My truck was towed to Meineke Car Care Service, 8301 San Pedro, Alb., NM. Martin Segura promptly greeted me to diagnose the problem. It was an easy fix for him. He solved the problem and I was on my way in no time. I really appreciated this. Thank you Martin Segura.
If I could I would take away stars. This is one of the most expensive shops for repairs, worse than the dealership even. BEWARE! Their $184 diagnostic fee only covers 1 hr of troubleshooting. And they WILL NOT apply that charge to the cost of repairs. Stay away from this shady shop. I told them what I needed repaired, a simple $12 ignition coil connector and they insisted on having to diagnose anyway, so I let them. To their credit they did find the coil also needed replacement, but marked up that's a $40 part and it was easy to get to. They sent estimate, which was high, but I was willing to bite the bullet. The final bill was over 165% the estimate! Over $600!!!
Juan who I believe is the manager is AMAZING! This location in Oak Park has only been here 10 weeks and has made me rethink my A+ and expensive mechanic who I've been with for the past 2yrs and is to far away. I will definitely be going back to Meineke Oak Park SOON. Thanks Juan for being a standup business man!!
I DO Not Recommend the services at the Meineke Store 0392 at 10617 New Hallsferry Road 63136. They charge inflated fees and I believe they have unfair practices. My issue was with a code P420, which signals a low catalyst system efficiency. I informed them of a check engine light and fumes in the cabin. I was quoted a ridiculous fee of $1300 plus. (for starters) to have four 02 sensors replaced. However, I inofrmed the customer rep that I had done prior research and found that my car only has two 02 sensors, one upsream, one downstream. After disputing my information, he rechecked the information and found that I was correct. He then quoted a fee of over $800.00. Of course I declined to have the speculative work completed and asked to have my keys returned. I was charged a diagnostic fee of S174.00, which I paid. However upon reviewing my receipt for the charge, it stated that there was no dash warning light issues, which is incorrect because the check engine light was still on even when I received my car back, which makes it doubtful if they even check out the vehicle, but instead had chosen what they would charge me for strictly from the error code. I chose to usethis Meinke because of its proximity to my residence. However, I will never use them again. They can and should deliver better srvice to our community. Took my vehicle in for simple muffler and tailpipe, sat 2 hours, then they came out with a list of issues, I just had new brakes installed couple months ago, they said brake pads weren't making contact with rotors, but the brakes work fine. They said none of my lights worked, I went in there showed them all lights were working, needed cv axles oil seals. grand total estimate $2,369. Said vehicle was not safe. I've been a mechanic for 40 plus years, never seen this level of incompetence and lying anywhere throughout my career, I'm retired Veteran now. After I proved them wrong on the other issues, I asked about the exhaust they quoted for muffler flange and 4 feet of exhaust pipe $425.93. Took 2 days for parts to get in. Took vehicle back dropped off, they said wouldn't be long they would call or text. After almost 3 hours I called for update, they said they needed to show me something, I go in shop the new muffler and flange lying in the floor, and they asked me, where was my tail pipe that comes from the muffler out the rear. I said we went over this 2 times already needed muffler and tailpipe, then says the tailpipe was not part of the quote, and they asked me if I wanted to order my own preshaped tailpipe, and if I brought it in they could install it. At one point in the conversation I was even asked by the tech how I would suggest they run the pipe from the muffler, and I was completely dumbfounded, I assumed they were trained and had some experience in how to do their jobs, I asked aren't you and exhaust shop? he said yes but our pipe bender doesn't work so well, they added another $257.93 which bought new total to $683.86. And they kept it another day, went to pick it up this morning, Tailpipe is Touching heat shield of fuel tank and laying on the suspension bolt, which i took pictures of and showed them, and they said if it rubbed hole in exhaust, they would weld it. I told him not if, but when it rubs a hole in it. I asked should it be redone right so it doesn't become an issue, I told If it rubs a hole, and you weld it once you let it down off the lift the weld will still rub against the suspension. But Service Advisor Gerardo the attitude was let's wait and see what happens Not to mention the vibration from the exhaust pushed up against the differential. Then he said what do you expect our pipe bender only works half the time, and then not like it should. So, I'm beyond infuriated, contacting Meineke corporate, BBB, and possibly small claims court before it's over. Completely unacceptable for company that says they guarantee top notch work. For whatever reasons they evidently don't care, and staff very obviously didn't seem trained well, if at all. I really hope that this is not the same attitude and experience that Meineke wants to project overall for their business, and their reputation. I can't say all their locations are this careless with their customers, But I certainly will never go to or recommend Del Range location to anyone. So, consumer beware.
Meineke (corporate) does not "make" or guarantee any warranties. Had vehicle suspension repaired at significant cost while traveling between separate states. Had immediate problems and attempted warranty service but the shop attempting the repairs was not supported by the original repair shop. Appeals to corporate were ignored. Took to small claims (both repair shops, as well as, Meineke Franchisor SPV LLC and Meineke Car Care Centers LLC). The case is ongoing, but court filings by the corporate Meineke affirm that their nationwide warranty is not guaranteed ("made") by them but rather each individual franchisee.
DO NOT use Meineke. They tried 3 different trips to recharge my AC. This was a lot of hassle to take the car there, 12 miles from my house, and have someone follow me, to leave my car overnight. Each time I picked it up, the AC was not blowing cold air, and I walked back in, and told them. Each time was a different excuse: 1) the machine is not working right. 2) We have new technicians. 3) You need a new compressor, we have worked up an estimate for you. This one was the real corker. They did not know how to fix it, and so they think i will pay over $1K for THEM to do it? I took the same car to Ben s Quality Auto in Puyallup. The diagnosed the AC problem - a wire had been half chewed up by a squirrel. They fixed it in half a day and it works fine. Meineke refuses to give me a refund for the work I paid for, but they never did. They charged me $233 for the AC recharge..... paid up front. But they refuse to refund it, even though i had to get the AC fixed at a different shop. I wrote the Store manager. Also the Regional manager, Brandon Cruz. And also the Corporate office in Charlotte, NC. NEVER HEARD ONE WORD OF RESPONSE. These people should not be in the car business.
Another, in my many stops for car repairs at Meineke today. Exhaust issue repair on 2014 Ford Explorer. Showed me the issue. Offered me a choice of options for repair (include a very in expensive "get by for a few years" one). Completed the service promptly. I told them I did not have more than $500 they charge me $1,200 told me they would hold my car until they got payment hostage is what I say I'm homeless I do save my money they brought it down to $700 gave me back my battery but wouldn't take the $500 starter off of there this is poor business practice over pricing for labor over pricing parts when you tell them you don't have the money but you're desperate you signed something you didn't know what you were signing and then him saying the mechanic hulo says he can hold my car I have a blind daughter I am homeless without the car he did not care he doesn't own the mortar or the brick that holds the building up but yeah he comes to this country and becomes a great mechanic and then rips people off this is what I hate about people they charge you excessive amounts of money on some building and business they don't own and yet they want to be money hungry meineke should never hire people like this but they do because they are money hungry never take your car here advise you go to a mechanic if you have to pay them it's better to pay a owner of their own business than to pay some ass wipe that didn't give a damn about you or your struggle and put expensive parts on your car that you cannot afford and still know that you were homeless taking care of a blind daughter and still didn't care but tell you he will hold your car this man has no soul he only lives for money the company will take up for him this is the kind of garbage you don't want taking care of your car
