Extremely disappointing experience!

The experience I had with the car rental service was very disappointing from beginning to end. The troubles started right when I arrived: the office was hard to locate and no one answered the phone. Along with other customers, I waited nearly 45 minutes for assistance, and over an hour before we were finally picked up. Once at the office, the staff struggled with English, and after another hour of waiting, we learned that some services included in the booking had not been provided. No one was willing to assist or take responsibility. I chose to leave anyway, but 20 minutes into driving, a warning light appeared. I attempted to call the help desk for over 30 minutes without success. Since I was close, I returned to the office, where they admitted they forgot to reset the service indicator. Consequently, instead of departing at 09:00, we only began our journey at 12:30. Upon returning the vehicle, the staff were polite and processed the check-out properly. However, the real issues arose two months later when I received a toll fine. Nobody at the rental office had informed me that tolls in the area are virtual. I had to handle the situation myself with the French authorities, aided by a friend who speaks French. I ended up paying both the toll and a late payment fine. Fortunately, I paid in October; otherwise, the fine would have exceeded €200. After six months, I encountered another unwelcome surprise: the company charged my bank account three times €30 without any prior notice. When I reached out, I was told this was for “data processing.” This is unacceptable. Had I waited until January, I would have faced another fine over €200, yet they felt justified in charging me without notification. Such conduct is unprofessional and unacceptable. I strongly recommend that potential customers consider other options and invest in a more reliable rental service.

Absolutely brutal customer service

Absolutely brutal customer service. We reserved a car at a given Rent A Car location nearby. Reservation went through and we received email confirmation of the pickup location. Next morning we get an email with a different pickup location mentioned, so we call in to figure out what's up. Turns out the location we reserved has been closed for 2 years (!!) and since it's now within 48 hours of my reservation, they absolutely REFUSE to cancel. There's literally nothing I could have done given that I was only notified of the new pickup location less than 48 hours from pickup. There's no reasoning with these crooks, they're not out to help.

I tried calling the help desk for more than 30 minutes, with no answer. Since I was still nearby, I returned to the office, where they admitted they had forgotten to reset/update the service indicator. As a result, instead of leaving at 09:00, we only started our trip at 12:30.At the vehicle return, the staff was polite and completed the check-out correctly. However, the real problems started two months later, when I received a toll fine. Nobody at the rental office had informed me that tolls in Normandy are virtual. Terrible company

Terrible company. I used RentACar for my trip to Gran Canaria. When I arrived they said they would be waiting for me but nobody was there. Then, they said I had to tell them I was late (They had the booking details and could see it was delayed). They expected me to call them when I was flying to say I couldn't get there in time. Don't use them use another company.

Disregard for child safety

I would never use this company again due to their disregard for child safety. We booked a baby seat for our 10 month old baby and when we picked up the car they had given us a booster seat. We paid 70 euro for the baby seat and it specifically said for babies aged 1-12 months. The booster seat only costs 25 euro for the week so they absolutely knew what they were doing. They have scammed us out of money and used the safety of our baby to do so. When we called up to explain their mistake we were told there was nothing we could do and they wouldn't reimburse us our 70 euro either.

Poor franchise. Out of sync with other rental providers.

First car hire from a supposedly serious car hire company (enterprise) that has required customer to clean car inside and out before returning. I also see similar complaints below with responses from Rentacar stating T&C’s and extraordinary dirtiness of car. To claim this in my case would be gross dishonesty. The car was returned little dustier than it was picked up. Rentacar then apply a disproportionate charge to clean the car. Also, highlighted that no other rental company at Figari airport made these charges. Quite possibly this is a franchise issue and Enterprise/Rentacar will look at addressing this. Not recommended. If you want to go with this company, I suggest you add the 130 euro cleaning fee to the quoted price, or spend the last 2 hours of the holiday cleaning your car. Better value elsewhere.

Very untrustworthy company

I would NOT recommend this rental company to ANYONE. I booked a hire car INCLUDING insurance on April 13th. I did not realise I needed a driving license as their website was all in French with no option to translate into English. I do not speak or read French so did not understand this. They refuse to reimburse me the €146 I paid. I even went INTO the branch (Arcachon) in person to confirm if I can get a refund and the lady (Centrine) assured me that when the manager came in I would be reimbursed for this. I have received emails to say the company isn’t liable and will not refund me as it was written on the website…. But in FRENCH! How can a customer coming from the UK and booking with you for the first time know this?This is a very unprofessional, untrustworthy, non-customer friendly company and I will be taking action further if this is not resolved. I would like my money back.

No issues at Lyon airport

Rented a car for a week from Lyon airport. Please make sure you give them a ring once you are at the pick up location. I don't think this has been mentioned in the paperwork but I could be wrong.Form then on everything was impeccable. I had the fastest check in ever, literally 2 minutes, got a good Opel Astra with 25000 on the clock, check out and transfer to the airport were efficient and quick as well.Obviously as with any other cat hire company make sure you do your homework beforehand but these guys seem to be honest and reliable.

Unfortunately

Unfortunately, my experience with this rental car company was extremely disappointing. I rented a vehicle at a pre agreed price like , but in the end, I was charged significantly more due to an issue that was not my fault.and during the rental period, the car suddenly stopped working due to a malfunction in the electronic ignition system. I contacted customer support, but instead of receiving assistance or a replacement vehicle, I was told that the repair costs would be my responsibility! Even though the issue was not caused by my negligence or improper use, I was still charged unexpected fees, making the final amount much higher than what I originally agreed to pay.At no point was it clearly explained why I was being held responsible for a mechanical failure, and the support team was slow and uninterested in resolving the issue. Instead of transparency, I was faced with hidden fees and an unprofessional approach.I would not recommend this rental car company to anyone looking for reliable and fair service. If you want to avoid unpleasant surprises and additional charges, I strongly suggest choosing a different companyyy!

Do not trust this agency

The airport rental agency ruined the end of our nice holiday in Corsica. The car they rented me didn’t show how much petrol I had put in it. I topped up the tank 3 times before dropping it off (at about 2 litres per time - ridiculous I know but I was stressed because the petrol gauge didn’t register the amount I was putting in). No one was at the agency despite their opening hour displayed at 9am. Our flight was a 10am so I left the agency in good faith, leaving a phone message and my fuel receipts in the car. I got a call after arriving at home, telling me that I was going to be charged for the missing fuel and there was nothing they could do. DO NOT TRUST THIS AGENCY.
