Transferring credit from elec to gas account.

Phoned EDF to ask if some of the excess credit on my electricity account could be transferred across to my gas account. LLOYD-13F was most helpful, and within a couple of minutes the transfer was completed, much to my satisfaction. Thank you, Lloyd!

EDF treating small business badly causing stress.

I rented an art studio where I was responsible for the energy bills. From day one, EDF was very difficult to deal with. They started charging me rates as if I were a large business. I barely use any electricity (£20 usage a month) and I do not use gas. EDF billed me estimate ignoring my meter reading over £1,000 a month. It took several months to get this resolved, and during that time they repeatedly threatened me with legal action. After that, I had to check every single bill because they continued charging me incorrect rates rather than the ones we had agreed upon. In January 2025, extremely high bills—thousands of pounds per month—started appearing again. I had to involve Sunderland Council, my landlord and it took six months to resolve. Apparently, EDF migrated to a new system causing huge bills. I gave my landlord three months’ notice because I had absolutely enough of dealing with EDF and the constant stress. My tenancy ended on 12 November, while the electricity contract itself officially ended on 10 October. In September, I called EDF to ask whether it would be better to disconnect the electricity supply. They advised me to start a new contract that would automatically end when I moved out of the studio. It was supposed to be simple—but it wasn’t. Now they are demanding documents such as a “lease surrender document.” Sunderland Council has confirmed that this is not a lease-surrender case.EDF also emailed me accusing me of switching to another supplier, which I did not do. I simply had enough of dealing with EDF and decided to work from home instead. For three years I experienced stress, constant incorrect bills, and endless phone calls. I am a small art business and was treated extremely poorly by EDF. I am still nowhere near getting my accounts closed because they refuse to accept any correspondence from Sunderland Council, who have confirmed that I no longer rent the studio.
