AVOID INITIAL CAR PARKS IF POSSIBLE. We parked at their Fistral Beach location a couple of weeks ago, took 15 mins to find a space (It's incredibly busymy in the summer and quite narrow) and get our 2 hour ticket. We spent a lovely couple of hours on the beach and left the parking space just before the 2 hours were up and joined the queue out of the car park (another 8 mins). A week later we recieve a £100 fine in the post, apparently we were 23mins over the ticket value. Appealed it and they rejected it withing 10 mins of receiving. It turns out that there is an ANPR camera at the top of the hill/entrance. There's NO barrier or significant signage telling you this! Apparently your supposed to pay from the time you entered/exited the car park and not the time on the ticket from the machine! Be very careful using this car park! Make sure you note when you enter the car park, the ticket time means nothing apparently, all about the fines for this private company based miles away in Birmingham.
BE WARNED. Did anyone else receive a fine on 21st August even though they paid? Fistral Beach car park. Wouldn't let me pay by card so paid with coins. No ticket was issued but I had put my registration into the machine so assumed it was out of paper and that was ok. Paid for two hours but only stayed just over an hour and have received a PCN for £100! Absolute madness! How is it our fault the machine wasn't working properly? If the contactless card section of the machine had been working I would have had proof on my bank account but it wasn't. The machine took my car reg and accepted payment in cash. If I had put more money in to try again the same thing would have happened. I appealed on online and got a reply saying it has been rejected. I will have to pay the fine as I am sure in their 't&cs' there will be something to say you have to call if the machine isn't working. Although I am going to check this. Please be warned - if no ticket is issued and you have paid, you will get a fine. I paid my parking but still have to pay a fine through no fault of my own as I cannot prove I paid as no card entry on my bank, no receipt and no ticket. I am so mad. Where is the consumer's rights in this? For people who just want to spend time at the beach, restaurants or shops at Fistral whilst on holiday this is absolute daylight robbery and I don't see how it is legal.
Wouldn't even give 1 star absolute scum. Charged for not even parking but being stuck in their car park at fistral beach! Cameras put at the top of the hill knowing full well you'll end up stuck in there during busy times and not be able to get out in the 10 minutes! Trying to appeal but doubtful we'll get far.. their evidence is photos of their signage from 2020... wonder how many times they've used these! Sounds like any amount of time spent in their car parks is going to cost you £100 pretty sure 90% of people who enter a car park owned by this company will get fined!! AVOID AVOID AVOID get rid of these scammers!!!
This is a pcn technology exploitative scam parking firm.Take a little time to park. Take a little time to get to the machine or notice board.Take a little time to sort out you online ticket purchase in bad signal areas.Take a little time to exit the car park.Do this and you will get a letter demanding £100 in the post.£60 if you pay it right away.( over what?)10 minutes! They will use a picture of when you enter and a picture of when you left.I would avoid this unless you are prepared to over pay. They make money from this instead of using this tech to help their customers. Pay when you leave would be good.
The review relates to Initial Parking management at the Slate Quay Car Park Caernarfon, owned by the Caernarfon Harbour Trust.Having entered the car park and negotiating the crowded and parked space ( packing them in to get as much revenue as possible) I made my way to the ticket machines at the main entrance. There are four machines packed tightly, no social distancing here. The screens are dull, with strong sunlight hard to see, I did not see the requirement to enter a reg, I did however pay the full amount for the time I needed. The machine allowed me to print a ticket without a registration number so no warning, I paid with my card fortunately, so I had a bank record of payment to the Caernarfon Harbour Turst, no mention of Initial Parking. Stayed the correct time and left sometime later. Three days later got a Parking Charge Notice. It claimed "Unpaid Tariff Time ) FIRST BIG LIE.I entered into their "Appeal Process" I had payment proof, I had their own time proof. My Appeal was rejected because I had not entered my reg number , the wording was very careful, it appears I did not hold up my end of the "contract " I had not complied with the BPA code of Practice. Humm ?They also stated " On 18/08/2024, the vehicle was parked without this payment being made" SECOND BIG LIE. they had the proof payment had been made and that the vehicle had entered and left within the time allowed for the tariff paid. The whole process is full of threat and demand, pay this amount or else, do this or the amounts will increase, its not far off demanding money with menaces. Their bottom line pay an adim fee and it will all go away. Any company that is quite prepared to Lie so openly should not be allowed to operate, certainly not for a TRUST.If you must use this car park be very careful, make sure you pay by card so you have Bank Proof of Payment, I can just imagine how difficult it would be if you used coins. Make sure you enter reg number carefully, I see other reviews where they get you for mistyped reg number. If possible dont use any car park run by this lot!
Paid for the time I parked but as it took 5 mins to drive in and out of the car park they claim I have not paid enough. Fed up of arguing so paid the fine, which I know is what they want. Just spreading the word to everyone to avoid their car parks at all costs. Con artists.
Don't park in any car park run by Initial Parking! They are thieves and robbers. Just paid £60 PCN, for Marazion Long Stay Car Park. We paid for parking, but machine didn't print a ticket. Signs stated there was no need to display a ticket so thought we were covered. Received Parking Charge Notice PCN 2 weeks later. We appealed the decision, but that was a waste of time. It appears that this is their business model, making their money by robbing their customers via an overcomplicated parking system, with virtually no recourse. Check out other reviews to see how others have struggled. If we had not paid then fair enough, fine us, but we paid. St Michaels Mount was nice to see, but not worth £60 plus the parking fee. If you see Initial Parking signs, drive the other way quickly.
I can't believe what has happened to me at the hands of Initial Parking.I entered one of their Car Parks in Cornwall. It was super busy and I couldn't find a space. Not in a hurry, I drove round hoping someone would leave. Other drivers were doing the same thing. After 15 minutes I gave up and left.I then received a Parking charge, having not got out of my car or turned my engine off. I have appealed, but these money grabbing people are unlikely to agree that this charge is ridiculous. Beware of Initial Parking folks !!!!!!
Parked as Marazion and paid for 3 hours, using JustPark app. started my session at the point I reached the pay machines after parking and left inside the 3 hours. Was sent £100 fine for staying 3 hours 20 minutes as the time started when the camera took a photo of me entering the car park. I appealed to Initial Parking and they rejected my appeal within a day. I furthered my appeal to POPLA and Initial Parking withdrew their penalty notice before POPLA made its determination. So definitely appeal would be my suggestion. My appeal centered on 4 points:1) No time/date stamped photos were provided. Just photos of my car entering but no date/time on the photo to support the alleged time of entry2) The JustPark App does not allow parking periods to be started "in the past". Only once the app is opened, which in my case was 15 minutes after I entered the car park, parked the car and walked to the machines to read the parking conditions and process3) The operator refused my request on appeal to provide evidence of the grace period4) The operator refused my request on appeal to provide evidence of its contract of instruction by the landowner
