Review Time
Everybody should read the review by Ste. After being deluged by emails from Photobucket I followed Ste's advice, which was easy. When I received the download link it told me I had no media stored anyway! I must have joined Photobucket and never uploaded any media. So my account is being deleted within 30 days.IMPORTANT - note that I did not have to agree to any terms and conditions to delete my account. I also didn't need to sign in or create a new password, all they needed was my email address, which they obviously had already. A welcome relief. So overall I was very happy the way things went in the download & delete operation, thanks to Ste's advice. However I was very unhappy with Photobucket badgering me for months and threatening to sell my biometric info (not that they had any of it!!!), that's blackmail, hence the 1-star category.
Con artistsI received an emailing stating an old free account would be ending. I reached out and was told I could have free one week access to delete my account. As I went to do this it connected to my PayPal. I contacted them and told them this was an error and I did not mean to subscribe, although it would seem their website does this on purpose. They acknowledged this and said they would refund me. It turns out they didn't cancel, didn't refund and have been billing me for months. I have emailed them on the original ticket and they are denying having received 'conformation' that I wanted to cancel and have a refund - you know despite my complaint and an email from them acknowledging it. They're a disgusting company who are just out to steal your money. They've clearly been taken over by some scammers and now people who had an account decades ago are subject to their email spam - by the way, GDPA came into force whether you are a US website or not a while back, so account details held from over 10 years ago should not have been kept anyway. Steer absolutely clear, they're completely vile. I'm reporting to PayPal and my bank.
Everyone read Ste's review below. You DO NOT NEED TO PAY TO RECOVER YOUR PHOTOS. Just keep clicking on the option to delete your account and you will get a link to download your photos. Thank you so much Ste. Trustpilot give this man an award.
"If Only"I had checked Trustpilot first, it would have saved Me a Lot of time & hopefully only lost $5.I've had a free account since February 2013, only limited use. Got the Standard " your account will be deleted "a few days ago along with a 7day free trial offer, logged in but had to enter credit card details to continue ( Red Flag..! ). I decided to cancel after 4 days, Surprize Surprize login failed & after a few Magic links that all failed I logged in with Google & had to through 7 screens to cancel & this can take up to 30 days before its done by that time you are into the next billing period. Like other reviews, I haven't been able to acsess a single photo so far. I hope reading this saves someone else from a lot of stress & worry.
They don't stop messaging about account being shut down then want me to pay. Never known a company to send so many warnings about closing account. Please just shut the account. Google photos is free. No matter how many times you subscribe they still send same crap.
Hi, I'm in the EU, but I hope this works for everyone: Photobucket has now sent this email where you must opt in to their biometric AI-scraping and data selling, or delete your account. My free account got deactivated and there was no way to access the files. So I decided to delete. The start screen after the login shows two paid options. At the bottom there is the delete link. I clicked that. Another paid plan was offered. I clicked delete again. And lo and behold, on the last page there appeared the option to request a takeout link for my files! This worked like a charm. They emailed the link instantly and I could download a zip file with my photos, nicely sorted into the same folders as on photobucket, and then continue the deletion process on their website. They also tell you that you have 30 days to email their support to un-delete your account, just in case. Also if you have lots of content there, they might email you several links, so just wait until everything has arrived. So if you still have pics there like family memories etc., it is worth trying this route. If this takeout link doesn't appear for you, you can still cancel the deletion process and contact their support. Good luck everybody!
Photobucket will email you multiple times a week stating they've locked you out for inactivity and you now must pay to regain access... They'll threaten you about a pending deletion twice a week for months and even if you click unsubscribe they continue... They don't tell you how to recover your data (which under GDPR they legally have to allow), they won't stop nagging you, very unprofessional.
Received some BS email telling me my account has been LOCKED after NEVER receiving an email to tell me it was at risk of being LOCKED. Head to site and it wants me to pay 5 dollars to even see if I have any photos in my account. They can go F themselves. To charge you 5 dollars to see that they’ve already deleted your photos? This is a scam and I can’t wait for them to base jump into their own grave with this BS. This company is clearly a trash extortion site now. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. They actually want YOU TO PAY FOR A PREMIUM ACCOUNT SO YOU CAN DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT! IF YOU ARE CONFUSED, I WILL REPEAT IT FOR YOU. THEY EMAIL YOU THE FOLLOWING:Your account has been locked.Your account has been locked for your security. Please login to unlock your account and access any photos you may have uploaded. You head to the site and are met with this BS message: Upgrade your Photobucket account to continueUnlock your account with a My Bucket subscription. For just $5 per month, you can safely store your photos and videos and with 1TB of storage, you won’t run out of space. No risk - purchase now, cancel anytime.Nobody should be demanding you pay them 5 dollars ( more if you don’t live in the US ) to see the photos in your account. Like the most jankiest scam site ever. It looks like a trash spoof site, but they’re serious! They want you to PAY to unlock your account that you never had a chance to view prior to them locking and presumably deleting all your photos, so you’re paying these pr•cks for NOTHING!!!THE DEFINITION OF UNPROFESSIONAL. F PHOTOBUCKET AND THEIR SH•TE ARTIST OWNERS. YOU’RE GREEDY PIGS. And no, I WILL NOT upgrade my account.
