I was charged over £100 to be introduced to an electrician when I thought they were the electrician themselves. I mentioned that I would not have paid over £300 for just an electrician to assess the job. I would have reached out to the electrician directly instead of using a middleman for that cost.
I contacted the service in an emergency to remove a trapped bird from my chimney, which required removing my gas fire. A contractor came and did a great job, but they mentioned they had never heard of the service before. It became clear that I paid £180 just to be connected with them. While I don't mind paying a fee for an introduction, £180 felt excessive, especially since it was almost equal to what I paid the contractor for the actual work.
From the initial phone call, everything was clearly explained, including pricing, timelines, and the engineer's contact details. My boiler was leaking water everywhere, and when the engineer arrived, he quickly identified the issue and stopped the leak. This service deserves full credit for their communication and engineering skills.
