A frustrating and legally questionable ESA process

PetScreening was one of the most frustrating parts of moving. My complex had us use it for ESA verification, and it was obvious right away that the system is built to discourage.I submitted a clean, legitimate ESA letter from my licensed therapist recommending two animals, and the plenty more information than is legally required for each animal, SEPARATELY. Instead of accepting it (as the FHA allows), they demanded “supplemental documentation” that they aren’t legally entitled to ask for, and the site gives you no way to respond, only to resubmit with whatever extra info they decide they want.The whole thing is designed to push people into giving up so landlords can collect pet rent. If you’re stuck using this service, save every email and be ready for unnecessary hoops. Definitely not a renter-friendly company.This company profits from pet rent and related fees, and because you cannot be made to pay for an ESA, they will do everything in their power to break you down until you give in and just pay fees. As a landlord or renter, please be aware of these practices.

Waste of money and time.

Two, almost 3 years ago we were required to use this service to apply for an apartment. They would not accept the letter from my physician for my ESA, no matter how many variations I gave them. Second they charged us to use it. We decided to not rent that apartment. What I found out recently is that even though we did not rent that apartment and did not continue using that service they have been charging us yearly. There was not communication the first time we used it that we would have to continue paying for this. I am so upset and believe it is scamming people.
