After Care

We ordered our windows and front door from this company in October 2024. We were quoted 6 to 8 weeks for fitment. After quite a bit of badgering, they were actually fitted on 31st January 2025.The fitting team were excellent, hard working and very pleasant. What lets them down is the aftercare. What good is a 10-year warranty if no one does anything. The fitter noticed a crack on one of the welds and reported it, and we were promised an engineer would come out to check it. It didn’t happen until November, after many phone calls and complaints on their website. He came out, looked at the crack and said a replacement would be needed. It is now nearly the end of January 2026, and still nothing has been done, and no contact has been made from them.In total, I have phoned them 43 times, filled out their complaints form 3 times (last time 10 minutes ago). The next step will be Citizens advice and Trading Standards.Their complaints page states, “We will contact you within seven working days of receiving your complaint, to advise of next steps. We aim to have resolved your complaint within 8 weeks of receipt of your complaint. Where we are unable to achieve this, we will work with you to reach a resolution as quickly as possible.”

Warning!!!!!

We dealt with this company when they were called Clydebuilt Home Improvements. Check out the present website URL. This company liquidated in January 2025 and is trading under a new name.Short story is that they owe us £7,100.00 for a deposit we made in January 2024 for a conservatory that never got built. Clydebuilt never even completed the Planning stage. They promised us a full refund as they admitted they could not fulfil the terms of the contract but lied as we never received any money. We have been informed by our lawyer that we have no chance of getting any money back. Our advice is either avoid or if you have a contract then get in touch with your lawyer or take them to the Small Claims Court as soon as you can if you need to. We used the company's own internal complaints process and then Trading Standards process but this just delayed action being taken and any chance of getting our money back. Update:Recently a representative from Clydebuilt contacted my husband and I separately and requested that we take this review down as 'it was bad for business'. I wrote the review but my husband was contacted first. Interesting tactic! They said if we took the review down then they would pay us back amounts of our money over a 16 week period until we got the full amount back. When I requested the full amount to be refunded before I took the review down I was told that I was not in a position to negotiate. I was further told that maybe I could afford to not have my money paid back to me. Unbelievable! This company is incompetent: it could not even get our project through planning stage. Customer service is non existant (when you are checking on progress) or else insulting. They have taken £7,100 of our money and all we want is our money paid back in full. We gave this company every chance but we were let down and manipulated.

Avoid at all costs

I got this company in fit new back and front door and 1 window. Guys came and a few faults found after they left. Phoned them and they told me if I didn't pay the other half of money they wouldn't fix, told them when job done they would get the rest. They eventually fixed the jobs and were paid in full.2 month on and front door wouldn't lock so eventually came back and fixed but when they left we realised any key would open the lock, phoned again on numerous occasions as huge safety issue so 8 weeks later they turn up to fix it, elderly guy absolutely full of attitude and really cheeky. So all in all I wouldn't touch this company with a barge pole.

Scam-like company

Scam-like company. Clydebuilt behaves like a scam. They'll call from different phone numbers each time (burner phones?). They won't provide an email with a quote. The fact that they provided quote is not traceable. They have aggressive and bullying sales tactics. Unwittingly I had their salesmen twice over at my home with a 3-year break. The pattern is the same and also happened to my friend: you receive multiple phone calls pushing you to arrange a meeting asap ('it happes that our salesman is in your neighbourhood'). The salesman will accept your cup tea/coffee and make himself comfortable trying to exhaust you with his visit and break you emotionally (2-3 hours). He'll waste his time with extremely long chit chat. He'll talk utter nonsense about windows e.g. he'll pretend to carefully examine your windows and make up some staff that is supposed to impress you (but it won't be true). He won't be consistent (because he's lying). He might first say that you won't need scaffolding to install the windows but at the end of the visit might say that it is impossible to install windows well from inside. At some point he'll measure the windows (which will take him ages). Then he'll leave the flat to allegedly assess the outside and pick something from his van (again taking ages). Then he'll provide you a hand-written quote (you won't receive a copy). He will tell you that the windows cost that much (e.g. 10k) but he gives you a special deal (e.g.6k), but this offer ends today. This might be the company's 'offer' and/or 'Scottish government's subsidy'. He puts pressure on you. He'll say that they're the only company in Scotland that produces their own windows and all other companies buy windows from them. He'll berate other companies ('they'll charge you more for our windows'). If you want to agree you need to pay on the day. If you're still not convined the salesman will start raising his voice and say that the deals are limited so if you don't take the deal he'll need to call his colleauge to let him know that you're passing, because 'Grant is waiting to hear from me'. He will actually talk to someone on the phone (for a long time) and loudly saying to this person how he knows you're missing out and that you'll probably regret it (Grant will loudly agree!). When you're still not convinced and reasonably say that you'd like to compare quotes from different companies, he will become bullying and speak loudly to intimidate you. If you still say no, he'll leave angry. You'll never hear from this company again and you'll never receive a proof of the quote. 3 years ago I was worried that they were scamers or worse. I was worried that perhaps this is an elaborate scheme to prepare for burglary of my flat. Fortunately, this didn't happen but you're left psychologically shaken.

Our windows were installed on 5th Nov…

Our windows were installed on 5th Nov 2025 and we are still waiting for the job to be finished. Our biggest window was left throughout winter with massive pieces of plaster missing exposed to the elements. I have lost count of the amount of times I have been in touch with the company just to be fobbed off every single time. Communication, customer service and execution is not this companies strong point. I also find it very suspicious at the lack of negative reviews on here compared to other places. Please proceed with caution or don't proceed at all.

I definitely paid over the odds for windows. Female i spoke to several times was rude, and pushy for money when i had highlighted i wouldn’t be paying in full until all issues are resolved. Three windows arrived broken. Had to wait on them being repaired. People fitting the windows ripped my wallpaper in the hallway bringing the windows up stairs. I did not have a great experience with this company at all. Still waiting on my fensa certificate. My honest review…. Avoid them.

Clyde Windows are Cowboys

This company that apparently Scott Smith owns should be ashamed of the mess of windows that was put in my daughter and son in law’s house. I live in the house and it was left open to the elements around the windows and behind a radiator. I have poor health and it affected my breathing and the heat escaping from the house - all winter - meant that it was cold and very expensive to try to keep warm. The plasterer came to fill in the holes around 13 February! The whole job is shoddy and they have sent members of their own staff to take photos of the awful workmanship and anybody who knows anything about windows has ‘laughed’ and commented on the state of them. Mr Smith has been in court several times; particularly for not paying suppliers too. Despite several calls to the office NOTHING has been said about how they plan on compensating us!DO NOT ENTERTAIN THIS COMPANY.

Uncommunicative, low quality

Clydebuilt fitted windows for me in August 2024, over a year later 2 out of the 4 windows are not right. One has a scratch on it and in the other the double glazing has failed. Repeated attempts to resolve this with Clydebuilt have resulted in no response. I’ve escalated it to the GGF and they can’t even get a response from them. I’m about to escalate to small claims, save yourself the hassle and go with any other company.

Unfinished concrete work . And damaged conservatory floor

We got 14 windows fitted 14 August 24Had to wait 3month with unfinished internals in sitting room bay window as units were fixed off square by 15mm .October 24 another fitter dewly arrived with replacement hardwood cill tottaly wrong colour ! And proceeded to take 30 photos of external Finnish. And commented he had never seen such a rough fit like it in a while !Consequently after he submitted his report along with his photos ! The original fitter came back to try and rectify . His answer was they never supplied long enough cills for the mitre externally . So just had to do the best he could to make our windows presentable!! on the outside . Our conservatory floor was damaged on two place's when the fitter dropped the old unit on removal . Photos were taken .Still waiting for someone to come look ,Also the concrete work was damaged on removal of one of the old units .Still waiting repair . It's now ten months with god knows how many e mails I've sent. Because all I would get is promise after promise if I phoned . With no record what was promised .that's why I only email now for record . But alas no reply to emails now. To conclude this I asked for one more window for our kitchen Sept 24 , to be told over the phone no problem . Still waiting
