egregious password security

After 30minutes of searching, I can't find any way to wipe my previously used account passwords, and due to their policy of not being able to use old passwords as a new one, the loop of forgetting my last password and having to reset it, but not having the option on any of my previously used ones has caused me to go through at least several different iterations of passwords over the years. This is stupidly excessive in terms of security measures, and just makes my life hell every time I try to sign into my microsoft account, which at this point I actively avoid the use of due to the amount of times I've had to put through a new password.

I use Microsoft and Windows products

I use Microsoft and Windows products. In the middle of my work, I go to the toilet — and Windows decides to update, restart, and close everything without saving my work. Whoever designed Windows to behave like this deserves to burn in hell.

Windows 11 is the most badly designed operating system. It slows down everything it is awful to have such operating system designed. It is pathetic and extremely bad to design such operating system.

So after a software update on my…

So after a software update on my laptop, I was locked out of my laptop which I needed to do an MFA to verify my Microsoft account.I tried doing this through my email but the verification codes weren’t being sent to my emails, even after checking my junk.I couldn’t do my phone number as it’s an outdated phone number so I needed to update it via my microsoft account. Because of the verification process, I need to wait for 30 days for the verification process to go through, so this means I’m locked out of my account for 30 days.Because of this, I’ve been unable to work as I freelance for a living so I’m losing money with each passing day, I’ve tried contacting Microsoft (which is a nightmare to do), after two attempts, they put the phone down on me twice. After the third attempt, I was told to plug my laptop into my router for 3 hours (which I knew wasn’t going to work). After the 3 hours, I tried calling back but apparently I’d gone over the daily amount of calls I’m allowed (even though they put the phone down on me twice).I then had to go to my wife’s account to then contact them on my behalf for them to say that they can’t get me into my laptop until the 30 days verification had gone through. The only way in would be to wipe my laptop & start all over again, re-install everything again because of their messed up security system preventing me from getting access to my laptop.Even after agreeing this is the only way forwards (which it shouldn’t be at all because of their system). I was promised a callback from them where I need a USB, a spare laptop & was told they would call me back.I’ve been waiting around all day where somebody did call me back & said they need to download the image onto a USB stick. In the time it was downloading, they said they would call me back in half an hour. It’s been nearly two hours & I’m sat here without a laptop, just so they can wipe everything I need & then spend the rest of the day getting everything back. Also, on top of this. I had a trip planned with my family where I booked tickets to go out for the day which I had to put on hold whilst this gets sorted. My kids were excited & I had to tell them no because of all this, the tickets are non-refundable.As I said, I’m not able to work so every day that goes passed, I’m losing money (not that Microsoft will reimburse me for the most money & the lost time for all of this.Absolutely pathetic, all because of this ridiculous security procedure that’s in place to stop me from getting into my own laptop to make a living & all of the time I’ve wasted trying to get this sorted. Nobody had any good answers other than (let’s wipe the laptop) which means I lose all of my work & we’re going to make you waste your day to do it.I’m willing to accept the lost time & all of my work but unless you reimburse me for the lost money because I’m not able to work. I’m going to steer away from Microsoft & move to Apple & encourage people to do the same. What an absolute disgrace!

You need to have a technical support number live person to speak to people

They're not reachable they're Outlook doesn't work properly other issues very bad support extremely bad. Just because they don't have a telephone support email is useless

Microsoft Outlook is the worst

I was simply trying to set up my business email through GoDaddy (another relic of a platform that feels stuck in 2008), and somehow ended up in a labyrinth of Microsoft Outlook nonsense that made everything 10x harder.Outlook forced me to download some mysterious "email validator" just to verify access — why is that even necessary in 2025? The QR code they gave me didn’t scan, the URL didn’t load, and the validation code failed repeatedly. It felt like a trap designed to waste time and test your patience.Meanwhile, GoDaddy’s own dashboard is just as bad — bloated, slow, and impossible to navigate unless you already know the exact path to follow. The integration between the two platforms is laughably bad. Zero intuitive flow, zero clear support, and every help doc just loops you in circles. These are billion-dollar companies delivering penny-level value.Avoid this combo at all costs. If you’re setting up email for your business, there are way better options out there that won’t make you feel like you're stuck in a time warp.

I expected better from the almighty Microsoft.

Their browser is decent, but the issues with creating an account or logging in are frustrating. I don't know what the team has done, but the system is awful. People have been experiencing problems logging in and syncing their accounts to portable devices for years, and the team hasn't addressed these major issues. When I visit the forum to report problems, it asks me to log in again and confirm my password. Google is my least favorite, but at least it doesn't continuously ask you to sign in or confirm your password like Microsoft does. The team needs to resolve this because it's a serious issue, and it's annoying.

43%/30% MS365 Subscription Increase

Why is no one speaking about the fleecing of the globe being perpetuated by this company? Their recent 43% rate increase for individual accounts and 30% increase on family accounts is obscene. Their reasoning for this seems to be the addition of Copilot. But frankly, who asked for that? What if you are not interested in that? The short answer is that Microsoft doesn't care because they couldn't sell it to the general public so now they are forcing it down everyone's throats whether we like it or not. Without care for families who are barely getting by to begin with or putting the additional burden on the individual user - which seems ridiculous.I am trying to figure out when we all push back? Or do we say nothing until the next increase that will happen next year. If you take the medicine once, they will serve it up again.Microsoft, you have been a staple for years but you are not too big to fail.
