Villa marcelo moraira, excellent villa and pool, great sea views and outside space. BBQ area amazing. Villa was clean on arrival, no ants! Bedrooms spacious and great storage space. Pool man and gardener were not an issue, friendly and did the job quickly. Outside shower a bonus as shower in double bedroom not very spacious! Overall a very enjoyable stay. No issues with company, good communication before hand, no need to contact during stay
We were a family of 5 staying for 2 weeks at Freedom villa. This is a large 4 bed spacious exceptionally well maintained villa in a very quiet location. We've visited the area on many occasions and stayed in different properties each time so feel experienced enough to give our honest viewpoint. The villa has an amazing view of the argaka, yialia, latchi and akamas coastline with countryside all around. It is very peaceful with just one other villa at a short distance in front but not overlooked or noise intruded in any way. There's a lovely pool area with plenty of shade and seating areas and a barbecue at the side which we put to use a couple of times. The surrounding gardens are pretty and well maintained, watch out for a couple of rather spikey shrubs at the back of the villa if you have little children though. A nice touch is the new hot tub (at an extra cost), but great for a relaxing hour or two with a glass of something!Inside is a large lounge area with a very comfortable leather sofa and tv (hardly used) with some books and games for entertainment. A very well equipped kitchen with plentiful crockery and utensils and a great size fridge. We did have a bit of a kitchen ant infestation which we've experienced in villas before, but discovered their entry point, blocked it up and that seemed to sort them out!! This is probably the only villa that we've stayed in that provided us with bathroom towels and also a large supply of pool towels, which was great as in my opinion you can never have enough towels. Bedrooms and bathrooms are all very spacious large doubles with lots of wardrobe, drawer and hanger space, no complaints there. However the mattresses are quite hard, as are the pillows which was an issue for us, softer pillows really would be a huge improvement even if the mattresses might suit some guests. The only other issue that we felt should be addressed is the access road to the villa, it is very much an off-road track, very bumpy and not suitable for hire cars that aren't 4x4's, we had 2 cars that were kia stonics and had to drive it very carefully. The owners were friendly, visited us a couple of times enquiring as to whether we were happy or needed anything which was very kind but not intrusive at all.During our holiday we visited the Kykkos Monastery (quite a drive), a donkey farm in kathikas (bit distressing to see these poor guys to be honest), hired some quads & buggies and went on our own Akamas adventure (great fun as always), visited Omoodos which is such a pretty little village and found the monastery there extremely interesting, made the usual trip to Paphos and The Arches in Polis (lovely little shop) for souvenirs and then did plenty of relaxing by the pool. This is a great villa for peace and quiet that we would highly recommend but a bit of a drive (20 mins) if like us you dine out most evenings on holiday and want to get in to Polis or Latchi, but nevertheless very nice indeed. We've not used Solmar before but we would have no hesitation in using them again. All communications with them were simple, prompt, friendly, plenty of info and they've been a great company to use for our first experience with them.
The villa was in a lovely rural location overlooking olive trees and mountains in the distance. Beautiful pool and pool area perfect. Plenty sun beds and outdoor dining table with chairs in shaded area. You DO need a car though, nearest shops and restaurants 10 minutes drive away, walking not really as option as it’s a steep dust track to the main road . Even taking rubbish to the bins involves taking the car. Villa was well equipped, beds comfy, great bathrooms and place was spotless. We had adequate privacy from Villa next door. Only problem was the air conditioning, it only seemed to come on sporadically, it was exceptionally hot while we were there and we couldn’t get the bedrooms cool enough during the evening or nighttime which made sleeping difficult. So lose a star for that.
While we were out that night, we returned back to our villa to find that our villa had been completely ransacked, with the safe easily removed and taken that contained all our passports. We called the police who arrived an hour later and asked if we had any camera footage. In fact we had no CCTV or any alarms. The front door had one flimsy lock on a handle where you could gain access with a credit card! Furthermore, the back gates were constantly left open by the staff who worked at the villa . It was perfect for any one to break in and leave unnoticed! This left our kids so traumatised we had to leave the villa that night and stayed in a friends villa cramped in one room trying to come to terms with what had just happened,The next day was spent at a Turkish police station where we felt as if we had done something wrong. It seemed this villa was not registered so we had to wait for hours until the owner of the villa turned up to deal with the police. After about 4/5 hours we managed to get the report, but we could not report it as a burglary ,as we would have to wait for 2 weeks, this is because the local police would have to bring in outside police to investigate the crime. Therefore we were advised to report our passports as being lost. All this added to our stress. We then had to book into a hotel until we obtained emergency passports, and then the stress of booking flights! We eventually had to book 2 separate flights back as there were hardly any return flights. When we returned we contacted Solmar by email and phone, without reply, only a generic email. After constant calls and emails we received an email stating that their security met with their standards! An absolute joke!! A Luxe Collection villa with this kind of security- beggars belief. Please do not consider using this company, the customer service is beyond bad, with no understanding about how our whole holiday was ruined by this experience and the trauma it caused for our children.
Burgled on holiday-Solmar Villas have woeful security standards and appalling customer care. We were burgled on holiday, the robbers ransacked the Villa we were staying in and ripped out the entire safe. This left our kids so traumatised that we couldn’t stay at the villa for the last two days of our holiday, we then had to move to a hotel until we obtained emergency passports to travel home and spent some extremely stressful time at a Turkish police station. The security at our villa was woefully inadequate, it had a front door with only one lock in the handle, and you could gain entry into the villa from the front door using a credit card. In addition, the alarm and CCTV didn’t work. Furthermore, the back gates were constantly left open by the people who worked at the villa. When we raised these security issues with Solmar Villas, (calling them and emailing them repeatedly after we got home), they refused to engage with us meaningfully for 6 weeks, not so much as a courtesy call to enquire after our well being after this ordeal. They then sent us an email saying that they were satisfied that the villa met their security standards and that an alarm and CCTV wasn’t required for this type of property, despite this villa being part of their Luxe Collection. I would urge, (in the strongest terms), not to use this company as they have refused to learn anything from our terrible experience, so they can improve the standard of security at their villas, and reduce the risk of burglaries occurring for other customers in the future. Indeed, they only seem interested in ensuring that they try to place the blame on you in order to avoid liability for compensation. The email they eventually sent us insinuated that the robbery was somehow our fault, because (apparently), you can turn the onelock(in the front door handle)three times, we turned it once (from outside) when going out, but we know for a fact it didn't turn at all from the inside as we tried it. So in effect, we were sleeping at night with a flimsy door that you could gain entry into with a credit card.Furthermore, Solmar have the most appalling customer service, unless of course you are one day late in making a payment for your villa, when they are more than happy to give you a call, email you and engage with you. It goes without saying that I do not recommend you spend your money with this company, please note there have been other reviews left where robberies have taken place, with Solmar Villas behaving in these ways towards other customers too. Ultimately, this is a company that isn’t interested in a dialogue in order to learn from these awful situations, or take the necessary actions to improve the security at the villas they rent out; thereby reducing the risk of this happening to other customers. In short, they treat their customers with contempt.
We stayed in a Solmar villa 3 times now, and each time it has been great. The website search function can be a bit clunky but it gets the job done. I like that they sort out extras you might need, car hire in previous years and a cot and high chair this year. This year we had an issue with hot water to the villa, all it took to resolve was a quick phone call. By lunch time the next day it was repaired.Vilas have always been high quality and clean. With nice features. The pool area we had this year was in a beautifully landscaped garden area.
Easy to book on line. The villa suited all our requirements. The service whenever I needed to contact Solmar was excellent. Laura always came back within minutes via the WhatsApp chat. Very helpful with general information and booking airport transfers. The Villa was in a great location in Binibeca. Pool was a perfect size and the outside seating was great for our group.Rooms were fine as we had a bedroom each, could be a be tight for adults sharing the twin rooms. The kitchens were equipped adequately for our needs as we ate our each evening. For info the main supermarket does deliveries. Just fill up your trolley and ask them on check out. Enough restaurants in the resort for a week resorts either side aren’t too far away in a taxi.Would stay here again.
