You find out how trustworthy a business …

You find out how trustworthy a business is when things go bad. I didn't receive my pledge reward so I emailed Kickstarter (no phone number to call), they said I needed to contact the project. After never receiving acknowledgment or a reply from the project I backed Kickstarter said they don't get in between backers and the projects. Basically saying they don't get involved in issues once you send a project money. I backed 13 project, 12 successfully received what I was promised but like I said, you will find out the integrity and trustworthiness of a business when things go bad.

Scam scam and scam...

How many real project for all those scams ?!I took part in a campaign 2 years ago for a magnetic connector and guess what ?! The "to be delivered in November 2015 magnetic charging connector" is still missing ! The campaign which rose up to more than $3 millions was a complete scam.Kickstarter policy about that is for my point of view doing strictly nothing ! The thing is as for now I have neither my product, nor any of my money back ! It was a financing campaign so I could have taken some loss but I have absolutely nothing in the end, and no means at all to fight for my "investor rights".With this site if anything goes right you may got your product late, but you may get it, and if it goes wrong (and in countless times it will) you just have NOTHING you can do beside ask nicely a scammer for a refund.So... beware ! Kickstarter won't help you in anyway if anything goes wrong and you've got to do a part of their job in selecting only the projects which may go to the end and in delivering something...

I WAS a fan until...

I was a fan of the idea, I have funded more than 50 projects, and I understand the nature of the site, But this is where the chain breaks, they just don't have enough control of who makes the campaigns they don't curate enough, you would expect them to now visit the founders, to review and check and to upgrade the experience, to add value, instead it seems they deduct value, crowd'funding' it's not it's test buying of products that may never appear. They should have a rating and a much better validation of the founders and makers I have seen so many scams moving from kickstarter to indiegogo and despite failing even to communicate to the 'backers!' I think their wording is scary and there should become some regulations for this kind of funding.Out of 50 projects backed I can't even think of one device / project I backed that works, Bt than again 80% of them never got delivered. Maybe I'm backing the wrong type of projects? Or the model is flawed however kickstarter should look into it! And find a way of adding value to society, both backers and creators needs these platforms

Godawful support for their creators

I've had two successful projects on Kickstarter, and last week I submitted my third, which is where the problem starts. It got declined because it doesn't meet the requirements - it was too similar to a previous project but the declining email said "You’re welcome to develop or iterate on past projects, even if you’re only making small changes."Replied saying it was the same concept but different products, and why did it get declined?Got an email back basically telling me to get lost and that they don't want the project. No explanation as to why it's declined. If such a "go away" standard reply is how they treat their repeat moneymakers then it's no surprise that they've got such a low rating.Have moved to one of their competitors and are very happy with their service.

Gets the job done, but not always reliable

I've supported about a dozen projects on Kickstarter, and fortunately I've had more good experiences than bad, but sometimes the bad issues are VERY bad. –– Campaigns which were fully funded failing to deliver on their promises, or send patrons their rewards for backing the project. Project managers taking months or even over a year working out production and shipping issues, and most importantly, limited accountability being exercised by Kickstarter. (However, to be fair, the site does indeed warn you before committing to support a project, that you do so at your own risk.)All in all, I still frequent the site for cool stuff to support, and I wouldn't deter anyone from doing so, but just as the site says, you are supporting these projects out of your own pocket, at your own risk. And there is no guarantee you'll see any of the end results of the campaigns you support, so make sure you do your own research about the product/group you're giving money to.

Lots of Issues, but overall a great service

I know a lot of backers are upset about certain campaigns that did not deliver what they promised, but overall the site is amazing in getting these projects out in front of the public. I think backers need to understand this is not an e-commerce website and they are taking a risk on pledging into any campaign.

Backer does not get support

I did back a project and it became a scam. I stopped backing other projects to see how things go around Kickstarter. Luckily, I did. Half of the projects I was watching turned to scam. I tried to contact their support. They only copy and paste their NO REFUND policy and also they leave this issue to be my own responsibility to deal with the project owner. I did tell them that the project owner never replies my question or returns me money, they said it's not their policy to ask the project owner for me.Whatever their policy is, I lost my money (more than 500EUR) for that scam project and nothing Kickstarter will support to get money back at all as long as Kickstarter can get commission from the project owner. No more!

Sometime ok often REALLY bad

I backed several projects. After a while, I woul NOT recommend to back ANY technical projects. They are most likely to either fail or to be really delayed. Card games etcs. are ok to back.. but tech,.. leave your hands from those! And are always aware.. some ppl just try to scam you... and kickstarter ist not a big help and mostly does nothing!

Very unimpressed

I backed a project, a home gym for over £200, in June and it was supposed to be delivered by September. It's now December and I've still not received my item, I've moved house so I need to update my delivery address but after sending multiple emails and commenting on the projects forum I've received no response so I'm not sure whether it's been updated or not. I emailed Kickstarter to ask to help me get clarification but they said that I should contact the creator myself and refused to help me.A really poor experience with no transparency from the Kickstarter team or their creators.
