Interesting Meeting;
My interviewer Joseph Lee was polite and professional. It has been years since I done this type of inquiry and most importantly applying for a loan of this magnitude. I had lots of question and since, Joseph inform me that we only have 30 min., because he has other interviewers waiting. I had to rush the question I had written down. I was able to understand most of his responses, however. I couldn't go back to make sure I understood him due to the lack of time. This is why I gave 4 stars.
I am extremely impressed with Tomo Mortgage. It’s customer service, automation and ease of application made getting pre-approval easy. I applied online, spoke with an actual loan officer (Peter G), and received a pre-approval letter within hours. As a retiree with assets but no W-2 income, I found that service to be extraordinary. Moreover, their rates for conventional mortgages are spot on the market, and contain no loan origination or other hidden fees. Last, Tomo is extremely responsive in updating/running different scenarios, loan amounts, etc. for different properties I’m looking at. I could not be happier with this level of service

Michael Welsh, Senior Loan Advisor was pleasant to work with, very professional, knowledgeable and provided what he said he would, did not deviate. Unfortunately, I went in another direction with my home purchase but will keep Michael in mind for the future and provide recommendations to use Michael for home loans.
Went back and forth with the representative multiple times to get a rate. Also had to explain the situation each and every time I would message the lender. He never flowed up, I always had to follow up to find out the status. Then all the sudden I get an email thanking me for working with them and to review the experience. Lender rep never responded with what the final rate would be. Very poor communication. Tomo missed out on an opportunity as the purchase was a done deal.
HORRIBLE experience dealing with Tomo. From the beginning of the loan application process, Jack assured me Tomo could finance me with a better rate than the first lender I applied with do I proceeded, as I obviosly wanted the best rate possible. Jack got rude and dismissive when I kept following up because my closing date was approaching and they were moving too slow. So I asked for a supervisor and got Aaron. He was even worse, accusing me of being unethical because I was applying with mortgages with 2 companies! Finally, I got to his supervisor Jacob, who apologized and assured me they would get their sh*t together and then I never heard from him again!! They strung me along throughout the process, moving VERY slowly, telling me I was pre-apporoved, conditionally approved, approved, and finally cleared to close. Then 3 days before my closing they tell us that we are no longer cleared to close, then drug their feet before changing the terms of my loan (telling me I needed $30k more to close), then asking for more documents the evening before my closing!!! Thank God I had an alternative mortgage company ready, because Tomo would have cost me my home and my $10k earnest money 😡 To make matters worse, they were rude and unprofessional on several occasions throughout the process. I would NOT recommend gambling your chances of financing with this company. Now in hindsight, I see many other people have had almost the same exact experienceas me. Tomo's promised lower rates are bait and switch....its not worth gambling with them and risking losing your house and money!

I was looking for mortgage options and came across them on a comparison site. During the initial phone call, the representative started leaving a message before the recording began, making it unclear and failing to provide a name or a phone number that was comprehensible. Later, I received a second call from a different person who again did not leave a name, and the message was just as unclear. I could barely make out the name, which sounded like "Tomo" but could have easily been something else. When I tried to call back, I reached a recording and decided to hang up. A few minutes later, a third representative called, claiming they missed my call. This time it was a female voice. I informed her that I was no longer interested. Instead of thanking me and ending the conversation, she questioned, "I thought you were mortgage shopping?" I reiterated my decision and remarked that if they couldn't manage to leave a clear message, I couldn't trust them with my mortgage. She apologized and mentioned, "if anything changes," to which I firmly responded that there was nothing they could do to regain my trust.
While searching for a mortgage, I discovered this service.
