Went with my friend recently who wanted to adopt or foster a dog, kennels were bare with just a blanket no toys or chews and dogs looked depressed. No one free to talk to and no interest in us. We left after half an hour and she contacted strays Without Borders and has adopted a dog from Macedonia. I have 2 rescues from them. They are brilliant and professional and they want to rehome and foster dogs out unlike dogs trust. I would never ever recommend dogs trust again. Not a nice experience at all.

Our experience with the Dogs Trust at Loughborough

Our experience with the Dogs Trust at Loughborough has been excellent. The application process was easy and straightforward and once we'd expressed an interest in Tobias they helped us through the process and supported us by explaining in detail everything we needed to do to help him settle into our home.He was an complex, anxious dog and although the first meet didn't go well they gave us the confidence to try again and after several meets he came to us on a trial adoption basis. Two weeks later we signed the papers and he's now part of the family, knowing we've got the support of the team at Loughborough whenever we need them is just brilliant.

Dogs Trust Bridgend went above and beyond when I supported a family member to adopt recently. Very thorough conversations and checks to make sure it was a good match for the dog and people and even genuine support afterwards. Thank you for making some very happy people smile again and rest assured your girl is being spoilt and loved too

Disappointing and exasperating

I very seldom write negative reviews, but I feel I must on this occasion. All our dogs have been rescues and all relatively painlessly adopted from other organisations. This is the first (and only) time we have tried the Dogs Trust. We know that many people seem to have found their lovely new pet through this Trust and I'm sure that the staff at the Centres are wonderful etc, but their online process seems suspect and actually trying to make that first approach online is highly exasperating. We have been bombarded recently with notifications from Dogs Trust advertising different individual dogs. We noticed however that when clicking on the image, it often disappeared and we were faced with a list of other 'available' dogs. On one occasion, in this secondary list we noticed a lovely little dog that we felt could be a good companion for our current rescue spaniel. We applied online for that specific dog quoting his reference and heard nothing further - no acknowledgement other than an automated receipt. After a week, we wrote to ask what might have happened to our application. We received a breezy email back saying that the team were very busy but looking for the right dog for us and that our application would be kept open for three months. We then noted in our study of reviews, that other people had experienced this same issue so we wrote back and stated that we were only interested in this one, specific dog and asked - was he or was he NOT available. Backed into a corner, Dogs Trust wrote back another breezy email to say that the 'Pawsome Pooch' - their words - had found his forever home but that they would keep looking for us. However, his details were still showing online. We responded by suggesting that such details should be removed during the latter part of the adoption process or (although we didn't suggest this at the time) we think the word 'reserved' should be put on otherwise it just seems like 'click bait' to get potential owners into the system. We won't be looking at Dogs Trust in the future and will be considering other, less convoluted animal rescues instead.

I think it’s outrageous that this company charges £90 an hour for a dog trainer the dog I’ve got from you is going to need a lot more training than one session not even doctors get £90 an hour. It’s disgusting….

Went to West Calder branch where staff were very helpful and friendly and took their time to ensure we had a good experience and explained everything. No pushing to take on a dog we weren't sure about and took time with us to ensure we had a positive outcome.
