We have recenty adopted our new family member and the experience has been extremely positve. The Dogs Trust Team have been extremely supportive ensuring we have all the information and guidance we need to support our new wee dog into her forever home. The local Dogs Trust also arranged to bring our dog straight to the house as that was better for her, as opposed to a centre meet up. We have also just had a phone check in from the adoption team (2 days after adoption) to see how everything was going, and again this was very welcomed, supportive and appreciated.
Our adopted dog (Stanley) has been amazing. I haven't had a dog for nearly 40 years and adopting Stanley has been the best experience ever. I have no regrets and wish that I was able to do it sooner.
Cannot fault the Dogs Trust in any way. Their care for the dogs and the facilities are impeccable. Their support for adopters is incredible. Would advise anyone thinking of getting a dog to go to the Dogs Trust in the first place
Adopting through Dogs Trust has been a fantastic experience from start to finish.
From the application through to meeting and adopting Thistle, the team were supportive, knowledgeable and clearly focused on making sure the match was right for both us and the dog. Communication was excellent and we always felt informed and supported, never pressured.
What really stood out was how dog-focused the whole process was. The team were honest about Thistle’s needs and made sure we felt prepared before bringing him home.
Thistle has settled in brilliantly and is already a huge part of our family. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone involved in his care.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dogs Trust to anyone considering adopting.
Having just adopted our second Dogs Trust dog, we have been extremely impressed with the level of dedication, care and support that guided us through the whole process.
Izzy, from Dogs Trust Dundee, was informative, patient with our many questions, professional and passionate about ensuring that the adoption of our very lovely Juno, was right for us and, more importantly, right for her.
As a result, she fits into our family perfectly and we couldn’t be happier.
We also know exactly where to turn should we need any additional advice.
Dogs Trust were absolutely fantastic. We have adopted a gorgeous German shepherd cross who could not be more affectionate and loving. He is a gentle giant and we are so grateful to the Dogs Trust for bringing him into our lives. They were so thorough with vet’s checks and a behaviourist check and a knowledgeable trainer when we first met him. Constant ongoing support too (though we haven’t needed it) just so glad we rescued a dog and didn’t give money to a greedy breeder! Thank you Dogs Trust for all your hard work.
Many tears ago, I had a really bad experience with Dogs trust (I mean about 2o years ago) and so was apprehensive about completing an application form with them.
However, we have recently adopted a 4 month old puppy from Darlington Dogs Trust. 2 weeks before they had asked us to adopt but because we could not visit until the next week they refused us. At the time I find this quote upsetting.
Anyway, they rang me again 2 weeks later and offered me another puppy. We had originally stated we would adopt any age or breed but as we have a 2 year uear old granddaughter they advised only certain dogs would be suitable.
The care they give to the dogs is amazing. It is huge onside and the dogs are treat so well. They ensured i was ready and able to adopt and that my family and living situation was suitable. We spent about 1 hour in the centre ensuring we were told everything about the puppy and given advice on after care. They have since phoned, offered support and checked up on the dog.
It cost £300 to adopt and this included a vaccination and neutering plus some food. I think that is an amazing price! The staff were lovely and so helpful.
