Deposit Not Refunded & Poor Experience – Be Careful
I had a very disappointing experience with Smart Lease Rent a Car.

I was promised a Nissan Sunny but was given a different car (KIA Pegas), which was unclean and not properly prepared.
I paid full rental, insurance, and deposit in advance (cash).
At the time of return (9th March), I was asked to pay AED 678 separately for fines, despite the company already holding my deposit.
I was informed the deposit would be refunded within 30 working days.

It has now been over 30 days with no refund and no proper response.

I have tried:

Calling their refund numbers
Sending WhatsApp messages
Emailing their accounts department

There has been no resolution.

Another concern was that the fine numbers could not be verified on official systems at the time. When questioned, I was told they are only visible internally, which is not standard practice.

I have now escalated this matter to Dubai Consumer Protection.

If others have faced similar issues, I would encourage them to:

Share their experiences responsibly through official review platforms
Raise complaints through the appropriate UAE authorities

This helps ensure transparency and protects future customers.

I strongly recommend others to:

Verify companies before renting
Avoid large cash payments
Be cautious with deposit policies

This car rental company is an absolute scam. Avoid at all costs.We have been chasing them for our deposit through phone calls and WhatsApp, and they either do not respond at all or give empty promises that the money will be returned “soon.” Nothing ever happens.The car itself was in a terrible condition - damaged, dirty, and smelled awful. It was honestly shocking that they would even rent it out. Completely unacceptable.Their customer service is non-existent, and the whole experience feels dishonest from start to finish. It is clear they have no intention of returning deposits.They are thieves. Please do not rent from them.

Trust me when I tell you this.

Trust me when I tell you this.You wont get your deposit back in 30 days.Youve been warned!They will ignore your request if your query is anything to do with getting your deposit back. Im currently in the process of making an official complaint to the government. My car went back in January and its now march! They still haven't refunded it.

HORIBBLEI got a car that was damaged in the first place.I waited for 5 hours for the company rep to take the car back.whatsapp- phone - no responseI have been waiting for my refund which should have at least one month ago - no news - no response - no reply - no accountability.This company should be BLACK listed and they are not trust worthy at all - especially the apparent owner WASIM .DO NOT TAKE A RENT A CAR FROM THEM - cheaters and liars of the first order.

Worst car rental experience

Worst car rental experience. Asked for a Nissan Sunny and gave a Kia car. And that car had a wheel unbalance. and car was shaking while driving. Despite several requests they did not replace the car until one month finished. Even the driver who came to collect the car was sooo rude and was a scammer. With AED 75 to 85 the car fuel tank becomes full. Still he was asking 100 AED for filling the tank, while having already more than a quarter. And there was only a half of the tank when I received the car. And they take additional 20% for RTA fines. They send their bill without any proof for the fine. They say that they have already paid the fine though only one week passed from the date of the RTA fine. And according to their behavior not sure whether i will get my deposit back.

rented a car through Yango, with SmartLeaseDubai.com as the sub-rental company. I paid a security deposit of AED 1,999 at delivery.After returning the car, I was told the deposit would be refunded within 30 working days. The refund was delayed. After repeated follow-ups, they suddenly claimed deductions for a traffic fine (AED 713) and extra kilometers (AED 412).This is incorrect. My rental included 600 km, and I drove only around 400 km. I requested official proof of the fine and mileage calculation but received no response.I have full documentation, photos, and chat records. Very disappointing experience and poor communication.I would not recommend this company. Still waiting for refund

**SCAM **SCAM **SCAM *SCAMSTAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM COMPANY!I am unsure how they are legally allowed to operate in Dubai. Stupidly I did not read the reviews prior to having any dealings with this shambolic company. I’ve sent emails, phone calls, WhatsApp’s and still they refuse to return the deposit. It’s been well over 30 working days since returning the car.They pretend to action the refund but it’s all fake empty promises.I strongly suggest to anyone who is in the same position to raise a “chargeback” request with visa or Mastercard. This flags Smartlease as a fraud merchant and they will refund you themselves. All I get from them is a “hello”

Shocking, scamming, thieving company. Do not hire a car from this company as you won’t get your deposit back. They don’t respond to phone calls, emails etc. Read the reviews. This isn’t a one off, it is the norm. They shouldn’t be allowed to operate a business. Have already reported to Police and Trading Standards. Out and out criminals and thieves.Contract8148

Scammers! They didnt refund me my deposit till now its been more than 2 months. I raised a complaint on consumers protection. Avoid at all costs. I am yet to hear about anyone who received their deposit back
