I felt scammed buying from them. They won't let me change my address. The transfer speed is only few kilobytes per seconds. 1980's dial up internet is faster than their speed. Android and IOS apps are mediocre.I regret buying their 1TB unlimited offer from Stack Social.I find the customer service agents to be very unprofessional rude and vindictive people. This company is being manned by only 7 people, and I won't trust my data to these people who are very hostile to their customers who have left an honest review about the slowness of their network. If you are current customer, never complain or they will throttle your data on the spot. That is how vindictive these people are.Avoid this company at all cost. RUN!
I want to like this service, the company profile gives me a good feeling. But unfortunately their software is confusing and has poor quality. The desktop app has confusing settings regarding types of sync. The desktop app is not syncing files from my computer to the cloud. Creating files via the web app is very slow and times out. I changed my email address, and it was accepted, but then it's still stuck on the old one. Even the uninstaller for the desktop app is buggy, refusing to uninstall even though the program is closed. These issues makes me not want to proceed any further. I need something that "just works".
I found Koofr when researching cloud integration with Obsidian, my note-taking app. I just wanted something that syncs tiny .md files, and it does a good job at it. Once I tried their 10GB free plan, I quickly saw its potential for other tasks, and so it was a no-brainer to upgrade to a paid premium plan. Koofr integrates directly to my daily driver, Linux, Now I have syncing from my file browser just like Dropbox and Google Drive.Koofr's interface is easy-to-use, It has some hidden gems that more people should know about: you can use it to manage other cloud accounts, like Dropbox, Google Drive and even Facebook, plus others. This means when you connect these cloud services to Koofr, you can do a global search across all your cloud services. That's a big deal for me, since I can never remember which cloud I have certain files stored on. Now I am trying to learn about their other features, so I posted on their Subreddit and got fast replies with specific instructions and links. I posted 5 support questions, and each was answered with links and members replies.I really love a feature they call "accent-folding". Imagine you are a running multilingual operation, as I do, and you have a file with é or ü in it. Koofr locates file names with every variation of that e or u. If you are connected to your other clouds, Koofr, searches them all, without or without the accents. And finds them all. How cool is that? They use file versioning, so you can always roll back if you delete something by mistake. I keep reading they don't have that feature, but trust me, they do, because I have already needed to use it--and it works.I did not really talk about security and privacy. That's because this seems to be a grey area with all the non-big name cloud servers. Most of them use vague marketing terms to describe their security. If you need ZKE on server and client, then do your research, and be prepared to pay big money to get that level of security. I am happy with rclone and TLS/SSL encryption for data in transit, and that is the industry standard anyway. Koofr started around 2012/13, so I think it is a testimony to them, as this has become a hotly contested, crowded market in recent times, they are still growing. The company hails from Slovenia, but their servers are hosted in Germany. The fact they are European-based, means they adhere to GDPR, and that is fine with me since I live in Europe. Their good service and interconnectivity makes them a worthwhile investment. I have not yet done any speed tests, but by all reports they are not slow, and I have not heard any complaints on the forums. Give their free plan a try, and I think you will soon want the rest of their premium features. **UPDATE**Now that I have taken the time to evaluate the rest of the interface, features, options, file transfer performance and support on Reddit, and decided to add a star to bring it to a well deserved 5 stars.
I've been using Koofr for about six months now across their mobile app, desktop client, and web interface, and overall, it's been a solid experience. What Koofr does well:Reliable performance. While speeds aren't the absolute best, they’re still consistent and dependable for everyday use.Cross-platform support. The sync between mobile, desktop, and web is seamless, making it easy to access files from anywhere.Privacy-focused approach. Koofr’s emphasis on security and privacy is a big plus compared to some mainstream cloud storage providers.Areas for improvement:The UI feels a bit dated. A more modern and refined design would improve the overall user experience.Faster upload and download speeds would make Koofr even better.Overall, Koofr is a great cloud storage option for those looking for a simple, reliable, and privacy-conscious solution.
Very happy with this service so far. I was looking for a place to store my music files, that had an inbuilt music player and Koofr works fine for that. Other ones I tried had glitchy playback problems, but Koofr has been flawless. I also like that you can buy just as much storage as you need, and upgrade as necessary. The interface is well-designed - clear and simple and easy to use. Nice product!
