This is what you are agreeing to (TOS). Its quite frightening really.Biometric Information Definition: Biometric Information refers to data that depict or describe physical, biological, or behavioral traits, characteristics, or measurements of or relating to an identified or identifiable person’s body. Biometric Information includes, but is not limited to, depictions, images, descriptions, or recordings of an individual’s facial features, iris or retina, finger or handprints, voice, genetics, or characteristic movements or gestures (e.g., gait or typing pattern). Biometric Information also includes data derived from such depictions, images, descriptions, or recordings, to the extent that it would be reasonably possible to identify the person from whose information the data had been derived. By way of example, both a photograph of a person’s face and a facial recognition template, embedding, faceprint, or other data that encode measurements or characteristics of the face depicted in the photograph constitute Biometric Information. There are different definitions for biometric information, or biometric data, under different state laws. Within this Biometric Policy we generally adopt the Federal Trade Commission’s (“FTC”) definition.Consider all the family and friends that one would normally upload and the amount of unsolicited (not asked for given or done voluntarily.) information they gather on these people. They own this information (by your terms agreement) and are free to gather and sell this information for profit or include this into AI person recognition.Id also add that I used this company 25 years ago. It was crap then and even worse now. I cant access my old photo's without first signing the agreement which I will never do AND then pay a subscription fee to access the photo's. You are basically taken hostage of your own content previously uploaded.
I have not been able to log into any of my accounts for a year no matter how many password resets I do. I’ve contacted them on social media but no response. Yet today I was CHARGED for a subscription renewal via my Apple account. How can I cancel if I CANT LOG IN? I’ve contacted Apple as well as filing a BBB complaint.
I almost fell into the trap of paying to download content, but thanks to a reply here I followed the delete my account option instead and got a ZIP file with all my photos!Annoyingly I'd already downloaded these years ago, but at least it didn't cost me anything to discover that, thanks to the helpful reviewer who mentioned it.Overall, don't pay them, follow the delete my account option and you get all your photos in a file!
They kept all my photos after I went over their first limit. What gives them the right to my photos. If I went over the limit because repeat photos, then block those but to trick people to uploading then charging for over the limit and blocking view of ALL their photos is wrong! DO NOT USE PHOTOBUCKET!, unless you want to lose all your uploaded photos!
Like everyone here, I have been left with a bad taste in my mouth about Photobucket.I don’t even remember what I used Photobucket for, nor do I really care to find out. On an email I seldomly use I saw constant emails from Photobucket. Because my account had been inactive for so long I had to re-enable it, so I figured I’d get in touch with support to delete my account in accordance with GDPR. What a waste of time that was, as they wanted me to provide proof of address and ID, the former of which wouldn’t have been on file since the account is at least 15 years old. By refusing I was told to reactivate my account and delete it once logged in, but the page you are greeted with has two massive subscriptions to gain access to your account (which I never paid for in the past). Turns out there is a very small “delete account” option at the bottom hidden away hoping to never be seen, and once that’s clicked you need to confirm you want to delete your account about 5 times.Complete and utter scummy business tactics, praying on general public and using unethical privacy policies and UI design to scam you for money.
Photobucket charges for what the competition does for free. And they hold your old images ransom, so, this is just a scam now.Edit 1: I have since deleted my account entirely, and photobucket continues harassing me with emails about my account. Even though it is deleted. And their "support bot" doesn't understand a single question you ask it.Edit 2: Its been 9 months since the last edit and still receive emails. I had asked them twice, and twice was I told "so sorry, we'll fix this".But they simply will not remove you from their email list, even if you ask them TWICE.Only way to stop them is to make inbox rules to send their mails straight to the trash.Edit 3:Almost a year since i deleted my account and i STILL get emails about the images of an account that doesn't exist anymore. They simply do not give a damn about it, and they just won't remove me from their mailing list.
