We brought my wife’s car in for a coolant issue. They sent us a digital diagnostic report that was clear enough, so we approved the recommended work. A few hours later, they called and told us the car would be ready in 20 minutes, so we left home to pick it up. When we arrived, the shop was already closed, but the car was still in the bay with the hood up, and one of the two employees was smoking a cigarette while working on it. A mechanic smoking while working on a vehicle—especially with the hood up—isn’t just unprofessional; it’s genuinely dangerous. You’ve got open coolant lines, fuel vapors, possibly aerosolized brake or carb cleaner, oil residue, and battery gases. One spark or flicked ash could ignite fumes or damage wiring insulation. It’s a violation of OSHA and fire safety standards, and every legitimate shop knows that.It also tells you something about the shop’s culture. When someone’s comfortable lighting up in the bay, it usually means either management isn’t present or doesn’t care. That’s not a “one bad tech” issue—it’s a shop-level breakdown of discipline and oversight. When we asked how much longer it would take, the employee gave vague and conflicting answers, never apologized, and didn’t seem to know what was going on. At one point, he even suggested leaving our keys in the gas cap or under the tire overnight — which is absurd and unsafe in such a high crime area.Earlier in the day, the technician had also pressured us over the phone to make service decisions that cost thousands of dollars within “five minutes or it’ll be too late,” which felt manipulative and unprofessional. When we asked for a small discount to acknowledge the mix-ups and wasted time, they refused and said they’d already applied a $25 coupon. When we returned Monday to pick up the car, no one greeted us for several minutes, even though they saw us arrive. The overall experience was careless, poorly managed, and showed zero respect for customers’ time or safety. I’ll never return to this Meineke, and based on conversations with others afterward, this kind of behavior seems to be a pattern at this franchise. The cherry on top is all the addons and excessive upsells they pressure the customer into.
After many years of giving this company our business, we just found out that they recommended 2k worth of work that did not need to be done. We took our vehicle in because we suspected an issue. They confirmed confirmed what we suspected but also said we had another problem that needed to be addressed. $4500 estimate total. Sticker shock caused us to get a second opinion from an independent mechanic. He too confirmed the initial issue but told us there was absolutely nothing wrong with the other parts Meineke said needed to be repaired. Get a second opinion before you spend money here. Better yet, find a trustworthy mechanic so you don’t get swindled. We will NEVER give them our business again.
I am submitting a formal complaint regarding Meineke Car Care Centers at 100 Peachtree Road, Nicholasville, KY, for service on October 25, 2025.I was quoted 45 minutes for a mount and balance of four tires, yet the service took over three hours with no communication or explanation. One tire was installed incorrectly, requiring remounting and rebalancing. I was quoted $99 for TPMS, but the final charge for TPMS alone was $229.When I attempted to address these issues with the manager, they were dismissive and unprofessional. This level of service is unacceptable and does not reflect the advertised values of honesty, transparency, and customer care.I am requesting that this matter be reviewed by regional or corporate management and that I be contacted directly regarding corrective action. This experience caused significant disruption, and I hope Meineke takes the necessary steps to prevent this at other locations.
They overcharged and failed to deliver on their promises. They’re lazy, take advantage of customers, and honestly, you shouldn’t take your car there. They should shut down if they’re not willing to do the work people pay for. I’m extremely disappointed — they’re just awful.
Took my 2013 toyota tacoma in for oil change at Meineke in anderson indiana on scatterfield. Got a text that they would change 4 spark plugs for 500 dollars i declined ald coolant flush for 200 dollars i declined picked truck up oil change was almost 80 dollars after discount. Got home found a tire lug nut on my console. I called they said oh forgot to tell you took tire off to check brakes and they said the stud was stripped. Wanted to schedule to replace stud. I said no thanks I'll take it somewhere else. I'm sure the stud was not stripped before I took it in. I'll never go back to a mineke again. You have been warned beware of meineke.
7/31/2025 Went to 4846 spruce street Meineken for a replacement of a valve cover gasket, engine valve cover gasket. The wait was 9 hours, they kept ordering/receiving the wrong parts, charge me for a wheel alignment that was never done and was not requested. The technician broke the valve cover gasket replacement part so that was part of the reordering. The staff are young men who spend more time at the front desk with the manager playing around very unprofessional. The waiting area is filthy the bathroom is a disgrace. To top it off, on 8/12/25 my breaks started making a grounding sound to the point I couldn't drive the car. I had it towed to jiffy lube who found it was an issue with the ABS system. The sensor at the RF wheel was found to be damaged- threads on bolt securing the abs sensor to steering knuckle. I had to pay to get the threads repaired and have the abs sensor properly installed.
