So helpful for a first time mum!

The online sessions combined with the in person workshops were really helpful, especially being a first time mum. The midwife who ran the sessions was personable and approachable. If anyone asked a question to which she wasn't sure of the answer she went away and told us the week after. Met a great bunch of people too. Would definitely recommend!

We really enjoyed the antenatal course…

We really enjoyed the antenatal course with Happy Parents Happy Baby. The content of the sessions was informative, and the midwife leading our sessions, Fiona, was very knowledgeable. It's a nice relaxed way to learn helpful parenting tips and meet other new parents-to-be.

The HPHB course was brilliant

The HPHB course was brilliant. It was the right mix of listening and hands practical examples. As well as follow up Q&A sessions. Having the videos available to watch before the session or recap was greatly appreciated. Sally, our midwife was brilliant, there were no silly questions and she put everyone at ease. I would highly recommend the course for first time parents, I knew nothing and now feel more prepared. Thank you for putting a great course together.

Informative classes

Very informative, taught with empathy and energy and a great space to connect with other people going through the same thing. Would definitely recommend to parents to be 💛

Such a relaxed way to learn about all…

Such a relaxed way to learn about all things baby and in a social way. I would recommend the course to all new parents and even as a refresher for non new parents. Great way to meet people going through the same thing as you and who are based locally and also a great portal which has videos to watch each week so you know what to expect in the in-person sessions.

We weren’t sure what to expect heading…

We weren’t sure what to expect heading to the first session but the whole experience was way better than I had in mind. At first you’re not sure how you’ll bond with strangers but you really do and the content and practical nature of the session made it so much easier to learn as opposed to reading countless stuff online. Having the trainer be a midwife who worked locally was amazing and so useful to padding out context and information. I would really recommend to any parent looking to meet people locally but also learn vital info.

Can’t recommend enough!

Lauren was absolutely fantastic, and I’d highly recommend her for any baby classes. It gave myself and my partner the confidence and reassurance we were looking for being a first time parents. We’ve also made great friendships with some other local new parents from the course.

Worth every penny.

We joined the Walthamstow July HPHB course as first time parents hoping for a bit of help in what you can describe as a bit of an overwhelming time! The classes were fantastic - we felt really equipped at the end of the course with a lot more knowledge than we had when we went in! I particularly liked the practical exercises which meant you practiced things like first aid, swaddling etc. The best part about the class is meeting new people and you get time during each class to get to know all the other parents to be- we've started our own WhatsApp chat after and are already planning some meet ups. Thank you to HPHB!

Private Antenatal Classes – Honest Review (Newport-Based Mum comparing to NHS Solihull classes)

I recently attended the Happy Parent, Happy Baby private antenatal course, and while there were some helpful parts, the overall experience didn’t fully meet my expectations — especially when comparing it to the free NHS antenatal classes.I’m based in Newport, and the closest available course was in Cardiff, which added travel time. The venue wasn’t great — there was no air conditioning (thats during the heat wave. They had a small desk fan for 13 couples plus the person delivering the course. The venue had big windows that we couldn’t fully open for health and safety reason I assume) and uncomfortable chairs, which really matters when you’re heavily pregnant and sitting for hours. There were 13 couples in the group, which felt too large. It made the sessions less interactive and harder to engage in discussions or ask questions. On top of that, our midwife had to cancel one of the face-to-face sessions, so the social event happened mid-course instead of at the end. That really disrupted the structure — especially the Q&A sessions, which were thrown off. We’d end up joining a Q&A on Thursday to ask questions about material that hadn’t been covered yet (which was scheduled for the following Monday), making it hard to follow along. To be fair, the baby first aid module was useful and wasn’t part of the NHS Solihull course — but you can do that separately through the NHS for free if needed. One big difference I noticed was that the NHS Solihull classes were run by an ex-midwife, and the facilitators had access to all the information about the local hospital. They were able to answer every question, from what to expect during labour to how things actually work at the hospital. In contrast, the midwife running the private classes was from Bridgend, so couldn’t offer the same local insight. If I could go back, I’d have chosen a smaller, local antenatal course based in Newport, ideally with fewer couples and a more comfortable venue. The structure and personalised feel of the NHS Solihull classes made a much bigger impact overall.

Really enjoyed the HPHB course

Really enjoyed the HPHB course! It covered everything you could imagine you’d need to know when becoming a new parent. We now have access to a wide range of resources and expert advice and it made me feel more confident as I get ready to enter this new chapter. Also really loved the location the in person sessions were held in.
