A very bad experience with this Company. The surveyor was only onsite around 15 mins (supported via ring cam) was very abrasive and hardly engaged in any conversation. Appeared anxious and not confident and appeared to be thinking about his next appointment. Undervalued our property by 60000 when compared with other agents valuations, zoopla,Right move and HPI index. Also tried to appeal the valuation but the company wouldnt listen and appeared to have its our way or the highway. Check your building society doesnt use this company if yiu want a fair valuation.
Connells have been fab to deal with when it comes to the booking and scheduling of appointments as soon as possible. I’ve been in the property industry for 10 years+ and I deal with so many people and a lot of surveyors. I have to give a special bit of recognition to James Edmondson, I’ve not met many people with the fantastic attitude he has about the work he does and just as a person in general. It’s easy for someone to just come and simply ‘do a job’ but you know he genuinely takes consideration and pride in what he does. He is a true credit to Connells and I’m a firm believer though who work hard deserves the recognition and this is my small way of doing that. Overall I would recommend Connells and hope everyone gets lucky enough to meet the fantastic people still in this industry.
Spent no more than 45 mins in our property carrying out a 'Level 2 survey'. I was told prior to them coming out by a couple of local, independent surveyors to AVOID at all costs. Just goes to show how their reputation proceeds them! Marked all the main components like boiler, electrics, drainage ect in red and just commented about getting a competent, specialist to investigate which I think can be very misleading to unexperienced buyers as they will see these in red and automatically think something is wrong (when infact we have just undergone a full refurb so have a new boiler, electrics installed ect, but none of this documentation was requested or looked at) which is very frustrating. They also tried to down value our property without any reasoning. Other properties in much worse condition have sold for more down our road so highly annoying we now have to lose our sale or renegotiate because someone who clearly doesn't know the local area has took it upon themself (even after a good reduction on original asking price) that we should be out of pocket abit more! I implore anybody reading these reviews to not only take Connells surveys 'with a pinch of salt' and a sense of intelligence with their recommendations on remedial work and valuations but to wholly avoid if possible. Both buyer and seller are getting little to no value for money with their practices. When speaking to the customer service dept when booking in the appt at my property I was told our buyers would likely have their report the same day? A copy and paste exercise, covering their themselves with over inflated issues if ever I heard one!
Extremely rude agent. I receive a call from a woman that in the stereotypical way could be described as a "Karen"... I explained I was at work to keep the call short, and in all honesty she did it. Although while I explained I was available to show the property on the following week she insisted if I could do something the current one (I am in the office therefore no one is at home). When she arranged the appointment she started speaking as if she was reading from a script, telling the time frame is 8 till late. I said my availability is from 9, but she kept reading and while I tried to stop her she kept say "can I finish, can I finish?".I will contact her manager and report this as this is an extremely ride service.Is not the first time they act like this... Do not use this service!
It’s really interesting reading these reviews. Connells surveyed our house and the report was a disgrace. It suggested subsidence , woodworm , rising damp “ cracks in walls” to name but a few things. Our property has always been maintained to a high standard and we were horrified . We immediately appointed an independent builder and surveyor to re assess . Literally none of the problems outlined by Connells were found , none whatsoever. This is scandalous, I’mNot sure how a company is allowed to do this ? Avoid avoid avoid , we are taking legal advice .
I had a valuation completed by a reputable company (not Connells) which came back fine and then had a valuation on behalf of Skipton through Connells which valued it £30,000 less. The valuation report gave no indication as to why - but from reading the many many terrible reviews I had unfortunately already expected it. My advice is to research which mortgage lenders use Connells for their valuations and avoid applying to them.
As a mortgage broker (not linked to Connells) I have met and worked alongside lot of valuers over the years, but James Edmondson really stands out. He’s transparent, quick to respond, and just genuinely a great guy to deal with. Always professional but approachable, James makes the whole process smoother for everyone involved. An absolute pleasure to work with every time and somebody’s who’s opinion I value.
