I sent my laptop for repair, clearly stating that I suspected water damage at the USB-C port, which was causing corrosion on the motherboard. I provided all details before they touched the device. They confirmed via email that I would receive a repair offer after diagnostics, which I accepted, thinking it would include an attempt to fix the issue since the fee was €180. It never occurred to me that they wouldn’t actually try to repair it, especially after I had outlined the problem. The diagnostics should have taken less than 15 minutes of labor. I was shocked to find out later that they might charge around €720/hour for their "expertise" in diagnosing the problem. The next day, I received their diagnostics confirming what I already told them: corrosion of the port and motherboard. They provided no new information and then quoted me €799 for the repair of a laptop worth €600. In essence, they charged me €179 just to have the opportunity to pay €799 for a laptop that’s worth €600 when functional. When I raised concerns about the value of my €180 diagnostics fee, they attempted to intimidate me with technical jargon like "NVMe SSD" and "impedance", even mentioning they checked the laptop's speakers. With my background in PC repair, I understood their tactics, but the average consumer might find it overwhelming. Here’s the reality: They provided no new insights. They charged €180 regardless. They proposed an unreasonable repair fee. And when I questioned them, they resorted to jargon to intimidate and silence me. After a lengthy email exchange, I ended up paying simply because pursuing legal action would take too much time and effort — which I believe is exactly what they count on. In conclusion: this service experience feels predatory, overpriced, and intentionally misleading. I recommend avoiding them and opting for a local repair shop to save both money and frustration. STEER CLEAR OF THIS SERVICE.
I submitted my laptop for repair, clearly stating I suspected water damage at the USB-C port, which was causing motherboard corrosion. I detailed the issue before they even touched the device. They confirmed via email that I would receive a repair offer after diagnostics, and I accepted, assuming it included an attempt at repair since the fee was €180. I never considered they wouldn't actually try to fix it, given I'd already outlined the problem. A day later, they confirmed what I had already told them: corrosion at the port and motherboard. No new insights provided. They then quoted me €799 for the repair, while the laptop's value is only €600 when functional. So, I was charged €179 just to be told I could pay €799 to fix a device worth €600. I rightfully raised concerns about the diagnostics fee. In response, they used intimidating jargon like "NVMe SSD" and "impedance" to confuse me. As someone with a background in tech, I saw through their tactics; the average customer might not. Ultimately, they provided no new information, charged €180 anyway, and proposed an outrageous repair cost. When I questioned them, they resorted to technical jargon to intimidate and dismiss my concerns. After prolonged correspondence, I paid simply to avoid the hassle of legal action, which I suspect is what they count on. My verdict: this service feels predatory, overpriced, and misleading. I recommend finding a local repair shop instead to save both money and frustration. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
I sent my laptop for a fan replacement due to a malfunction that made it unusable. The repair took almost two weeks and was more costly than expected. Although I agreed to the diagnostic fee, it felt unnecessary as it mostly led to additional repairs that inflated the total cost. The fan issue was resolved, and my laptop functions again, which I appreciate. However, upon receiving it back, nine keyboard keys were non-functional, a problem that didn't exist before. PC Refresh offered a free follow-up check, which I appreciated, but it took another two weeks and they concluded that nothing could be done without another expensive repair. When I finally got my laptop back, even more keys—sixteen in total—had stopped working. After nearly a month, I ended up with a functioning fan but a worse keyboard than when I sent it in. The staff were polite, and they did fix the original fan issue, but the overall experience left me dissatisfied due to the costs, delays, and new problems that arose.
I purchased a refurbished laptop and encountered a minor issue. The owner contacted me and resolved it through a remote session. Excellent service overall. This is my second refurbished device, and my experiences have been positive.
