Moved in to our extra care complex a couple of days ago and have to say all the staff and carers have been so helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Set up our new broadband and phone as l was having problems and everyone is very welcoming
In Curtis court there seems to be a few people intent on idile gossiping even people that can't leave there flats to defend them self's are gossipped about not in a nice way the flats themselves are warm dry and comfortable nothings wrong with them in my opinion
If you are thinking of moving to Robert Wheatman Court, Grangetown, Sunderland I would think again if you want hygienic laundry facilities. The present washers and driers are ancient and beset with problems. One of the main problems which have been going on for months are the washers do not get rid of the soap that is used leaving residents with skin problems. Management at local level and above are aware of this and refuse to solve the problem leaving residents susceptible to skin problems. Think again any prospective residents.
I have had a problem with a so called carer when I first came in here. She made a call and everything was alright nothing needed to be done so she sat down and entered her report in the book and left. She wasn’t in my apartment more than three minutes but she had written that she had washed up and cleaned other things which took her 30 minutes. This was a false statement so I took it down to the office. As far as I am aware nothing was done. Things got worse and she became unstable, she would start shouting on and on,I would discribe as verbal diarrhoea she wouldn’t shut up.She was told not to come into my apartment but she did come in and picked my little dog up I told her to put the dog down and get out of my apartment she put the dog down and gave me the finger sign with both hands.Again nothing was done.Another time I was waiting by the front door for my son to visit I heard the doors open and when I looked round it was her when she saw me she just went hysterical and ran round to the care office where she was taken inside by other carers and later sent home, I had not even spoke to her. Nothing was done. The latest was worse,I had taken my little dog out before six in the morning when I was coming back I saw her get out of a car and started shouting she was about 40 yards away. All I wanted to do was to get inside on my scooter.i got to the front doors and pressed the button, the doors opened and I went forward the next thing was I didn’t see her but she flatted into me and she was hitting me on my chest and face. She ran into the care office screaming and shouting and once again was sent home.I CALLED THE POLICE and when they came to see me they said it was me who caused the problem.I didn’t see her until she went into me and if I meant to drive my scooter into the carer would I call the police? The carer had already been sent home before the police arrived so they wouldn’t have seen her.And she is still off work, She is unstable and shouldn’t be in a place like this. The residents in here pay for caring but sometimes we get abused. I am 85 years old and a Royal Navy War Pensioner who has never been in any trouble in my long life.I know other residents have had trouble with this carer so I am not on my own,the complaints have gone in but nothing was done. The other day some friends of mine whose sister was in this court before she died met just outside the front door. The manager came out and stood a few yards away listening what we were talking about,That is intimidation.Awhile ago I was told to go into the office with the manager and deputy manager where they started telling me not to tell any outsiders what happens in here,I was being “Grilled”Because what had happened to me when I was in the navy the doctors have told me to stay away from any stress because it could cause me to have another stroke or a heart attack and they were putting me under pressure. I have found a bungalow to move into to get out of this place and when I attended a meeting with the manager I was told that I had a months notice to leave and that I would have to be out by the 30th of this month AND NOT TO ENTER FILEY FIELDS AGAIN OR ANY OTHER HOUSING 21 HOMES. I have not been able to put my case forward. All the other carers in Filey Fields have been wonderful and I thank them for all the help they gave me, also many thanks to the restaurant workers for their help and friendship. There is no way that I want to make one step or one wheel in here when I leave but if Housing 21 carries out this ban I will take further action.Reg Fort
