I have never had a worse experience in my life. They take money from your account (thousands of pounds) without even informing you for made up damages. They provide no evidence of this damage but are happy to bankrupt you 3 days before Christmas. Horrible people on customer service as well. They couldn’t be less interested if they tried.
Please save yourself the stress and DO NOT USE this illegal scam of a company. I honestly do not know how they sleep at night. They have ruined my Christmas. I have been illegally charged for additional days hire even though I returned the car early as well as being charged for damage that was already on the car. Customer service are some of the rudest people I’ve ever come across in my life and use racist remarks towards customers. It’s absolutely crazy that they can do this to people and I’ll now have to spend my Christmas going through small claims court to retrieve my money.
Do not use Europcar and if you do be prepared to pay over twice the price agreed. I arranged to hire a car before leaving the UK for my holiday in Mexico and when I got there they would not release the car unless I bought a further insurance that doubled the cost of the car. The other people that also did the same as me, trying to collect their car, where also being fleeced by Europcar. I raised this on Facebook and Europcar requested I take this issue off Facebook and they would sort it out for me. If they offer this, do not believe them.. This is all a con. Never use them they are crocked.I tried the customer service who sounded like they would try and help. They asked a lot of questions and then went to sleep. I tried to email them and they just ignored me. I think that customer service is there just to string you out in the hope that you will just go away.
rented the car , also took out extra insurance for cover, then got a bill for 1119.00euros for a scrape on the wheel, telling me they need to replace it, absolute joke, took the pictures to alloy wheel specialist and was told that it be no problem to sort it without having to renew the wheel, emailed eurocar with this with no response from them just a letter threatening me with debt collectors.
I had booked to pick up a car with Europcar at Birmingham Airpot in England through an online website. I found the sales person very arrogant he refused me the saying they could not verify me through there credit agency search. Which I found difficult to understand considering I had taken a car from the same location twice in the past few months prior to the last refused rental.Nevertheless I got charged for the rental, I was told that as Europcar didn’t take me payment the third party will refund the money. I got the feeling it’s because I was happy to sign the contract even after been told that I would be liable to the damage to the car because I refused to take out any extra add insurance from them, because this same person who stated they could not find my name on a credit check was present the last time I rented from that branch and I refused to take extra insurance from them. I actually choose Europcar because I believed it to be a reputable company, never again.
Europcar UK is a fraud. They charge for the same scratch multiple times, there is no evidence at the paperwork, if you ask them, they would come with an internal ruler showing what size of scratch or dent is allowed and where but if you go to the terms and conditions, there is no such a thing like 'a damage size allowance' on regular cars. Scratch on the wheels were on the photos before and after, they sent me bill 521 gbp for scratch on 2 wheels. Car returned in August 2024, invoice came in Oct/Nov 2024, I have dispute, as on 18/Dec still not resolved. Also, I have another contract with them, where a car had a sticker it has been cleaned but in fact there were spiders nets on multiple areas, not cleaned at all, screenwash was completelly dry, with multiple scratches all over and without any evidence in paperwork. The car was in unsafe condition. We phoned multiple times, sent emails, with official letter and photos attached, without any answer or solution. It has been since August 2024, till Dec 2024 still open case, no answer. On the other hand they want to send my 'unpaid invoice 521 for their damages' to solicitors. When I sent an email with photos, they replied I have not sent the correct photos, etc. I am preparing official complain to inform car rental regulators. I have rented cars with turo, I have 5* reviews, also with alamo and others. From what I tried, just europcar is a massive scam.
As promised, your one star review for cancelling my moving van booking on the day of the move without offering a suitable alternative . As discussed, had I cancelled the booking you'd have charged me a fee, yet I am supposed to take it?Shockingly, the same van type is available to book online from your branch, how is this any way to run a business?Booking elsewhere at short notice has cost me more money. Advice to others, don't give this company your money.
I was their regular customer, but will never use their services again, because after one incident feel like they stole from me. I was using Europcar branch at the London City Airport and rented Fiat 500 on December 18th 2024 for two days. Had no accidents, returned the car safely, only to be told I've made a damage to the front windscreen. A tiny two dots, visible only from close. I'm 100% sure they were there already, but they weren't documented. I did took pictures of the car on the day I've got it, but the problem is that the pictures taken were from the few steps away and although you can see something is there, but if you zoom in, the picture becomes blurry and the damage is not exactly visible. It's so small (like 1mm), you can barely see it from close. So now they've froze my 500£ deposit ant investigating the matter. Investigation is already going for more than a month, no indication when it might end. But even if it did happen, maybe without me noticing, the damage is so minor, you could literally find 50 more scratches this size throughout the vehicle. I mean, it wasn't a new car, to look at a dot and say you'll need what, to replace the screen? And what is there to investigate for a month and ongoing? I'm a single mother working two jobs to survive, these 500£ are very important for me, but the the company doesn't care. Also, I would like to point out the extreme rudeness of the Europcar employee who examined the car upon it's return. She noticed the damage straight away (as if she new where to look) and was acting aggressively towards me. Didn't allow me to take the picture of the tag with her name on it and did not write her name on the Statement of Return report she wrote. Unfortunately, I don't remember her name now, at the moment we spoke I felt under stress, in part because how aggressively she spoke. I will forever regret the day I chose Europcar.
Doesn’t even deserve even 1 star I rented a car and the car charging port wasn’t working, they made us take it to the Aldi garage spent my whole day waitin for somone to tell me what was going on, I was on holiday for 3 days 1 days wasted already then gave us a car with much less value, still didn’t sort the difference for that then said they was nothing wrong with the car and told us they wouldn’t charge for the fuel as ther is a deal but still charged us 100£ for fuel on a 1 litre seat Leon, fyi you can’t even put 100£ fuel worth in the car. They also tried to say it was the charging station but the 4 hours trying to sort it out 2 other vehicles charged a left the station. Honestly the worst company, they respectfully decline a refund. Biggest joke company
