Review Time
I wish I read the reviews before backing on Kickstarter. I pledged to a campaign where I previously bought a product from the same company's website. The product was outstanding and their support WAS second to none. When they created a Kickstarter campaign I didn't hesitate to support them, I thought it was a no brainer. Little did I know the company would lie, delay, lie again and then go radio silent after they said the product was complete, tested and ready to shipping. Then I learned that Kickstarter only collects money, they do not support backers in the least. As long as they get paid, they do not care what the "creator" does. Kickstarter's response to any support request, wait longer. They are zero help. Do not use this site unless you like to gamble.
Project Drinkie NEO. An USA-based scammer scammed thousands of honest supporters, but the origins are not confirmed. After 2 years of continuous updates of issues with the project, false promises and keeping people's hopes up, it failed. Now the same tactic is used for the so-called return of money to funders, false promises, etc. Kickstarter is nowhere to be seen to take responsibility or even initiate legal action against the project owner! Never going to use them to support anyone, as most projects seem to be scams to defraud people! I would warn anyone against using this unregulated online platform. They will be reported to the US federal agencies for investigation.
Will never use again. After several good projects, even several taking more time. I got scammed out of several hundreds of dollars by a backer who pretty much went "We messed up, too bad for you" and it seems like hundreds of people are just out of the money.Kickstarter basically has told me to kick rocks and that there is nothing I can do to get my money back or even a way to punish scammers.Done with Kickstarter.
I've backed quite a few projects. of those, most of the ones that delivered in time only a couple were actually worth it. this is fine, it's all meant to be risky-ish projects looking for funding. But typically you exchange risk for price: significant discounts in exchange for a product that may just not be that great or even be delivered. This has been increasingly getting more and more pointless. Most ks this days either never deliver, deliver >6mo or even >1y from the original timeline, or even start selling before ks rewards even ship. The price discounts are also effectively LESS that what you would get if you just...wait and then check out whatever made it out on some sale. more and more often, surveys are on third party sites, or even 2 or three sites outside ks, too. Its getting close to impossible to keep track of them all without spending a ridiculous amount of time on it, forces you to give your data to even more places, and often they also ask for even more money on those sites, outside ks, which makes claims even harder. A lot of the wrongdoings are clearly against ks policies, and yet, zero accountability is taken. I've lost literal thousands of pounds on projects that were in clear breach of terms from the get go, despite numerous complaints. and I'm still waiting on campaings started more than 2 years ago, with no end in sight. I dont think any of this is gonna get better, and i would advise you to just not use ks anymore, since their own finances are tied to projects being "successful" in financing, but not delivering to any degree or even having proper communication, and they explicitly state they have no control over anything... at which point, what are we even backing things here for.
I would have closed my Kickstarter account down by now if it wasn't for the fact that I need to keep it open to communicate with the projects I have backed that haven't been delivered months after they were meant to have been. I will NEVER back another project from that platform.
Was scammed by the "Cyber Mission for Sega Mega Drive/ Genesis" Kickstarter and Kickstarter refuses to respond to the hundreds of people asking for action to be taken against the scammer or to refund our money. The scammer posing as "Pscd Games" hasn't logged into Kickstarter for almost a year and the real Pscd Games say they were locked out of the Kickstarter by the scammer who took our money.
