I signed up to a 3-year TOTUM card solely because it came with 3 years' worth of Tastecard. Never used TOTUM for anything else, as each time I tried, a better discount came up through another platform I use.Less than a year later, my Tastecard was cancelled without a warning, as I found out when trying to use it to settle a restaurant bill (imagine the frustration and added cost!). I contacted TOTUM who took a week to look into it only to tell me that this was because their partnership with Tastecard had ended. As soon as I requested a refund, stating that I was no longer getting what I had been sold, I was GHOSTED by TOTUM's customer service despite sending chasers. I then tried raising a chargeback claim, but my bank said that TOTUM refused a refund and that MasterCard can only escalate claims within 120 days of payment (convenient, isn't it, TOTUM?).So in short, I was clearly lured into paying for 3 years upfront by making the offer attractive enough, and then the benefits were withdrawn. It's not my problem, dear TOTUM, that you didn't extend your partnership with Tastecard. If you sold me 3-year access to both TOTUM and Tastecard, I expect to receive both. The TOTUM card was advertised as coming with a Tastecard when I signed up and you HAPPILY TOOK MY MONEY for 3 YEARS, but I received NEITHER a 3-year Tastecard NOR my money back. I just wish I read the reviews before signing up. This is not how business should be done. TOTUM have zero respect for their customers and will not even honour you with a response if you ask for a justified refund. Update: it turns out I'm not the only one - just Google "totum Tastecard", there are plenty of other customers in this position!!!! Unbelievable!!!!!
My daughter applied for an ID card and has received an email simply saying "unfortunately your application for a TOTUM ID has not been successful", despite paying, providing her passport for ID, all of the details of her college and the photo that is used on her college card. There is no phone number, email address or any way that we can follow this up. My daughter has tried to submit a ticket and received an error message. How is this an acceptable way to operate???
They gave me a faulty QR code to activate my card which cost me money and despite admitting it was their fault, offered me no compensation or help to rectify it. The offers with companies are often only valid if you are a first time customer (which are often the normal offer for every first time customer anyway). Some offers are only for people aged under 25 (rail discounts). Lots of offers are only if you spend say a minimum of £40 so no good for small orders. Offers expire so they may be valid 1 day but gone the next. Not a wide choice of regular shops accept it. They advertise businesses that don’t even accept the card. I’ve not even managed to use it yet! Really wish I’d read the reviews first, I honestly didn’t think I’d need to with something that is supposed to save me money. Same as everyone else, they have stopped replying to my emails. Absolute scam and until they respond I will make sure nobody else at my organisation takes out this card either. Update: TOTUM have now given me a full refund as per their review promise below.
I purchased a Totum with PASS ID + ISIC + Cashback cards for my son and paid £36.98 in total including £5.99 for special delivery service. Waited 7 days, received a bog standard Totum card with economy delivery. Then paid an extra £3.99 for the Totum Cashback Card (provided by Pluxee UK) and again received nothing. I asked for my money back, but was ignored. I am now going through my credit card company and trying to get a chargeback because of Totum's and Pluxee UK's fraudulent activities.
Waste of money. I've had it for almost a month and not used it once. The worst thing is the con aspect - they'll advertise on their app a discount for e.g today 20% off over £40 at Matalan but when you go to the site, that's a discount being offered to any customer and is nothing to do with a TOTUM card.Same with offering money off Tesco delivery saver but it's just the normal savings anyone can make when buying the delivery saver subscription.Someone from TOTUM obviously trawls businesses for any discounts or sales they have on then puts them on the TOTUM website as if they are connected with having a TOTUM card. Which makes it look like the card results in far more discount offers than the reality.Surely this is false advertising? It's certainly misleading and I feel completely ripped off for the £30 plus pounds i spent on the card for 3 years.
I wish i had read the reviews before signing up to the cashback card. I find no value in having to pre load the card with money, to spend in a specific shop, to then have to put money on to the card again in order to receive the very little cashback you get. I also see after signing up that to stop having the card you have to pay to stop it. So it came 'free' as part of having a student card, but there is a penalty to not be joined at the end of it. Seems a bit deceitful to me.
