Review Time
Had the misfortune to deal with this company with an order placed at the beginning of March. Website is misleading, taking your eye with only positive reviews, good looking knives at a very good price and having the so-called stamp of approval from some chefs or publication. Don't be fooled into buying from this company, their knives are not Japanese - dropshipping from a warehouse from China.
I noticed too late that everything is wrong here. Really it is a company "based" in UK but just dropshipping from China. They send false tracking information so that you cannot see it is shipping from China, until it is too late to cancel - then they send the right tracking information... now I probably will wait a month for the product to arrive and lets see how that goes. Overall, this way of doing business is unethical and misleading. Even if the quality of the product is good, it should be clear to the customer where the production is taking place, so that we know what we are supporting in terms of working conditions etc. To my knowledge, this is a violation of consumer protection laws and advertising regulations. In UK and EU (who still share the same laws around these issues), consumers must have access to all key information about the transaction before purchasing, or else we have the right to a refund no matter if the product is faulty or not.
I bought a Three Knife set and am very pleased with them, they are razor sharp and very attractive in appearance. I have read some of the reviews with surprise, they are Japanese knives where would you expect them to be manufactured. The lead time is a little long but Quality of the product makes them well worth waiting for.
My kitchen knife was ordered on 31st January. After my first complaint I was promised delivery within 10 days on 10 February. And of course nothing. I strongly advise not using this company. They are taking order and expecting customers to wait until they have stock.I did receive a £12.50 rebate for late delivery, but this does not make amends for the poor service. I have been given no updates by the company and now asked for a full refund.
I bought a Santoku Damascus Nakiri knife which quickly became my favorite go to knife however after several months use and the pommel fell off. Which was a complete revelation since they are marketed as a premium product and I hadn’t abused of dropped it. I contacted santoku to ask about repairing or replacement and was told they do not offer any such service by their customer service representative.Very disappointing response after paying £84.99 for a 6.7inch knife.Furthermore the response from Santoku after 3 month from my review states, I immersed the knife in water is just a poor excuse from the company to try and vindicate themselves as there was not mention of water when I spoke to the customer service dept. Whilst in truth I did not immerse the knife in water only wipe the blade after use . Btw an interesting fact is that I’m a trained / qualified mechanical engineer so I do have knowledge of metallurgy. This is a poorly manufactured product and awful customer service.Let be clear Santoku, the only way to negate this telling review is either repair and make good the knife or replace the faulty product, then I will delete this review. otherwise buyers beware this is a rogue company made in China under a Japanese name to give credence to a shabbily made product.
