Review Time
Every time I have tried to get a quote on the website over the last 2 years, it has been impossible. I have tried 3 different browsers and accepted cookies. I was able to do it via chat, but I wasted a lot of time trying via clicking. The rep on chat was very helpful and he also said the problem was reported to IT and would be resolved tomorrow. Why have I run into this problem 3 times over the past 2 years?
We rented a motorhome from Cruise America for the second time. The first experience was already bad: leaking toilet, sinks, and kitchen, a broken entry door, a loose mirror, and the RV was not self-contained. But at least the engine worked. This time was a total failure.Right from the start, the water pump didn’t work, then the toilet leaked during driving, all the way to the front cabin. Shortly after that, the engine broke down.We were stranded in a small town in Idaho – with no electricity, no gas, and no transportation. No Uber, no public transport, and no one-way rental cars nearby. We had to ask around in the town for help, until someone offered to drive us – after three full days – to the only available rental car several hours away, at a very high price. Our planned camping trip with reserved National Park campgrounds was ruined. Some reservations couldn’t be canceled. We had to reorganize the whole trip, book overpriced hotels on short notice (peak season), and throw away all groceries since the gas was out and there was no cooling. We ended up with thousands of euros in extra costs.Cruise America offered zero support. There was no dedicated contact person – just a rotating stream of customer service agents reading pre-written responses.Polite, but completely useless. They’re not the problem – they’re part of a system designed to avoid all responsibility.Bottom line:Two rentals – two disasters. This time, with serious financial consequences.Cruise America? Never again.
We loved the experience, but our trip became a nightmare when we got a flat. We were in the middle of nowhere, and the first three customer service reps thought I should spend the night on the side of the highway with my two children, rather than helping us get a service to come out and change the tire.I was very disappointed, the first rep cancelled the tire service because, surprise surprise, there was no tire shop open at 7 pm. NOBODY called to update me, only the Michelin service had told me it was cancelled. We finally got three very friendly guys to come out and put on the spare for us for a crazy amount of cash. When we finally got back on the road at 10 pm, the sensor fault came on. "Oh, you need to go to a garage immediately and get it recalibrated." At 10 pm?! There's no garage open that late! Even if it wasn't the sticks, no place is open at 10 at night. We ended up driving back home with the sensor warning on the whole time.It was a very frustrating experience, but the experience with the RV was phenomenal. Otherwise, I'd give only one star for the customer service alone. I get that the reps are in California, but they could have at least asked what time zone we were in.
RECRUITING FORMER CUSTOMERS FOR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST CRUISE AMERICA FOR MALFEASANCE. NEVER NEVER NEVER rent from Cruise America. Our rental in May was a total outright disaster, with broken shower pipes flooding the bed, the shower drain clogged and flooding the floor--ALL ON THE VERY FIRST DAY OF OUR RENTAL--and an RV battery that would work only for an hour or so without the vehicle on or being plugged in to shore power which prevented us from camping off grid with our friends for a week as we had long planned to do.Then, after all this. they refused to pay all the costs we had to spend to fix things and when we filed a complaint with the Oregon Attorney General's Office they lied to them claiming everything was returned in "working order"-- but failing to say that was because WE PAID to get things fixed, that they failed to reimburse us for those costs, that WE lost precious days of our limited vacation time having to get everything fixed, and 1/3 of our vacation was destroyed because we could not dry camp with our friends due to the faulty RV battery. They are a poorly run.dishonest corporation this is only interested in their own financial interests. We are considering organizing people with similar complaints and filing a CLASS ACTION SUIT against them. This will likely be the only way to change their greedy dishonest harmful behaviors. Let us know if you would be interested in participating
