We originally booked our high speed rail ticket with Trip.com. I got an email today that said the ticket had been cancelled. No explantion given. Hopefully, we get our prepaid refund back. I immediately rebooked the same 1st class ticket, same date, same time, same 3 people on Rail Ninja and within minutes got a confirmation back. So now not so much a fan of Trip.com. At least we were due some explanation for a $400 prepaid ticket request.
DO NOT BUY TICKET VIA rail.ninja. This is scam. They are charging double for the ticket. Egz they charged me $125 but VIARAIL price was just $68. I bought without verification with other websites. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY TICKET WITHOUT VERIFICATION.
I would like to give them MINUS 5 stars but unfortunetly this not the option.
Absolutely terrible experience. Right when I went to book the round trip train, the website switched the station. When working with customer service, they gave me no opportunity to change my ticket and instead had me buy new tickets. When I asked to see the cost of the new tickets and where they were getting the price from, I was told "We're unable to disclose our internal pricing policy." Stay away from this website. Tickets are more expensive and customer service is horrendous.
We initially booked 3 trains using Rail Ninja, for a Portugal and Italy trip.
Our expectation for using a third-party booking system was to have one app that would have all our tickets in one spot and in exchange, we would pay a reasonable service fee. Our initial receipt only indicated the total price. However, after some scrutiny, we were stunned to discover unexplainably exorbitant service fees. In two bookings, the service fees were more than the actual ticket price. For example, on a $40 ticket, we paid an additional $82 service fee, for a total of $126. If we had booked directly through the rail company, there would be no service fee, and our total ticket price would have been close to $40. In a third booking, on a $275 ticket, we paid $177 service fees.
We are disappointed we booked with Rail Ninja before we investigated the fees, so going forward, we will definitely forgo the convenience of one stop shopping and book directly with the much cheaper rail companies.
This experience was utterly disappointing. The service offered a ride from one city to another, accepted payment, and clearly confirmed that the payment was successful and the booking was completed. However, more than two hours later, they cancelled the ticket, claiming there were “no seats available.” This goes beyond a minor inconvenience; it reflects a complete failure of basic service. If there are no seats, payment should not be accepted, nor should a booking be confirmed. Learning this after confirmation indicates either a lack of competence or a malfunctioning booking system. The situation worsened as this train was part of a longer journey. We had a confirmed connecting train which was jeopardized due to the service’s error, leading to unnecessary stress, uncertainty, and potential financial loss. Selling a ticket, confirming payment, and then cancelling hours later due to unavailability is unacceptable. A service that cannot effectively manage availability and confirmations should not be handling international train tickets at all. I would strongly recommend that others reconsider relying on this service for time-sensitive or multi-leg journeys.
Avoid at all costs! I booked a train from Seoul to Busan through this service. My ticket didn’t display my carriage, and the train staff almost made me pay again. It was extremely stressful trying to prove my payment since the original ticket couldn’t be found. I also discovered I paid twice the amount compared to other options. It’s definitely not worth it! Please use the official train ticket website instead. Lesson learned—never again!
The fare for the train journey has skyrocketed to double what is usually charged by similar services. While a 20% increase is understandable, doubling the price feels excessively unjust. Nonetheless, I managed to get my ticket and boarded the train for my trip.
