Frustrating experience with an otherwise promising product

I’ve had my device for three weeks, and I was initially very excited about both the user experience and functionality. Unfortunately, my experience has significantly declined as the device has now broken—just three weeks after purchase. When investing in a product at this price point, one expects a certain level of durability and customer service. It’s disappointing that I couldn’t receive a new device and had to send it in for repairs instead. This means I’ll be without my device for the next three weeks, which is frustrating on its own. Even worse, all my notes from the past three weeks—containing important information about business dealings and contacts—were lost due to the required reset before sending it in. This undermines the central promise of the product: to provide clarity and focus in a busy everyday life. I genuinely like the product, but I am truly dissatisfied with how this issue has been handled. I expected a smoother and more customer-friendly solution, such as an immediate replacement when it was clear the fault was not due to user error.

The ideal daily companion

After exploring various e-ink tablets available on the market, I chose a Remarkable. A colleague let me try their RM Paper Pro, and I was immediately impressed. I ordered a refurbished RM2 that very same day. I appreciate the tablet's simplicity, free from unnecessary features and distractions (I have a phone for that). It has reignited my passion for writing, as it is far more convenient than lugging around notebooks and pens. Writing has always been therapeutic for me, and I love that I can sit down with my RM2 to jot down my little stories without discomfort in my hands or wrists—there’s no need to apply as much pressure as with a regular pen on standard notebook paper. I enjoy the variety of marker options, especially the calligraphy and pencil styles. My RM2 has proven to be essential to my daily routine, and I am completely satisfied with my purchase.

Unaddressed screen issues

The company is legitimate and serious. However, its latest two products have been significantly affected by a high percentage of screen-related issues: yellow tint, incorrect color display, etc. It has become widely referred to as a 'screen lottery' online. Customer support does not acknowledge this and tends to provide generic explanations of how the technology works instead of offering exchanges. If you decide to purchase, ensure you compare your screen's performance with others and return it for a new one if you notice discrepancies. Do not expect your concerns to be recognized or taken seriously by the support team.

Missing device and poor customer service response

I ordered a device along with a folio and pen. When the package arrived, the device was missing. The company has not sent out a replacement and instead used accusatory language to suggest that the device had indeed arrived. I have submitted photographs of the package and its contents multiple times, detailed the package to them repeatedly, and even weighed the package for them. Yet, I still have not received confirmation that they will either send a new device or refund my money. When they do respond to my emails (rarely), it is only to inform me that 'the investigation is ongoing'. I have repeatedly stated that any investigation between them and their fulfillment partner is irrelevant to me; I just want the goods I paid for. I am extremely disappointed and shocked at the tone and manner of their responses.

Extremely poor customer service

Customer service is absolutely terrible. They claim you are chatting with a real person, but you are actually communicating with a bot. I tried to place an order, and they misled me regarding payment options. I requested to cancel the order, yet I have to wait 10 days for a refund even though I cancelled within 30 minutes due to their misleading payment options.

The customer service is excellent, with prompt responses and accurate support that resolved my issue immediately! I’ve owned my device for nearly three years now, and it still provides a great experience! Highly recommended!

Hardware issues lead to support frustrations

I own three devices: the latest model and two earlier versions. I’ve been a fan of the product overall until I faced the replacement process. My device developed significant ghosting, which customer support confirmed was a hardware problem, and a replacement was approved. Unfortunately, this is where my experience turned frustrating. The replacement process is outdated and takes over a month to complete. During this time, I’m left without my device. While receiving a defective unit wasn’t my fault, the lengthy replacement process ultimately became my responsibility as a customer. I still value the product, but this experience impacted my confidence in the support process.

Unhelpful support and lack of authority

After struggling with unclear setup instructions, I finally got it working at a basic level but then lost the pen, which is only attached by a weak magnet. I sought help and was told to buy a new one for a high price, with refusal to ship it to me at my expense. When I expressed my frustrations about the company’s pricing and customer support, I was met with a dismissive response. I will now explore other options to resolve this issue.
