Review Time
After reading some of the reviews wasn't sure what service/villa to expect. The villa was exceptional and was spotless on arrival. Brilliant communication from Solmar regarding booking, with transfer and on arrival. We had one issue with the water level increasing in the pool but was resolved immediately. It's great that reps don't intrude but they are there if needed. First class service all round
Villa Athos (marketed as Villa Modern Luxe, Porec) was wonderful. Spacious, clean and well laid out. The host was extremely helpful, on hand via WhatsApp and very responsive every day. We made good use of the pool, hot tub, bbq area and the play station. We couldnt use Netflix as previous guests hadn't logged out, and the wifi wasnt strong enough to connect upstairs which was a shame. One thing we really must stress with this Villa is that it isn't called Villa Modern Luxe, its called Villa Athos. It also isnt in Porec, (Porec is over 30km away which is over half an hour away in a car). The Villa is situated kn Karigador. Which is absolutely beautiful but there are no busses at all and no Uber. If you drive on holiday this wont be an issue but if you don't, allow a LOT of extra spending money for taxi's. It cost us EUR 120.00 return to Porec. EUR 80.00 return to Umag, EUR 80.00 return to Novigrad and EUR 60.00 return to Istralandia. We will know to look more closely at the map before booking next year. The super market in Karigador is small and expensive. There is a 2nd one in the campsite which is a 30 min walk away. Slightly better stocked but still not great and also expensive so, if, like us, you are planning to cook at the Villa, whilst the Villa itself is very well stocked with tools and cooking equipment you may need that car again, to get to the main super markets in other towns. Karigador is BEAUTUFUL. With 2 gorgeous restaurants, a beach bar and the most beautiful places to swim. We would definitely return to the town and to the villa. Albeit we would just be better prepared next time.
The villa was lovely but the service from the admin team was dire. Booking was easy but once we had paid it was difficult to get satisfactory responses from queries especially when notified repeatedly that the automatic emails detailing villa guide and directions had no details to download . Had we arrived at night we could not have found the villa and it took the concierge team several attempts to help us.
Solmar Villas were amazing from start to finish. Especially Elena Griffin, nothing was too much trouble for her. We had a few issues with our villa such as, the smoke alarm batteries being low so they beeped continuously, the oven cutting out the electricity whenever it was on for longer than 10 minutes, the jacuzzi bath smelling of burning, the kettle boiling and not stopping, the water supply being cut off, the bath flooding the floor. Elena ensured things were sorted promptly and kept in contact even on her days off to make sure we were safe and happy on our holiday. I honestly think that if we didn't have Elena on hand to get things sorted, our holiday would've been ruined as things wouldn't have been sorted! Thank you Elena for all of your help, just because of how amazing you were we would definitely book through Solmar Villas again.
I recommend that whatever you do, DO NOT BOOK VILLA AGAPI IN LEFKADA. This villa looks nothing like the pictures. Pipes sticking out of the floor, disgustingly dirty, infested with bugs and mould, blood and unknown stains on the sheets. Really damaged broken furniture and broken lights. Aircon is shocking and doesn’t work properly. We complained and they said give us 48 hours to rectify, which would have been impossible. They wouldn’t have been able to fumigate, buy replacement furniture and Remove all the mould in that time. We booked another villa and we could not face staying there. We were told to contact Solmar once we got back to the UK, which we did and They offered us a tiny fraction of the cost of the Villa back as a refund. Avoid at all costs. It’s not rustic, it’s filthy and falsely advertised
The villa we rented for a family holiday is literally infested throughout with ants. Its absolutely disgusting. They are in food cupboards coming out of sockets. Coming out of walls. They were all over the childrens toothbrushes and bedding running everywhere over the villa. I telephoned solmar villas several times during our stay informing them of the issues and was told one of their site maintenance team would get back to us but guess what they never did and we are still in the villa and it's still full of ants. Its that bad we had to throw loads of food away as the ants got inside the packaging. Update Suzanna from Solmar has been out today our last day with 2 x ant houses for a 5 bedroom villa infested over 3 floors and outside with thousands of ants absolute joke. She even had the audacity to say "keep on top of the crumbs" absolutely laughable when we've spent a fortune on ant houses and bottles of disinfectant the absolute cheek of it.Video and photo evidence will follow.I am updating this review to let people know this company are a disgrace and liars. They have made up a fabricated story trying to tell me that the villa i paid over 3000 for, for a week in majora wasn't infested with ants. Its a lie and a disgrace DO NOT book this villa it's awful the pictures are so old and outdated and everywhere is ant infested. I only write honest reviews to help other travelers and this company have responded to my complaint to say they haven't had any more complaints about ant infestations then I go on Feefo reviews and there it is Tanya's review what does ut say ant infestation it also says cocroaches but we didn't see any of them.Its laughable because on one hand they say no reports of it then in the next sentence they say they have pest control out at least once a year so which is it. Don't book this villa and to be honest dont use this company they are shocking
