Not worthy of one star

Not worthy of one star. Absolute diabolical, fraudulent service. I paid for a hire car on 9th Oct for hire on 30th December, from Warrington branch. I received a "your car is ready from Warrington branch" email at 8am on 30th Dec. I arrived at the branch - to find it had closed down months ago! I phoned customer service ( waited a long while and was charged a lot for a 0371 number). All the operator kept saying was "sorry", said there was no manager to talk to and id have to travel to Liverpool to collect a car, and take it back to Liverpool. We were due to leave on our holiday at 9.30am, my family were at home waiting. We had family we'd not seen for 20 years meeting us half way to our destination for lunch, which we didn't make and they've now returned to Canada. I was left in tears trying to get someone to help me. I had to get another car from a local car hire, which because of the late notice was twice as much. I still to this date have had no explanation or a phone call which I was promised. Europcar simply do not care. I've e-mailed, I tried to call, but not a single word back. I have no idea how Europcar are allowed to trade when they illegally sold me a service that did not exist and now I am £250 out of pocket, because of their error.

Shitty experience.

Shitty experience.Last month I was able to get the rental car hassle free and this time they refused to give me the rental car stating that my UK drivers license is under 1 year. Not sure what changed within a month.Pathetic service.

Appalling experience with car rental…

Appalling experience with car rental both here and in Portugal. The hard sell to take out cover I didn't need was bad enough, to then be told to do a 5 star review was laughable. Never received my deposit back despite chasing and escalating a complaint. No-ever responds to my emails. I regularly rent out cars abroad and help others to do so, I will never recommend Europcar. Total rip off

EUROPCAR LIVERPOOL AIRPORT BEWARE - On collection, video every part of the care including under the

I am so angry with this company - On collecting the SUV, it was not the requested intermediate SUV I ordered, it was tiny and so I had to pay an additional 160GBP to fit the family luggage in a larger car. I had to wait for the new car as it was just having a puncture repair, the AMG locking wheel nuts where evident in the car on eventual entry. We dropped the car off and two weeks later, I received an additional invoice for 380 GBP for some light scratches on the underside of the nearside, rear wheel arch. It was impossible to make a scratch in this position UNLESS this was originally caused when changing the oversized AMG wheels. First and last time with this company. Awful.

Never rent with Europcar

I turned up. We had an agreement to rent the car that I wanted, and that you had not provided me with the European branded car for which I selected from your website against the other options which was an MG style car, which was cheaper. I chose the more expensive option of the Peugeot 30083008. That was on offer as I wanted a European safe vehicle to travel in Europe.I felt threatened by the manager and forced into taking a more expensive car to keep my family safe whilst in the car traveling in the UK .I am bitterly disappointed with how it treated. It was embarrassing for my family. We just traveled 24 hours over 24 hours from Australia to rent a car from a reputable international brand and was treated very very poorly with disrespect and told good luck, we will cancel your order, and it’s 6 PM on a Friday night. Good luck trying to find another car company to help you. I was backing into a corner and had no other option. I could not fit the luggage the car that you were provided me that’s why I wanted the Peugeot 3008 that I ordered that I reserved that you could not provide once again your manager was very rude.

TERRIBLE!

TERRIBLE!My booking was made via a broker, but that shouldn't matter. I opted to rent a small car to travel from Scotland to Wales over the Xmas period. On arrival at the europcar office, St. James centre Edinburgh I was politely greeted followed by "would you like to upgrade?". I had no desire to upgrade as it was already expensive and I didn't need a bigger vehicle. This was before I even knew exactly what make and model of car I was about to receive. When I did finally get the keys to my rental car, having had a £700 pound deposit taken from me, I discovered I had unintentionally rented an MG3. My heart sank. The deposit, whilst huge in my opinion wouldn't have bothered me so much, however it had to be taken from my debit card as that was the card I had used to make the booking. I asked to use my credit card for this but was told that wasn't allowed. Now I'm £700 short over the Xmas period with a mortgage and bills upcoming!!I drove the car away, having travelled no more than a mile and already I found the car to be unbearable, the thought of a 5.5hr journey on the M6 when I hadn't even yet reached 30mph was frightening. The road noise was so intrusive I could barely hear my own thoughts, my skeleton was starting to feel the effects of the terrible chassis and suspension.I can only describe this car as a very basic vehicle barely meeting the definition of a car, nevermind a modern car. The engine was so gutless, it was like it was powered by a sewing machine but with the noise of a tractor. The suspension felt like it was made of wood and bricks rather than springs and dampers. The headlights when it became dark were she equivalent of 2 candles and the whole time I'm starting to develop a head ache and ringing ears. I hated this car, really hated it. A quick search on auto trader revealed from 41small cars the MG3 to be the worst at #41.My experience got worse when I returned it. I returned the vehicle early as I was keen to get my deposit back, so wanted to be present when it was inspected on its return. However, I was told that that vehicle wouldn't be inspected until the following day, where it would sit in a public multi-storie car park overnight. The car could be in a very different condition over that time to when it was returned. With regards to the car when I complained, the agent's response was "it's because it's a cheap car". Wow!Now, the car has been returned, but not inspected at that point. I phoned the branch the next at 14:00, but the office is closed, so I phoned customer services. They couldn't even confirm the car had been returned and didn't even know where it was. What??Following day, I phoned the branch to ask for confirmation that the vehicle had been returned and it's condition so I could be assured I was going to receive my deposit. I was told a manger would email me, that didn't happen. A 2nd phone call later in the day and I was told they hadn't emailed me because it was via a broker. They had my email address which had been provided no less than 3 times. I had to push hard for them to agree to send an email confirming the condition of the vehicle and that I was going to get my deposit back. Unbelievable!Having hired many cars from other vendors I've always had a good experience, where the vehicle has been checked on return and good communication, not with EUROPCAR. I will never use them again. Ever!By the way not only was the car rated 41/41, it only has a 3* euro cap rating, meaning it's just about safe.

Scam

Fraud!! What a complete scam at the check in desk. I reserved a car with easycar and paid for an additional driver, and standard insurance. At the Europcar collection desk they offered me the insurance upgrade and I declined, so they said how about instead of the additional driver charge I give you the full insurance so your total costs is almost the same. Sure ok that's a good deal to me. To my surprise when I return and review my credit card bill I have 2 charges. 1 from easycar and 1 from Europcar, total 400 more than the price I signed up for when I booked. What a scam. I am disgusted. At least the other rental companies I have used from Manchester airport have never done anything like this. Updated in response to your comment below: I had raised it on email already and it remains unresolved. You informed me to go speak to EasyCar about the additional driver charge, which indicates your guy had no authority to do what he did and say 'how about we waive the additional driver charge and use that to top up the insurance instead'. Complete scam, I have contacted the bank re unauthorsied charges on my CC. You shouldn't be allowed to operate like this. It's theft.By the way, did you know that Trust Pilot can actually connect you with me if you really want to resolve it. I guess so.

Customer service in customer care is poor.

Customer service at front desk is non existent.Pick up the phone think of all possible bookings you may be losing, too many options and ads, nobody picking up on any options I chose. All I wanted to know was what time are you picking up the car?some of us need to go out or to work and cannot be hovering by the front door until you deem to show up.If our hire time ends at 9.00am please pick up at that time.

Scammers at the desk Manchester Airport

Scammers at the desk Manchester AirportBEWARE the scams at the desk and careful what you sign. I have my own excess insurance so I refused any additional cover but the clerk secretly added this to my documentation which I signed. Company refusing to refund and charged it after the rental was completed. The charge was more than that for the car rental and nearly £200! Use another company who is honest or takes scamming complaints seriously. Edit* Company have refused to refund or investigate. Have complained to the BVLRA

Spam email fraudsters

A couple of years back Europcar scammed me over £100 for a ‘scuffed’ alloy wheel and they have the nerve to send me advertising email/spam saying its been a while since my last rental. Its been a while because you are fraudsters Europcar and I don’t do business with convicted fraudsters.
