Lands End Parking. I paid the £8 (as per my credit card) and printed a ticket (which I have). They then fined me £100. The ticket has only got the first 2 letters of my registration admittedly but how was I to know that it did not print the full number?. They make it difficult to contact them. I am going through the appeals process, but they will charge the full fine and not a reduced fine if you fail. I am opting to get my money back from the small claims court.
BEWARE! I got sent a £100 fine for being 33mins 47 seconds over. These are based on the images of me ARRIVING and LEAVING the car park, not allowing for finding a space when it is busy, waiting for a family to exit a space and then use the app to pay for the actual time I was parked - also filling in the Additional Information required for the insurance that they offer you at checkout- which seemed like a good idea at the time... I've also been sent a fine for a few seconds later where I must be picked up on two cameras for the same offence?! (#1Arriving 10.39.02 #2 arriving 10.39.14) (#1 leaving 16.13.11 #2 leaving 16.13.01) christ knows how I contest that if no one is getting anywhere and I have duplicate charges. My back is against the wall to contest as if I do I forfit the ability to pay the £60 instead of £100.Reading below it sounds like that's going to get me nowhere. A crock of s***, very sneaky. Tell everyone and spread the word so they don't get done over, this needs to be clearer on arrival signs and I'm surprised the ombudsmen isn't more interested in this. Very sneaky
My advice like many others is to avoid any car parks controlled by these money grabbing robots! There is an argument to say penalties are a deterrent to avoid misuse of car parks and stop people staying beyond what you've paid for. However, most people in a fair and law abiding society would accept that you don't pay immediately upon entering a car park as you're either waiting for friends to arrive or getting kids and boards unloaded before paying and the same the other end of the the stay. You don't have this option with these robot systems. Don't risk it. I paid for 4 hours, but overstayed 11 minutes each side of this time and slapped with an £85 fine! It won't deter me from overstaying my paid parking, it will mean I never give them any money every again. The more people that don't use their car parks, the less money they make!!!!
Difficult to be constructive. We parked in Abersoch village hall in August. While in the village my wife fell down some steps, which turned out to be a broken ankle. As a result I was 6 minutes late getting back to the car. A parking charge followed in the post. I contacted them with evidence of the hospital appointment and photos of my wife’s foot in a surgical boot but they didn’t want to know. As a result I appealed to POPLA who again after reviewing my supporting evidence ruled in favour of initial, I wonder if they have ever ruled otherwise. On return from 3 months in Spain I had a 170 pound demand letter from Debt Recovery Plus although negative might be more appropriate than plus. I’ve today decided to pay it as can’t be bothered going to court. We are both pensioners and always pay parking fees where required as we did here. I don’t normally write negative reviews on line even if I have a bad meal in a restaurant but I am so appalled my any lack of sympathy or acknowledgement of the facts. The POPLA letter even offered us the opportunity to pay on a link, how can they be independent?
I parked in the fistral beach for an hour and then got sent a letter of PCN after 2 weeks just cuz I didn’t pay for 31 mins that I stayed extra. On entry we didn’t find a parking as the places were full but after 20-25 mins when we found our parking we went to the payment area but only coins were accepted and no contactless or card payments were accepted and on top there was barely any internet working so it took time for us to pay and it didn’t even allow us to pay for 2 hours so we only paid for an hour and we left within an hour. But on the exit there was a van blocking the way and by the time the driver came and moved the van took us another 5 to 10 mins and that’s normal if we go to any other car park. When we appealed they rejected it as they have so called terms and conditions. So this was stupid to send a PCN just cuz we didn’t leave in time.
How can this company improve? They could start by showing some humanity and common sense!I parked in the Slate Quay car park on 31st July. Followed all the instructions and paid £8 by card and a ticket was printed out, which I displayed in the windscreen. On 10th August I received a penalty notice demanding £60 for not paying the parking charge. I immediately appealed sending a photo of the parking ticket which I'd luckily kept.I thought this would be the end of the matter, but no! Appeal refused as they now say that I only entered the first two letters of my registration number and for that they can charge me £20!!!! Ridiculous! Why would anyone do that? (The ticket was printed with the First two letters) It is their machine that is at fault, but of course they know I can't prove it. I have paid after reading the threats in the letter of having to pay more.I can only warn other people about this company.
They are a scam do not pay tickets half the web sights on there letters are fake and they don’t ask for a ref when u pay and the reference number on the letters don’t exist when u try and pay they can’t take it further and if they try they will loose it’s a fauls web page
Visiting recently to Mousehole in Cornwall from the U S , went into initials parking lot and tried with several other people to pay with card , cash and their app to no avail ,only to get back home and be charged $120 dollars for 15minutes of trying to pay our fee , then leaving to go park elsewhere , this is so obvious they are running a scam business and cannot believe they are being allowed to do so. Find it so interesting how many others have fell prey to this as well ,disgusted they can get away with it, can also see why they dont put a phone number on their website, total scum bags should be out of business tomorrow !!
As expected, nothing good to say about this company. Misleading signage and when I tried to contact to verify they initially failed to answer my questions and then failed to respond following several further emails. I think I am going to adopt the tape/tea towel tactic as so many others do. Clearly these days honesty isn't the best policy and I will endeavor to treat this company as they have treated me - with no respect!
The same happened to me in Falmouth I only had two digits for my car reg, so they admitted I had paid but not for the reg of my car. I then contacted falmouth Harbour and informed them of there tactictics as this does nothing but harm the local community as people will not return, since this incident happened I would never use any carpark managed by these blood suckers and for the companies that use them they are doing more harm than good to the local business's like my self i will never return to falmouth
