Increasing trend of Frauds on Kickstarter

Lately I've noticed a trend on Kickstarter of fraud projects. Kado, extremium, Commando Bag just to name a few that I backed personally. Kickstarter response is so pathetic on the quieres that clearly shows they don't care what happens to customer money once they have their 5% cut in their pocket. They simply copy paste a reply to every query "We are just a platform for the new projects, we are not responsible if they deliver" Does kickstarter do any kind of background check on these frauds? Is there any protection exists for customers backing their hard earned money on these frauds?

Kickstarter, the supporter of the scammers

Kickstarter as a platform is a great initiative as long as the platform does more than collecting money. I have also been scammed in the past by the MIITO team. A group of German young entrepreneurs who lied the complete campaign mentioning that they only required money for the production cycle. It appeared that they never had a working product. They raised a total of 800 thousand euros!!! As expected they run away with the amount and all the 6 thousand backers stayed empty handed. We have done anything but it did not help. What really struck me is the way Kickstarter allows these scams. At the moment that a project is successfully backed, Kickstarter takes their portion of the money and transfers the whole amount to the entrepreneur. I mean at least send the fund in portions and request for updates every month.. They never check what these “entrepreneurs” will do with the money and Kickstarter never ever takes the responsibility. They never check if the story of the entrepreneur is correct (in our case MIITO definitely lied as they never had a product in the first place). Kickstarter also provides zero after service. The report button gives you some hope that Kickstarter is there for you. But they never come back to you. I mean why should they, right? They already got their portion of the scam money. As long as Kickstarter does not stand up against the scammers, lots of people will be scammed. Unfortunately this is the new way for crooks to get their hand on hard earned money of the brave citizens and Kickstarter is very happy to help them..

Initially thought this was a great idea…

Initially thought this was a great idea to help people get projects off the ground, but ultimately you will probably end up getting scammed. My advise would be to buy from reputable retailers rather than risk your hard earned cash. Kickstarter as a company will do nothing to help if you if you are ever scammed.

Throw money in the ocean instead

Throw money in the ocean instead. Kickstarter is a company that has built a website, takes a cut of sales, and nothing else. They will not help you get money back from fraudulent creators. Any legitimate company would have someone step in to help mistreated customers, but they won't. They already have their cut and Customer Service made it clear to me that taking my money is all they'll do. Never again.

Fancy Racket

Remember - Kickstarter ALWAYS get paid. And they offer no recourse when a creator runs off with funding. Why? Because they've already gotten paid. Since it's usually a year or so before you've realized you've been scammed, most banks/credit card companies won't do anything, either.Kickstarter offers ZERO consumer protection, and will quickly silence any attempt at satisfaction.

TERRIBLY disappointed in Kickstarter and Reviv

So a friend of mine turned me on to Kickstarter. She had never ordered anything or she would have never recommended it. But I did not know that at the time. I ordered four items between August and October, hoping to have them by Christmas or at least by January. To this day, a FULL YEAR later, I have not received my Reviv weighted blanket. Probably won’t at this point. The other theee items arrived recently. Two of the items are great (a skillet and a pair of pants). The Mock 1 hammock is okay, not the greatest but I understand it is a work in progress. However none of the items arrived when initially promised and finally after multiple delays, I got the 3 but like I said, I still haven’t gotten the blanket and I will NEVER order or recommend anyone to use Kickstarter.

Kickstarter is not recommendable

Kickstarter is not recommendable, if you want to be sure to receive the funded Product. If you agree to lose your funded money, than it is the perfect place for you to spend and lose some spare money. But if you want to have a Serious Product, you should wait until the Product is available through normal Retail Shops.

Back a project and see if you are lucky or ....

If you backed project, kickstarter is leaving you alone and taking his money and leaving basically. They also make money from each project you backed but they don't care. They are selecting easy way and saying it is between you and company you backed good way. But never again after my experience. They could make much more amazing system than this like holding half of the money till company will deliver etc. but it is none perspective company so nothing to say more.

They don't vet creators and don't…

They don't vet creators and don't bother to set up a format that keeps them from failing to meet their promises even after a project has been fully funded

One star is too much for this platform

One star is too much for this platform. In case you are backer, hope for yourself that the project you backed runs well. If not you are the fu... one, because Kickstarter doesn't help in any way. The only are responsible for collecting money and not for helping a backer. So the inventor of a project can do whatever he wants to do, and Kick A.. Starter doesn't care in any way.
