Review Time
This is my second policy with South downs insurance. I unfortunately had to make a claim last year which was paid once all confirmation details were submitted. Any staff I've spoken to at any time have been friendly and very helpful.
I’ve been left with no choice but to write this review to warn others about my experience with Southdowns (underwritten by AXA Partners).Following a major disruption at Stansted Airport on 11 May 2025 caused by an internal IT systems failure — which the airport formally acknowledged and documented — I submitted a travel insurance claim for the missed flight and related losses. Despite providing all necessary supporting documents, including a detailed statement from the airport itself, my claim was rejected multiple times.Each response I received from Southdowns was generic and dismissive, completely ignoring the specific details of my situation. Even after formally requesting escalation to a senior manager and lodging a formal complaint, I continued to receive copy-and-paste replies that failed to address the facts or demonstrate that my case was being properly reviewed.This has been a frustrating and time-consuming process, handled with little care or transparency. Southdowns has shown no real willingness to support customers when it matters most.If you’re considering buying travel insurance, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. I trusted Southdowns to provide peace of mind, but when I needed them, they were nowhere to be found.
Terrible company. Don’t bother getting it unless you want to declare your life history! Declined my travel insurance claim due to “undisclosed medical conditions” and have listed symptoms rather than medical conditions! One appointment with the doctors has even been listed as a medical condition even though this ‘medical condition’ was a follow up appointment from the last!! Absolute joke, will do anything not to pay out! They have also included something that was disclosed to me by the doctors after taking out the policy! To add, they have also taken 3 months just to tell me this!
