I've had my Marcus account for a 1 and a half. Added a CD this year for additional interest opportunity. They give a referral fee of .25 for 3 months to encourage referrals. Easy to use to send and receive funds. It takes a few days for monies to become available. I recommend.
Uses "suspect actions" and suddenly closes accounts without any warning. Referred Marcus to Financial Conduct Authority and the Financial Ombudsman accusing Marcus of underhand, deceitful and manipulative processes.Marcus acts like a bogus bank. BEWARE - there are more professional banking operators in the UK than this US-subsidiary.
Joke of outfit which is basically goldman sachs. Don't make interest payments ontime, communication is poor and behaviours are pretty poor for a bank which probably shouldn't be surprised but their culture and behaviours seem worse than other banks. Initially good % rates to attract customers but loads of other banks now with significantly better interest rates. I'm moving my money and would advise you avoid !!
I find this savings account to be simple, secure and with good rates of interest. The transfer process is immediate, simple and locked to my day to day account for security. Never had a single issue with any part of it. Have recommended to 3 additional users since opening and all use with the same ease as i do. What more could you want.
This app drives me up the wall, to the point that I can't be bothered with the account. It repeatedly 'forgets' my password, won't use biometrics to overcome this, can't seem to use a password manager with it. So I'm in an endless hassle cycle of resetting passwords to get in. So yes, very secure. So secure it's a pain to use. So I won't.
I've had a Marcus (Goldman Sachs) account for a couple of years and it has been largely trouble-free. They've paid good interest (even when the banks weren't paying any interest at all), and since I handled everything myself online and rarely needed customer service, things chugged along quite smoothly. But this morning I tried to log into my account (just I as I have done for the past two years or so) and I couldn't. I called Marcus and was told that their system was now only compatible with 2 internet browsers: Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Granted, these are among the most popular browsers currently in use, but they are not the only browsers in common use, and they are not even the top two across the board. Just saying...The customer service rep was remarkably curt and unhelpful, and told me I would not be able to use any other browser to access my account; she basically told me it was a 'take it or leave it' proposition. Since I am not willing to maintain a separate browser just for this one account (I already use 3 of the most popular browsers, and have no desire add a 4th), I was forced to close my account. She offered no other options. My concerns are as follows:1 Marcus is an online service, so compatibility with multiple internet browsers should be a minimal expectation2 Any changes in the means by which I can access my account should have been communicated to me in advance3 I'm not even confident that the information I received was correct, as the woman did not seem particularly knowledgeable about internet browsers 4 My efforts to escalate the call to someone with more specific knowledge were unsuccessful and were met with hostility5 The fact that a front line (and probably low level) representative could drive a conversation into the sort of brinkmanship that would leave a customer with no alternative but to close their account does not speak well for this company or their commitment to customer serviceIn conclusion, I found Marcus perfectly adequate as long as I had no need of customer service, but when the smallest problem surfaced, Marcus' house of cards came tumbling down. I can't recommend this company.
Marcus proved to be highly efficient when closing my Easy Access online Saver. UNFORTUNATELY due to Bank of England rates dropping, because of the introduction of the Labour Party, subsequently, our interest rates are falling. After instantaneous response from the agent by phone, the funds were transferred to the nominated bank account within minutes.
Will not transfer ISAMarcus used to be a great bank with market leading interest rates. How things have changed!I recently tried to transfer my ISA to another provider as Marcus were changing their interest rates too frequently. I gave them two weeks to make the transfer, on the last day at 6pm they sent me an email demanding I contacted them by the end of the day. 75 minutes later they emailed again rejecting my ISA transfer before I had the chance to contact them. This is not the last they will hear of this. Thieves line Marcus will be prosecuted.
