The scenic river cruise exceeded all expectations. The staff was exceptionally professional and friendly. The cabins were spotless, and the food was far superior to what I've had on ocean cruises. Anyone who finds fault must be incredibly hard to please!
My first riverboat cruise was far from enjoyable and will likely be my last. I booked a romantic journey from one city to another, but the ship was in a deplorable state. It clearly needed extensive maintenance and a complete update of its furnishings, many of which were damaged or worn out. As someone who has experienced numerous high-quality trips, this cruise fell short in cleanliness and service from some staff members and the cruise manager. This was marketed as a luxury experience, yet it did not meet those expectations. 1. My room was inadequately cleaned.
2. The duvet cover had visible stains, including blood, and required replacement. The second cover also had stains, and the third was torn. I received another stained cover halfway through the trip.
3. The bed's skirting was damaged and hanging off.
4. Light switches were marked with stains.
5. My balcony was littered with long white hair clumps, though I have dark hair.
6. Some coat hangers were broken.
7. Many lounge seats were torn and covered in crumbs from previous guests.
8. The lounge floor was dirty with leftover food, never cleaned during the cruise.
9. Tables in the lounge were not wiped down regularly and were stained.
10. I received stained linen napkins multiple times.
11. The safety video was pixelated and unviewable; the cruise director dismissed my concern.
12. Stair railings to the dining area were not cleaned, covered in stains.
13. The Captain's Table dinner felt noisy and uncomfortable, lacking the usual special ambiance.
14. Tours often took place in towns that were closed, preventing visits to museums or shopping, despite the company being aware of these closures.
15. The butler service was lackluster, failing to meet simple requests. The ship showed considerable wear and is in dire need of renovation. I expected a luxury experience, but this one was disappointing. I reached out to a senior representative with my concerns and provided photographic evidence, only to receive a $500 voucher for future cruises as compensation. I have decided not to travel with this company again.
