring it back in the new year, which I did. I then heard nothing so I popped in regularly to find out what was happening with my ring, nobody knew anything, but they’d be in touch once they knew something. After several times until finally last week Oct 2025, I went in as I had received a text message telling me my ring was ready for collection - I was delighted. When I went to the store I was indeed given my ring in a clear plastic bag. I had a look at the ring and noticed the three stones were still missing! I was told Mrs Bradley had tried to ring me several times on my mobile, because I hadn’t responded. There was a white envelope the lady pointed out their had been a price to fix the ring but Mrs Bradley wanted to talk with me from her Scarborough store, which wasn’t the store number I had in my contacts for Bradley’s and seems I have call screening on my phone which stops unknown numbers calling my phone. I had retired a couple of years previously and didn’t want to deal with the new owners business. When I asked why it wasn’t fixed already after over 10 months or having not received any call from the Harrogate store, I was not able to have my ring dealt with and yet when I received the text to collect the text to collect I did. If one can’t get hold of me why wasn’t I sent a text then? I was told it wasn’t fixed as I wore it on my left little finger it was knocking against my other rings engagement, wedding & eternity rings on said finger, so Mrs Bradley had decided that was why they were lost emeralds and the lady serving me pointed out that emeralds are soft, as if that’s a reason… not to fix it, after all they wouldn’t have fell out if the quality of the ring settings was quality? She said that’s Mrs Bradley’s information told to her. I pointed out I’m right handed and the ring on my little finger with seven diamonds, which I inherited and had worn for 25 years, not one stone had fell out! In fact I pointed out the ring was over 100 year old. Perhaps therefore given my emerald ring being five year old had been stretched by them when we first bought it by, the store and perhaps that was the reason? I couldn’t have been more incensed that Mrs Bradley thinks that’s good customer service - really. It in fact reminded me of Gerald Ratner selling rubbish and his subsequent downfall - was similar to Mrs Bradley’s response having spent thousands with them over the years! I said to the lady I was feeling tearful, having had my ring for over 10 months, nothing had been done or even offered is terrible. So I left the store, once out of the store I put the ring on and realised that given the visual of the rings next to my little finger was nowhere near the other rings, so I returned to show the lady who spoke to me and proved it couldn’t be the problem other than inferior quality? She said she’d speak to Mrs Bradley, I’ve heard nothing again.I leave you to draw your own conclusions of how when something goes wrong - Mrs Bradley couldn’t care less! My advice don’t buy anything from Bradley’s store. I won’t ever again.

Bradleys The Jewellers - Barkers Arcade

I have been into this shop about three times over the last few weeks to ask advise about a couple of rings (one for my sons engagement and the other for my wife). The three ladies (Martine, Andrea and Carole) who dealt with me were exceptional, giving advise and help at every stage of the process. I honestly can not express enough how understanding and kind they have been. I would highly recommend this jewellers to anyone wanting fantastic customer service! Thank you all so very much.

Bradley’s the Jewellers Barkers Arcade

Both my sister and I went to Bradley’s to create two bespoke diamond pendant necklaces. The diamonds have been in our family for many years. We’re now the 5th generation to have them. They were left to us after my mum passed away. It’s been a very special but sad moment for us. We’ve been guided, supported and treated with so much kindness. Michael visited us from York, talked us through the process and design options. We picked up the necklaces today and they were better than we could have imagined. Thank you to the Bradley’s team for looking after us all during a very sad but special moment! Special thank you to the ladies in the shop, for all your help, kindness, tea and sweets!

An awful experience

An awful experience, made an appointment online which they were completely unaware of. The person we spoke to didn’t have any customer service skills. The other member of staff ignored us until a substantial amount of money was mentioned! Will never shop there again…
