I bought a 1TB Plan from Stack Social and it's working great. My Only issue is that the UI of the Android App is not that great. Also, the Preview-only links feature is also not available. Application Lock is also not available. Rest everything working great! I love it
As an individual user, Koofr is by far the best cloud storage I've found, I've used it since 2019 and I wouldn't use anything else. This year I paid €19.67 for 100 GB of cloud storage, which is ample for every single bit of my data (yes I back it up on EHD too, belt and braces). It has Windows-style desktop clients, syncing is moderately fast, and support when I've made enquiries has been amazing with responses within a couple of hours. There's an Android app too, though any file you view gets downloaded, so I have the web page pinned to my phone screen where I can browse files at will, with the app reserved for offline use.UPDATE: You can now view files with the Android app without them having to be downloaded, so I've benn able to remove the web page pinned to my home screen.
Koofr has been a game-changer for me! I love how easy it is to connect to my other cloud accounts like Google and OneDrive, and the 1TB lifetime plan with access to Koofr Duplicate Finder has been a lifesaver. It's safe, private, and simple to use - I highly recommend it!
Pros:1. Great download and upload speed compared to Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive. It is a decent cloud storage that can easily replace any physical hard drive. 2. Definitely a steal if you can get the permanent 1TB storage at the promo price at StackSocial.3. Able to link to various cloud storages for easy access and control.4. Can easily create a network drive on your computer, which is convenient.5. Great customer service.Cons:1. It would be better if they allow the 'Store in cloud storage' function like in OneDrive, where you can have the physical files in your computer's Koofr folder but only the "full-sized" file in the web. If you open it, it will download the file to open it. This way, I will not have to waste the storage space of my computer.2. They don't have the "re-sync" button when an error appears during syncing. Even though the Customer Service told me that they will automatically re-sync, I'm not convinced as the error remained there, so I have to manually press Pause and Sync again to get rid of the error.3. No "Check for updates" button available, so I'm not sure if my Window's Koofr application is always up-to-date or not.4. Need improvement on the encryption, especially during the process of uploading.
Support is biased and personally involved with Koofr itself. They don't understand the customer comes first approach. They act as if the company is a customer, so customer service is difficult. Koofr did help me in the end so it's not all doom and gloom. I wouldn't not recommend the company, just have patience if something goes wrong. I wish Koofr the best and I'm sure they will succeed. I'm not sure about their product. But their customer service could use some improvement
I REGRET ever using this company.I bought a life time plan from stack social. I thought it was a good deal but ended up being a major headache.I finally decided to make the switch and Koofr advised me to connect my DropBox drive to theirs and transfer my data that way.Koofr LOST most of my data and all they could say was that it was impossible and to go to look in the trash!? Laughable. They did not believe me at all. How aweful they were.I lost sleep because of this. The files that were gone were life consequential.Stupid me for not making a back-up.I got a refund from Stack Social after arguing until I was blue in the face.Koofr then locked me out of my account WITHOUT NOTICE!I would consider it very high risk to use them.Everything is Koofr cool until it's not.Thank God DropBox was able to retrieve my data from the point in time just before the transfer to Koofr was initiated. DropBox believed me and understood for real the connection between a person's life and their data. This made a huge difference. They are true professionals with a real service not a hobby one like Koofr.
**UPDATED REVIEW, FEBRUARY 2023**I've been with Koofr now for over a year. My biggest beef with them originally was the lack of client-side encryption. But they've since addressed this by adding "Koofr Vault," an open-source encryption which gives the user control of the encryption keys. Now, you can upload sensitive files, like medical records or legal files, and once you've decrypted them with your keys, you can see the titles to choose which files to interact with. This is MUCH better than having to depend on encrypt-first-then-upload techniques which loose the titles of your files in the cloud, making it very difficult to find what you're looking for if you need to download in the future.Koofr still isn't as smoothly working as another competitor, IceDrive, and it offers a maximum of only 1TB storage on many of its lifetime offers, but at least it seems to be reliable and now offers client-controlled encryption of files. This privacy feature alone is worth adding another star to my original review. Something else Koofr could do is to publish an independent third party security audit of its product.**ORIGINAL REVIEW, MARCH 2022**Koofr functions as expected. It's not especially fast at uploading files, but this is on par with other cloud storage options. I'm happy that I can play music directly from Koofr--no need to download to my machine. Other cloud services also include a video viewer so you can watch movies from the cloud without having to download them, but this function seems lacking on Koofr. I've never tried to view a text document on Koofr so can't comment on that. One of my major gripes with Koofr, a service I've been using for about 6-months now, is the way they handle syncing. It's unnecessarily complicated--at least for my family. With other services, you download their app which is a folder you can manage easily by dragging and dropping files into the app's sync folder. No need to mess with settings. Very intuitive. Very easy. No learning curve. I've set up a sync folder on Koofr but even now I can't remember how I did it. I'd have to re-read their instructions to do it again. The biggest issue I have with Koofr is the way they've chosen to handle security and privacy. I'd just finished a subscription with another cloud storage service (Sync.com) and thought I'd try a different company b/c Sync is very slow to up-/download files. I failed to research Koofr enough and only recently learned files are NOT protected by client-side encryption. You know the saying--not your encryption keys not your property. This, of course, means files stored on Koofr's servers are NOT zero-knowledge. The company or anyone else who could access its servers can view your files. As more governments around the world fight citizens' privacy as a human right and instead opt for varying forms of mass-surveillance, even increasingly pressuring companies to add undisclosed encryption backdoors, our family has chosen not to do business with any "encryption" company that doesn't offer client-side encryption by default. This shouldn't be something you have to pay for EXTRA (pCloud!). It should be included in the subscription cost. Otherwise, you no longer own your data.To be fair, you can encrypt your files BEFORE uploading to Koofr, but this can (should!) obscure your files' names. As a result, it can be very difficult to find a particular file to download when you need it. This turns Koofr into merely a backup service. You have to trust that if you ever lose your main working copy of files, you can download ALL OF THEM encrypted from Koofr then decrypt on your machine. But there are far, far less costly ways to do that with other cloud services. All in all, I'm very disappointed with myself for choosing a NON-zero-knowledge cloud provider for our family. As soon as possible, I'll be transferring my files off Koofr's servers back onto a true zero-knowledge cloud provider's servers. Plus, with the exciting developments in redundant decentralized cloud architecture, soon there should be no reason to have to entrust non-zero-knowledge cloud companies with our most intimate family and personal data.
