The GM Financial by far the most untrustworthy and scammy lease company I’ve ever dealt with. After returning our leased vehicle with 15,000 fewer miles than allowed, we were shocked to receive a $1,008.99 charge. We’d think returning a car in better-than-expected condition would work in our favor, especially considering the vehicle now holds greater resale value for them with fewer miles. Instead, we were slapped with a charge for a tire supposedly measuring 2/32", a highly questionable and arbitrary claim. When we reached out to discuss the issue, the representative we spoke with, Tera, showed no intention of resolving it reasonably. Rather than engaging in any meaningful dialogue or showing empathy, she simply issued a veiled threat to report the outstanding balance to credit bureaus, harming our credit score if the full balance wasn’t paid, despite the obvious unfairness of the charge. In an effort to settle things amicably, we even offered to pay $808.99 if they would reduce the charge by just $200. That too was dismissed without consideration. It’s clear that GM Financial does not care about their customers, only about squeezing every dollar they can out of the customers. The behavior suggests that their employees are more motivated by commissions than customer service. This was a truly unpleasant and frustrating experience. I strongly urge anyone considering GM Financial to look elsewhere. There are far more professional and customer-oriented lease companies out there. Do yourself a favor and stay away from GM Financial.
Horrible customer service. The customer service representatives and a supervisor were consistently rude and unhelpful! This is my third lease but after this, I will NEVER get another GM product due to my recent experiences with them. My mother has also been a loyal Chevy buyer but I shared my experience with her and she has also stated she will never purchase another GM product due to the horrible customer service. Almost ten years of consistent payments from me, and yet they do not value loyal customers at all.
I set up automatic payment to pay my car loan. They would not take the final payment automatically. I had to jump through hoops to make the final payment. Should be easy but GM financial made it difficult. There is no way to avoid a fee to use a credit card or ACH payment from checking. Not what I expected.
My son has been trying to get a corrected title from GM for at least the past 4 months or so. GM erroneously report his car, it was returned after he paid the balance, which was less than $3k. Apparently, immediately after the repossession they changed the title to themselves/ finance company, as the buyer, knowing full well, my son was the buyer. They never corrected the title. Took the title to the local DMV, they said they couldn't change it over because his name is nowhere on the title although they sent a letter stating he paid it off (btw, he paid it off 7/2023, yet they sent a letter stating it was paid off 10/23, this was corrected). He contacted GM who told him it'll be 6 MORE weeks to get the correct title, meanwhile he can't register his car & he's having to drive around with that letter and pray everyday until they do their damn job. GM FINANCIAL IS AWFUL
CREDIT ABUSERS! After 12 years of loyalty, GM financial unfairly dropped my credit score by 100 points due to a fraudulent payment error caused by identity theft. Despite my efforts to resolve the issue immediately, they refused to correct it. Their unethical handling of this situation shows they care more about penalizing customers than fixing their mistakes. Such an awful company to use; never again GM Financial
They told me I owed $0 when I turned in my lease and I never missed a payment, I even has unused miles. Then they said I owed $500. I disagreed and they would not have a conversation with me about it or come to a compromise. They did not even offer to credit my unused miles toward that mysterious $500 end of lease fee. Then they reported to the credit bureaus that I had missed a lease payment because of this $500 fee which is fraudulent because it was not a lease payment. they called it a lease termination fee which is not part of my monthly payments. That is a violation of my rights under the CFRA and immediately makers their action illegal, erroneous and fraudulent. This happened like end of january early february
I am extremely frustrated with GM Financial. I’ve had nothing but issues since I started my loan with them. Despite making my monthly payment on time, as well as an extra principal payment, the extra payment did not reduce my loan balance as expected. It was applied to future payments instead, and when I contacted customer service, they didn’t provide a clear or satisfactory explanation. The customer service team was difficult to reach, and once I did get through, the answers were vague and unhelpful. This has been a frustrating experience, and I feel like I’m paying more than I should be due to mismanagement of my payments. I would not recommend GM Financial to anyone based on my experience. Their billing process and lack of transparency have left me incredibly dissatisfied.”
