I couldn't understand the set-up instructions for Proton's password manager. My password manager now is a spiral-bound notebook with alphabet tabs. It works every time and I had no trouble setting it up - I know the alphabet and I've got a pen ....
Unfortunate that any payment issues are leading to instantly getting locked out of accounts. As a business it’s not something we can rely on as mail needs to be available.Another downside is that there’s isn’t a proper workspace and you need alternatives. I want to be on a EU based and secure platform but this isn’t it sadly. Being locked out of my account instead of being able to resolve issues yourself is a big noUpdate in regards to Protons response below this post: If a bank accidentally refunds it due to insignificant funds it marks you as fraud instantaneously and your account is not downgraded but blocked.
Products are great, all working as you would expect on all platforms. Automatic backup of mobile device photo's to proton drive is also great. And it's a great feeling I am not depended anymore on US tech companies for e-mail and storage. Also, I have had a great experience with the customer support. They were very helpfull.
Great product, am using it for the entire family now.I'm glad with the addition of Sheets. The only thing really missing is good integration with my android contacts, and/or that Proton does not give a clear explanation on why they have chosen this contact implementation and which (security) issues they encounter when they would integrate with Android contact. It might be worth a blog the share their vision on contacts.
Could be better, could be worse. The free range of products they offer is definitely good, especially since free. However, their paid services and products can and should be improved. Some of the apps have unexplainable deficits that make me question why they even exist and why I am paying for them... For example, unlike Google or Microsoft, the Proton cloud storage/sync seems to be programmed only for PC to mobile and not the other way.
I've been a user of Proton's suite of products for a few years now, I first created my account about four years ago. While Proton isn't perfect and some of their products could use quite a bit of work (looking at you, Drive), it has always been reliable and Proton is transparent when it comes to issues.Just today, I decided to upgrade to Visionary while it was still an option, and even though it was quite a high price, what I got was certainly worth it.
They force you to purchase a subscription, and the Swiss block other services under the pretext that you have created a free email account with them to verify other services. And what else is an email account for if not that? Their free VPN also works terribly, constantly disconnecting on my phone. Schemers."Your account has been suspended by our automated fraud detection system. Learn more at proton/blog/anti-abuse-account-security. If you believe this is a mistake, please contact us at proton/support/appeal-abuse."
I found out about this service and it looked better than gmail so I started transferring all my logins from gmail to proton. It seemed pretty good at first with better privacy and less ads. But there are some disadvantages such as the fact that they used generative AI. Please, if you want to host an art competition than only use real artists that are willing to put in the effort. You guys were fine without AI. Please do not become like google or else I will move on to another provider. I use this email for important stuff and tuta for entertainment and casual stuff. If you are against Generative AI then you will probably not like this company, though they use it less than gmail or outlook.
Blocked my account for picking the 'misleading' username! After it was available and I used it and logged into different services! Asked for proof of proper usage, which I provided, and still kept the desicion. Horrible and frankly quite stupid politics.
I heard lots of good stuff about Proton, but I'm already fed up with the daily spam from Proton urging you to update to the relatively expensive paid version. If you have the free version, there are lots of limitations; for example, you cannot download mails to your usual mail programme. So you have to use Proton's app, but if you keep notifications on, you will receive notifications every time Proton spams you with promotional mails. There's no way to unsubscribe from the spam. However, without notifications, I'll miss important mails from others.I'm aware that Proton needs to earn to maintain and develop the system. But then be frank from the beginning and inform potential new users that your main aim is to have users pay for a relatively expensive version.Or, offer a cheaper paid version rather than offer an annoying free version.I'll probably delete my subscription again if the spam continues.
