Terrible experience at NLR Meineke

I had a terrible experience at the North Little Rock Meineke. The manager and his colleague lied, misdiagnosed my car, and tried to overcharge me. They held my vehicle for a diagnosis fee without actually diagnosing it.My car wouldn't start, so I had it towed to Meineke, suspecting a fuel pump issue. After days without a response, I visited the shop and was quoted $2,782 plus tax for a fuel pump replacement, which they claimed would take six weeks. I found the part locally, but they refused to let me bring it in.After a week of no returned calls, I found my car's battery dead from a door note all the way closed, the interior soaked from a storm, and and dashcam showing no evidence of diagnosis. When I decided to move my car to another shop, Meineke demanded a diagnosis fee. The new shop fixed the actual issue—contaminated fuel—for just over $100.Meineke's quote was over $2,000 more than the actual repair cost. I do not recommend this Meineke location.

This happened at the Madison

This happened at the Madison, AL. Location. I had a appointment at 11:30AM, to check my A/C unit on my chevy pickup. I told the employee at the front desk that is what I needed, I told him the compressor was making a noise. He immediately said that it was the clutch making that noise and the compressor was no good, without checking anything out. I told him the A/C light was flashing on the control unit, he said the A/C was not receiving a signal, again not checking anything. He may be right diagnosing it from sitting his ass in that chair at the desk. I was wanting him to check it, that is what this country has come to,a bunch of young punks that think they know everything. I have been by this location many times, and there was hardly no one there, I can see why. I won't be back. If anyone cares my phone number is 205-495-4098.

Thank you!

I visited the shop in Pensacola on West Michigan Ave. to have my skid plate reattached. I would strongly recommend this shop to others. I had a great experience.

I took my car in for an engine light…

I took my car in for an engine light and traction diagnostic last Saturday. It came back with EVAP codes and the cost would be close to $800 for repair. I said no I would need to think about it and left. Tuesday morning I got gas and the next morning both lights were off. Turns out it was just a loose gas cap. I have a long commute to work and my car drove fine and no gas smells. I do not think the tech did anything to find where the leak was because there wasn't any. I don't know what the repair would be. I received my diagnostic via email and it was a bad copy. It looked like whoever scanned it in didn't know what they were doing or really didn't care. The codes were completely cut off and I paid almost $200 for an incomplete report. The reason behind the high amount was because it was an engine light issue.. When I was there two other women were complaining about their services. I got bad vibes at that time and I honestly belive they were taking advantage of me because I am female. I would highly advise if you need work done to get a second opinion. I dodged a bullet this time. I will never step foot in that store again. Since new owner cannot be trusted

Not worth the money

I had two concerns: the transmission and the oil leak. Meineke partially addressed one concern-- the transmission. Meineke performed a diagnostic and presented me with 2 codes. I was told I would have to go to the dealer for the repair. The oil leak was not addressed. The diagnostic was supposed to be provided within one hour because I am a AAA member. It was not provided within that timeframe. The technician said that Meineke was not required to diagnose my car within an hour, just first come first come. Clearly, the technician did not know the AAA policy. According to AAA, I was also supposed to receive a multipoint inspection. I did not receive that either. Ultimately, I had to take my car to the dealer. I provided the dealer the codes I had received from Meineke. There were many more codes for the transmission than the ones Meineke provided. This trip to Meineke was definitely not worth the money nor the time and effort.

Don’t use Meineke

I took my car in there several times I was going on a road trip and I wanted to make sure it was roadworthy because I had a shake in my car and I knew it needed brakes. Also, the check engine light was coming on. I was told I needed to have Motor mounts replaced it was unsafe to drive on so I did and they replaced the brakes. I was told that the car was in good condition and needed a few more things but not necessarily right away. Well, I started on my road trip pretty much immediately when I got the car back and the check engine light came on and driving at high speeds. There really wasn’t a shake, but when I slowed down to about 25 to 30, there was a noticeable shake still. Also, there was a very noticeable squeak when I pressed on the brakes. so on my trip I called the store and Sadie said no problem bring it in when you get back. Since we were on a cruise, I wasn’t driving the automobile daily. So I got back I brought the car in and I asked them about the check engine light and they told me we never told them about the check engine light so they never checked it. And then told him about the squeaking and they said they would take a look at the brakes. They took a look at the brakes and said the brakes were bad and they needed to be replaced gave them faulty brakes. Sadie also stated that she would do a check engine light expections for me for free so I said OK and she wasn’t there when I brought the car back in and the guys were talking trash about a lot of people and making fun of this and that. I made a comment something about Sadie and her not being there and how wonderful I thought she was and the guy behind the desk started saying something derogatory. I don’t really remember what it was but it was not nice. Then I started talking about how I didn’t think all this happening was coincidence and he says everything is a coincidence, I didn’t believe in coincidences and he said again something derogatory. So anyway, they changed my brakes. They forgot to do the check engine light again so they really quickly put it on there. They came back and told me I need a new engine.Meanwhile, I told Sadie about this and Sadie told me that while she’s away, the guys tend to have a little bit of a more relaxed attitude and they don’t do the work that she expects them not exactly like that but that’s the message I got. Well, now I got a car it needs a new engine still shaking the check engine light still coming on now my seat is broken. My radio doesn’t work and a few other little weird ads and ends happened.Turns out the guy that I was talking to got fired because of who knows but I’m sure it has something to do with customer service. I think he sabotaged my car. At least the radio and the seat.I told Sadie what I thought she said, bring the car in and she would do a thorough check engine light for me for free. She would also see if a fuse was missing on my radio, but there was nothing that she could do with the broken seat. Well, she did do a thorough check and said yes you do need a new engine and she told me that none of her people said that before. Is this coincidence? I don’t think so. Can I prove any of it now? Can I report it to the Better Business Bureau? Yes but I just thought that you should know and had I known that all this was wrong with my car in the first place I would have never spent over $3000 getting all this taken care of. And they didn’t even do the brakes when I paid for it. Coincidence I think not so although I can’t prove it, I can definitely make a huge argument for the coincidences of all the broken down car issues.I also took it to my car mechanic that I’ve been using for 20 years and he stated that they never did pull the valve cover, and they didn’t check the back brakes. They also charged 2 1/2 times more than he charged. You asked me why I chose to go to Meineke if I had a good mechanic because I was in a hurry, and he usually takes a couple days to do the work and I needed the car quickly. The engine seized in October.

Will cheat you and nit fix issue without a fight

This is specifically a review for the location at 865 University ave in St Paul Minnesota. We used this shop for a while (2 years with 2 vehicles) but have recently lost all trust with this place and the people we trusted are no longer there due to poor management and greed by the owner. If you want good reliable service with trustworthy mechanics then this is nto the shop to go to any longer the owner will quote you for a repair then come back and tell you it is more and may not even replace the right part. I can say there was confusion on both sides but getting the issue resolved took a lot of back and forth arguing and then once it was done one employee was so afraid her job would be in the line for doing the right thing she was upset and worried how her boss (Chris) would treat her. All around if you want to go to a place that will only do a partial job and treats their employees like crap then this is your shop if not then go someplace more honest and trustworthy.

Total Rip Off

I have a brother who is somewhat mentally challenged and drives a 1999 Toyota that has 192,558 miles. He paid $ 1,000 for the vehicle a little over 1 year ago. He was having an issue with the car "jerking" and drove to Meineke @ 7420 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, Il 60714 On March 13th at which time he paid $ 679.81 to have various engine + transmission mounts replaced. Before he left he left he was asked by someone at the front desk to call his credit card company to find out how much credit line he had left on his card and he foolishly responded "Around $ 8,000" He was then advised that he should leave the vehicle there for further evaluation and he went home. He was then contacted with a long list of items that would make the vehicle "like new" and likely give him many more years of life on the road. Due most in part to his mental state he simply said go ahead with the work.Several days later he went to pick up the car and was presented with a bill for an additional $ 5,876.74. He paid with his credit card and left. Unaware that all of this transpired, I saw him the next day and told him that he now had almost $ 8,000 wrapped up in a car that was still worth around $ 1,000. He responded with "I'm Sorry". I told him that I was also sorry for him since he had now drained most of his bank account. I now have complaints filed with the Illinois Attorney General's Office + Better Business bureau I am also looking into his protections under the disability rights act and possible consumer fraud claims. I tried to work this out with someone at management level, however after several attempts of calling the Manager at Meineke and being told that "there's nothing we can do"
