Simyo Spain SIM card does not work abroad. I have been unable to receive calls or SMS from my bank since January. After two months of going back and forth with support, the final answer was simply: “there is nothing more we can do.”My advice is that if you plan to travel outside Spain and need to receive bank SMS codes or phone calls, it is safer to choose a larger provider such as Movistar or Vodafone. I had to learn this the hard way. Simyo left me without service during my trip.
Their policy about overseas data usage is outrageous; they use technical loopholes as part of their business model. If you accidentally turn on mobile internet outside the EU, you'll be immediately charged 60 euros, because they set crazy tariffs (5 euros for 1 mb). I did it once, that was my fault, agree (they catch you - tricky but according to the rules). But today my wife switched mobile data to a different sim card in advance, then turned on mobile internet, and was also charged. The support said: "The usage you see is recorded by the SIM card and the device on the network. Sometimes, a small amount of data may still be used after you've changed the SIM card, for example, because a session wasn't fully completed or due to a delay in the network registration." I'm switching to another operator and will never recommend Simyo to anyone, this is an unworthy way to earn money from your clients.
