Disgusting treatment by Europa courtesy car thru AA.

We were given a courtesy car thru AA.Europa left car on Friday when they had arranged Saturday.I went out, started it up,absolutely horrendous stink.Mechanic next door says clutch has burned out, only just over 2 months old.I Rang Europa cars 4 times this morning, each time they said someone was coming out.Failing to inform us they close at 1pm Saturdays. They are disgusting. They knew they closed at 1,but kept us hanging on anyway.I have an autistic disabled son and they left us high and dry. Comes to 12 45,I rang AA who were brilliant, says Europa cars have account with AA who are now coming out to look at car,a Hyundai.Europa cars will have to pay.Europa told us yesterday they will collect curtesy car at 9am today. Its 11 30 and after 3 calls saying they will ring us when they are collecting, still nothing.it's a very frustrating procedure to even get through to right department.Leave keys under plant pot was suggested..oh my goodness,I would never use this company again. It was only through AA we found ourselves using them.Nowadays no one seems to care.

Europcar Bristol Airport.

I prepaid for a vehicle online and picked it up from Bristol Airport. The customer service agent who dealt with my booking was courteous, knowledgeable and professional. The process was seamless. On my return two days later,at a predetermined drop off area,I was greeted by Antony. He proceeded to check the vehicle and then completed all paperwork with diligence and attention. He too,was professional and courteous. All in all,a very good experience.I will have no hesitation to use Europcar for any further requirements.

When doing everything right wasn’t enough for Europcar

After a smooth trip and returning my rental car, I thought everything was sorted. But a week later, I received an email from Europcar informing me of a £35 fine, along with a £45 administrative fee. I immediately paid the fine and sent the proof of payment to Europcar, believing the issue would be resolved. However, much to my frustration, I received a generic email stating that the £45 fee would be charged regardless, even though I had resolved the fine myself, with no intervention required from Europcar. After leaving a review describing this absurd experience, Europcar responded with a standard message:“Give us the chance to solve the issue by providing more details using this link, where our customer service team will be in touch.”But here’s the truth: this is the same canned response Europcar sends to every complaint. It seems like an attempt to publicly appear responsive, but in reality, they simply do not reply to emails. I followed their instructions, submitted my information, and waited patiently. Days passed, and I received no response, no follow-up, and no resolution – just silence. It’s clear that this automatic response is nothing more than an attempt to create the illusion of addressing complaints. I wouldn’t be surprised if most customers, like me, never hear back. Europcar appears more interested in maintaining a façade of good customer service than actually providing it.This experience has only deepened my disappointment with Europcar. Charging an unfair fee is bad enough, but ignoring customers who seek solutions is even worse. Conclusion: Europcar, your practices are unfair, and your lack of commitment to customer satisfaction is glaringly obvious. To anyone reading this: if you value your money and your peace of mind, avoid this company. I will never rent from Europcar again.

Unfair and unjust charges!

I had an extremely frustrating experience with Europcar UK due to unjust charges and a lack of accountability.First, I was charged over £100 for roadside assistance, which was never properly explained at the rental desk as a daily fee instead of a one-time charge. Had this been made clear, I would have declined or opted for full insurance, which would have been a far better choice. Instead, I was rushed into signing multiple documents without any real explanation.Even worse, I was charged over £200 for a faulty tyre that developed a bubble after just 215 miles over 8 days—something that shouldn’t happen with a properly maintained vehicle. This raises serious concerns about Europcar’s safety standards. It seems that Europcar relies on renters purchasing insurance to cover defective or substandard parts, knowing they can shift the cost to insurance companies rather than ensuring vehicles are well-maintained. Those who decline extra coverage are left footing the bill for Europcar’s own negligence.Hoping for fair treatment, I escalated this to BVRLA, expecting them to step in. But rather than questioning Europcar’s practice of shifting costs onto customers, BVRLA chose to focus only on Europcar’s paperwork, avoiding any real attempt to hold them accountable. This approach allows Europcar to continue misleading and overcharging customers without consequences.Renters deserve better—clear terms, properly maintained vehicles, and fair business practices. Not hidden charges, misleading explanations, and financial penalties for defects that aren’t their fault.

Never again. They trick customer with small print.

Rented car for £89. Ended up with bill Euro 307. FIRST AND LAST TIME WITH THIS COMPANYThey don't give you the car you paid for online. Put pressure to buy extra insurance for free upgrade. They do not mention prices are excluding VAT. On final bill you receive charges such as Environmental contribution (euro 3) Premium Station (euro 42) which are never mentioned at the time of renting. After a long flight, nobody reads the small print on the contract they make customers sign, then end up with a bill three times the rental price. Be very careful or ideally avoid this company. UPDATE: 4 Feb 2025This company is a joke. They send a reply to the bottom of Trustpilot message. The link takes you to a department who then refers you to the initial department you made the complaints to. From my end, I informed the HR of our company who stopped working with them, circulated my experience with them on Facebooks so friends are aware and will be mentioning their behavior in every opportunity.

Horrendous experience

Horrendous experienceTook over £200 for a booking online, then the branch called me a few minutes after and said they couldn't honour it as they didn't have the cars. End result: I'm waiting for the refund to be given to me and in the meantime I can't afford another booking as they are sitting on the money. I'm utterly stranded. It's hard to imagine how they could have screwed me over any more spectacularly.Avoid like the plague.UPDATE: like everyone else with a negative experience they try to get you to contact them. I did and have heard nothing back... like everyone else. If you live near Stoke on Trent / Stafford, use Afford. I did and the difference in customer care was astonishing.

Avoid Europcar and Mercedies Dartford

Car was delivered late into the evening (pitch black) was told by the lady delivering as it was dark and raining that the car was ok - checked the next morning all ok - dropped back the following to Dartford Mercedies Dealership who took keys on behalf of Europcar - Got an invoice for £91 and that wheels were damaged. Car had travelled less than 10 miles during my hire (to-and-back) to the dealership only. Someone has damaged the car and not been honest!

Won’t be going back.

I have rented several times from Europcar in the past 12 months, and had no issues until now. I have been charged £106 (inc £45 admin fee) for a scratch to an alloy that I did not cause. I’ve pleaded my case, and they aren’t interested. They also said that I drove almost 100 miles more than I did (no mileage limit but still incorrect). I guarantee that they won’t be fixing the scratch either as the car had various pre existing dents and scrapes. I won’t be renting from them ever again, which will cost them more than the alleged damage that they’ve charged me for.I should add that the staff at the Aberdeen Airport branch are great, and always very polite and helpful, always go out of their way to help.EDIT: Do not be fooled by Europcar’s response to negative reviews. They do not engage with further emails, and clearly have little interest in resolving any issues.
