I was overcharged at this location and corporate refuses to help. Here are the details:
I stayed here in January of 2026. I booked directly through the hotel and was guaranteed a rate that was held by credit card and I opted to pay for the stay when I checked in. That was my first mistake. More on that later.
The location is good in a sense. You are very close to one of the bus lines and very close to many of the restaurants in the neighborhood. However it feels like you are also on the borderline of what could be sketchy by about a few blocks. I didn’t have a problem but I saw a few hotels in some very nice parts of Roma Norte with more greenery and cuter looking homes around.
The hotel seems like a popular place for Americans as I heard a lot of english there.
The staff are very kind and professional.
The rooms were nice and clean. I was facing the street so I heard some noise but I like that. I can sleep through most things.
You were given 2 bottles of water daily which was nice. There is no ice machine in the halls or on any floors so you have to go to the restaurant with your hotel bucket and ask them to fill it. I found that a little odd. No fridge in the room either.
Now for the reason I gave this the poor rating I did. The hotel was fine but the billing has been a nightmare.
If you are in the USA once you have a locked in guaranteed room rate when you check in they will put a pending hold onto the card used for incidentals I assumed. I saw the hold and it was around $350 more than the rate I was given for a week. When I pointed it out to the front desk they said it will fall away once the true billing occurs. No problem.
I had to extend the stay by one day due to Winter Storm Fern. They said it wasn’t a problem.
When I checked out they had a folio with the breakdown of the bill. I noticed that in USD it was higher by about $45 dollars. I asked them about it and they said that once the bill goes through it will be accurate. What I am looking at is a “Pending” charge.
As I make my way to the airport I get an alert on my phone from Marriott for a pending charge that is $237 over what the bill should be.
I phone Marriott trying to find out why this was and after doing some sleuthing online it turns out that I am not alone. Many have had 15% added to their stay in various Marriott branches in the world.
What happened is that on the website they give you a price in USD. When you check out they charge you in pesos and then they do the currency conversion to dollars themselves. And their rate is very high. The only way around this is to pay in Pesos via cash when you leave. I obviously didn’t try that as I was assured that the ‘extra’ would fall off but it was suggested on some Reddit threads.
I find this practice very misleading and deceptive. And to find out it’s been happening since 2021 and before really will make me think about choosing Marriott in the future if I am going to Mexico. I stayed at the Marriott in Osaka and there were no hidden conversion fees. Maybe it’s this Marriott which is doing it? I called corporate and they told me only the hotel can reverse the charges so maybe this particular branch is like a franchise. Who knows but this is a warning to others who choose to stay here. Even though it looks like your rate is locked in ..if you’re paying in US currency via credit card expect a hefty 15% added to your bill.
We recently stayed at the Sheraton Tampa Brandon Hotel while attending a volleyball tournament, and unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. After checking in and arriving on the third floor, we immediately noticed a strong musty odor, likely from water damage. There were drying machines running in the hallways, which reinforced this concern. Upon entering our room, the smell was even more intense, making it difficult to relax or sleep over the two nights due to poor air quality. The cleanliness of the room was also unacceptable. The bottom of the shower curtain had visible red mold, and the toilet had not been properly cleaned. In addition, we observed both live and dead cockroaches in the stairwells. A dirty Q-tip remained in the hallway the entire duration of our stay, indicating a lack of basic housekeeping. We reported these issues to management, who took our contact information and told us we would be relocated to a different room. However, no one followed up with us, and the situation was never resolved.Based on the poor conditions and lack of customer service, we would not recommend staying at this hotel.
The conference staff at The Sheraton Heathrow are really professional.I have had the pleasure of delivering training here a number of times and without fail their staff are polite, supportive and really attentive A special thanks to Slaydon and Maisie who have gone above and beyond

I prepaid this stay and still had what appeared to be a duplicate charge posted to my credit card. I raised the issue with the hotel while on property and was told it was fixed and would not post — yet it did. If I had not closely monitored my account and caught it again, I would have been charged twice without authorization. The hotel simply reversed the charge after the fact and offered nothing beyond a weak apology. The message from corporate seems to be that this is acceptable behavior, especially since the booking was made through a third party. If you book a prepaid stay here, watch your credit card closely so you’re not billed twice.
We just spend a week at Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach, Golf & Spa Resort which was suppose to be a 5 star hotel! Not at all. Lack of service in the restaurants. The plates and glasses were chipped. Lack of maintenance of the rooms. The bathtub was not properly installed, as there was a large gap between the tub and the wall.According to the information from our travel agency, men were required to wear long trousers in the restaurants. This was not required at all, as many men were dining wearing shorts and flip-flops!On the dashboard by the pool, there was a sign of 'no dogs allowed', but there were still at least five different families having their dog with them by the pool.
the Sharaton Marriot in Memphis was awful, the bar and restaurant were both closed, apparently due to under occupancy, and the room wasnt particularly great, if youre going to take bookings then you should offer all the services expected of the hotel, if you cant be bothered to do that, then dont take bookings!!!
When we checked in at the Hotel, the night clerk said-"we have an upgrade for you", but the upgrade seemed to be a downgrade. I had requested and paid for a queen bed as we were a couple but the "upgrade" happened to be twin beds. When enquired the next day, we were told it would be sorted, but when we returned in the evening, nothing was done about it and we wasted hours while they gave us a new room-no apologies or anything except for one front office staff while the top managers strutted around not bothering at all.
They stole money from the safe Sheraton Oman employ thieves from top to bottom. When confronted, they wasted 2 hours of our weekend and did nothing. They claim that no one can open the hotel safe which is total lies, because we confronted them with the fact that it can be opened when someone forget his number. What is strange is they try to cover the crime rather then fix it which means the management must be involved. Shame on you Sheraton. you supposed to be top hotel!
